You might as well breed whales for food

At least they would have more blubber... Hmm... :D
I bet it would be pretty tasty if you deep-fried them.

I hear that there quite tastey and that would not be such a bad idea, but think about it, if we where to clone mammoths as a food sorce then there would be quite a few less cases of starvation in the world.

This does it, I need billions of dollars, just so we can build a Jurrassic Park, and invite all of PETA and ELF to free the poor captive Carnivorous dino's, Sabertooths, and any other extinct animal that would be amusing to watch devouring them....a

It's an Irony thing.

It's like my fantasy of all of the Death Camp Nazi's getting reincarnated as cows bound for Mc. Donalds or Burger King.

Screw that, we started playing God when we domesticated animals. If the morons wanna yell at us, I say we ignore 'em and partake of the bounty our Mammoth Burgers shall bring in.

I know I have a very wrong sense of Irony

I think it comes from too much "Twilight Zone" when I was younger, it definatly warped my sense of Justice.

I doubt they would like it.

It's too warm here, ditto the sabertooths

NOW YELLOWSTONE, or Glacier up in Alaska would be their kinda place.

Mind you I wouldn't mind them re-introducing Wolves and Grizzlys into Yosemite valley, the deer have grown too fast, and are too inbred (The alpha bull can rest on his laurels because of lack of competition)

While your at it really give the folks a shock (and the deer), let's bring back Canis Lupis Meglos Californius (Californian Dire Wolf, they really did exist and were about the size of Tolkien Worgs)

About the Dire wolf, when did they go extinct (I assume at the end of the ice age). I'd look it up but I'm to lazy.

Yeah, like the California camal, they were victims of attempting to compete with early Mezo-americans. (The indians killed them off)

Most interesting. What I have always found interesting is how a animal of that size ever found enough to eat in Siberia given what we know of the eating habits of modern elephants.

There were some mammoth bones found in Wrangel Island that was dated up to 3700 years old which is pretty recent in geologic time. However these mammoth bones were smaller than their mainland counterparts leading to the theory that these mammoths where actually dwarfs.
