Cool! Then we can send Shroomanian ace pilots and go all Ace Combat with that thing, and have them fly INSIDE its bomb bays to hit its WEAK SPOT! For maximum damage! Then there'll be a trench run! And Miratia will have a GIANT RAILGUN! That shoots ROCKET-SPEARS and MISSILE-SWORDS! And you'll have to fly below five hundred meters to avoid the SHOCKWAVE! URRRAAAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!

Thunder; just make Hresvelgr. It's probably the least insane of the AC superweapons so far.
Stats are as follows, and come from the japanese Ace Combat Zero site (you're welcome );
Height: 70 m
Width: 503 m
Length: 153 m
Maximum Speed: 660mph (1062km/h)
Powered by a nuclear reactor. Has six engines. Supposedly a flying carrier as well as a totally bitchin bomber, but there is no obvious hangar aboard. Possibly uses ejectable underwing racks or pylons to carry escort fightercraft?
Schematics, based on the ingame model, are here. http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/7899 ... lgrdf4.png
A wallpaper, for some idea of the XB-0's scale, is here. http://www.acecombat.jp/ace-zero/images ... 0x1024.jpg
:>
EDIT: Is it a bad thing that I understand -every single one- of Shroom's AC references in that post?
EDIT2: It is also a transport. Probably carries maybe a smallish battallion of men, or an armored company.
EDIT3: IF YOU DON'T MAKE IT I WILL MWAHAHAHAAAAAaaaaaa

The Exile Duke did, certainly, after the CSR's interference in his plan to annex the PRSF. Myself? I don't mind the UCSR. I happen to rather like Russian aircraft, as evidenced by Tian Jiao keeping Su-30MKWs (Su-30MKIs with the serial numbers filed off and some western engines i can't recall the precise designations of) and Mi-28 Havocs in its' inventory up until the Duke's exile after his failed show of force.

Very very rough guesstimate. As it is, the F-35 development cost, if wiki is right, is 40 billion. It'd be considerably more than that. The F-35 uses technology developed from the F-22. A giant flying wing with stealth and a big nuclear reactor and all the bells and whistles you can think of will cost considerably more. If a B-2 bomber is called a "billion dollar bomber", then I cannot imagine what this machine will cost.

I was being very very very optimistic in my estimate, to be sure. I suspect to get the whole thing to work, while dealing with the weight issues, will take a lot of time. And because of the weight, you'd need a very long runway. The aircraft itself could cost more than 10 billion all said and done. The B-2 was already about 2 billion. Let's not even think about a nuclear powered version.Shroom Man 777 wrote:It'd be considerably more than that. The F-35 uses technology developed from the F-22. Where the hell do you get 3.3 billion? Anyway, the flyaway cost of the B-2 is $330 million (in then year dollars).Fingolfin_Noldor wrote:I was being very very very optimistic in my estimate, to be sure. You got it wrong. It's 'just' a "flying wing with stealth, a fuckton of missiles, AESA, and the airborne equivalent of SeaRAMs."Fingolfin_Noldor wrote:Very very rough guesstimate. The nuclear option just didn't strike me as such a great idea after I realized how much of a weight penalty it carried...
Oh, and I might give it a handful of AIR-2 Genie missiles with guided warheads based on those nukes I got from Siege and the AAM-2 guidance packages. Just as a friendly reminder not to fuck around in my airspace.
As for the cost, from here:
This would seem to indicate that the current fleet of B-2 Spirits cost about $2.1 billion each. The wiki states that the fly-away cost was ~$737 million according to that same source, though I'm not entirely sure how they determined that.General Accounting Office of the United States wrote: The Air Force has reported that the total estimated B-2 acquisition costs development, procurement, and military construction) decreased from $44,946 million in early 1995 to $44,754 million in early 1997.
So, cutting out the cost of the planes themselves takes us down to around $29 billion in R&D costs. Assuming that the research scales linearly with the length of the plane, that'd be around $88 billion.
Still alot of money, but not quite so much as Fingolfin figured.

Re: SD.Net World Redux Comment Thread VI
From Shep's post in the Data dump thread:
Also, according to wiki, the B-2 required 40 billion in R&D not corrected to 2007. It'd probably rise to 50 or so billion when corrected, though it will be complicated because some of the work was done as far back as the 80s and that's a cumulative number. Good luck making a bigger plane with a nuclear reactor.
As for "not fucking around with your air space", I have more than enough stealth cruise missiles with 3000km range in my inventory to do so, even some missiles with MACH 3 cruise speed, and MACH 4 terminal speed and with 6000km range. Good luck trying to ... intercept all those stealth missiles. Ought to roll out a longer range version of the MACH 6 missile.
I derived the 3.4 billion bit from the first number, which I assume was the R&D and production start up cost piled onto the first few aircraft. The cost was corrected for 2007 dollars. Also, given that Ryan is only going to produce a few craft, it's likely that the cost would lean to the initial cost.B-2A Spirit -- 1992 -- $3,394.68 million
B-2A Spirit -- 1993 -- $954.12 million
