Yep...though I have learned to call many a person an ignoramus and such not...and avoid the whole Mod bit.

Ah those lovable mods over there.

Also if you enter any sort of war with them...they can call ya a fool, but doing the same get axed :)

Nice to see Tannhauser and Angelblade...still not making a refute, but instead going 'You First!"

And the whole Tower go boom...funny when I freeze frame I can see it there....who would've thunk that.

Also DFA blows off because they don't like seeing stats....that was a fun one.

Oh come on, why do you people even bother? This is Gamefaqs, perhaps the greatest concentration of stupidity on the Internet ever.

It's still an exercise in futility. These are the same people that troll their own X-Box, GameCube, and Playstation 2 boards. These are the same people that think 300 megatons will blow up the Earth. These are the same people that think Turbolasers are actual Lasers. I'd just let them contine to act like idiots until the thread reaches 500 posts and is auto closed.

Usually do...and then hit them again when another moron brings it up.

It's sort of like any ignorant troll...you keep hitting them with logic, and hope they either learn or become so stupidly rabid that what left of their brain melts.

I TRIED I really tried to read through those posts but MY GOD there are some dumbasses in the world. It seems that everytime people are "educated" on these matters another batch crop up like weeds. Anyway I just was tickled pink when Starcrossed was brought up as a reasonable way that the conflict would proceed. 8)

Pretty much...but I am glad a few think of Starcrossed highly.

It shows some glimmer of something.

I'm launching an attack. BTW, they want the exact excerpt about Holonet transmissions being blocked by shields. Where exactly is that?

Now Angelblade's bitching about the meaning of the "iso" prefix. These Trekkies just love screwing around with semantics.

However, think back to TOS, the episode where two redshirts are handling a lttle anti-matter, explicitly saying it easily had more power than nuclear devices of the past.

Holy crap, did you guys see the Shuttle vs. X-wing thread? Angelblade and Zeloran don't think X-wings have shields, according to the movies. I'm guessing that they think that unless a ship is shown with Trekkie bubbleshields, it's completely unshielded.

Jim, how do you put up with such stupidity? One of the latest idiots is trying the old claim about how we can tell how massive the TESB asteroids are.

Hey, at least he doesn't jack off to Captain Janeway like those Trekkies...

Anyway, it's boards like these where you wouldn't expect a SW vs ST debate where all the rabid Trekkies hang out. They either never heard of SD.net, and if they have, probably odn't accept it.

You got the second one.

A few have basically gone "Mike is biased!!!" and have links to Darkstar's site.

Seriously it's because of their whole condemnation of Mike that I ventured here(if these morons hated it so much I had to see why :D )

That's pretty bad. Although it doesn't seem like it could help, point them to my rebuttal of Anderson's work.

Looks like you guys have dug up the hornet's nest. Be careful.

This is no hornet's nest...more like a batch of Wall of Ignorance...and yes I believe the next time I step around there I will post up your rebuttal MoO(since a few actually believe RSA is some Trek God)

The two loudest and dumbest(angelblade and SSJG1000) both have the collective IQ of a dead squirrel.

How do I come this conclusion...after the first two times(long before I ever saw Wong's site or did any calcs) they both literally went canon only.

So I brought up the Asteroid issue....nothing, they then retorted with ISD couldn't take an asteriod

Too bad I was asking that said ISD can destroy them in one hit while the Enterprise-D couldn't with it's PT payload...to which basically got screams of Die Warsie...etc.

As time went on...they got more and more irrational...someone pointed out two sites(Wong's and Daystrom)...and that's how I got here.

Funniest part is they still are trying to think a Borg Cube(and with the various calcs now out there and available with easy reach) is going to compete with 200GT turbolasers.

Ah well...maybe tomorrow I'll see if the morons are still screaming at Jim's post(saddest part is the complete rejection of Mike Five minute's because it uses the Tech manual...but then again gives offical calcs on a 20 year precursor transport of the ISD)

I guess I should dig around find some of your guys stuff on this...and see canon based(episode by episode) vs the Slave-1 and see how they would react.

I've always been amused by the fanatical Trekkie claiming that the Federation wins by default because "lasers can't even penetrate our navigational shields."
Let's suppose for a moment that the unnaturally powerful weapons we refer to as turbolasers in Star Wars are simple lasers as we have today, produced from a keychain laser pointer, despite the fact that I wrote entire webpages that show effects/characteristics that are different from those. Let's also assume that Federation "navigational shields" are totally immune to lasers of any power level. Let's also ignore the time that a Borg cube carved the Enterprise "like a roast" with "some type of laser" in "QWho."

Okay, with all of that assumed, how does this give the Federation an instant victory?
*Turbolasers are only one type of weapon used in Star Wars. Slave1 fired missiles and mines in AOTC. The Rebels fired an ion cannon in TESB. Luke Skywalker fired torpedoes in ANH. Leia offered to destroy Jabba's palace with a "thermal detonator." Missiles were fired from the Millennium Falcon in ROTJ. Missiles were seen hitting ISDs in ROTJ. Missiles were fired from A-Wings in ROTJ.
*Given the destructive capabilities of weapons used, shielding technology used by the Empire is many orders of magnitude more resilient than that used by the Federation. So, we know that Imperial ships could ignore Federation weapons too, torpedoes and all. Imperial ships could bombard Federation planets until the last, ignoring the Federation's attempts to stop them.
*With planetary shielding, Federation ships can't return the favor.

So, even if their absurd claim were true, it does not equal victory for the Trek side.

In fact, this is comparable to saying that because Earthforce ships have interceptors that can protect them from incoming pulse weapons, they must be able to beat the Centauri, because they use pulse weapons a lot.

It is also comparable to saying that because the gunstar prototype ("The Last Starfighter") can "withstand several hits," it can withstand several phaser blasts.
Or several photon torpedoes.

My God, just when you think you've made a crack in their Wall of Ignorance, they patch it up stronger than before. I thought I effectively ended the stupid Canon debate there, but now Zeloran's come back with this stupid "EU is an alternate universe" argument. I wouldn't be surprised if they started saying ST ships are immune to lasers again.

I just posted six messages in rapid succession. Wish there weren't so many limits over there.

Brian, you're intelligent. These Trektards are not. They don't know how to think logically at all. They don't know the meaning of "Hasty Generalization."
