Because, in my experience, it's much less of a pain in the ass than dual-booting. It was just a suggestion; I have no idea what sorts of specs your computur(s) have.

Right-clicking to reboot to Windows is a huge pain in the ass? I'd rather do that than try to fuck with emulation configurations and help my kids try to debug them over the phone when they try to start up Titan Quest while I'm at work.

As opposed to Wine, which emulates the app right there in X? Or VirtualBox which you would just click and Windows would boot up...in a window in X? And if the virtual OS gets messed up, you click "restore image to saved state"?

The debugging over the phone, I will grant you. While many games work beautifully, it's the games that require tweaking which make or break an emulation system.

I don't give a fuck about the games which work in emulation. I care about the ones that don't. If you have only one game which won't work in emulation or which requires a lot of fucking around, that means you need a copy of Windows installed on that machine. Ergo, dual-boot.

...and I was saying that VirtualBox (and as phongn mentioned, VMWare) provides an alternate way of "installing Windows on that machine," though with proper image management, I suppose dual-booting could be made to operate with similarly easy recovery and re-imaging as a virtual environment. Though, as you said, your computer isn't bleeding edge.
