On the whole Byzantium thing, I think we all knew that them being a full member of MESS and SNC was shaky, at best. I believe that has been brought up a number of times. SNC transforming into CATO doesn't really change that, and would arguably make it worse (even without all the tensions that arrived). So we all knew, sooner or later, it'd be time to choose. In this case, we're not even looking to totally kick them out, just give a reduced membership status. Because we're nice like that.

Although, because of the tensions, my "politics" comment can be read that, at home, several of us have been pressured to answer the "Byzantine Question" finally. Because that's what happens in internal politics. Especially since one of the 'excuses' we used to have was that the dual membership would keep tensions from ratcheting up on both sides, which obviously didn't work.

But you see? I was nice. This preplanned trip served as a handy heads up since we're not going public with it immediately (and Fin, you did ask to visit shortly after Baerne joined CATO, so it was your idea to go out there). And thanks to the summit I'm sure Heraclius will inform his CATO allies in due course before we all go public. So there's some heads up for you.

Depending on what Klavostan's losses have been like (All their myriad ops around the world certainly must have destroyed some of their gear) I could see them rearming with Tonkin's old kit, especially if its cheap and considering Tonkin's role in the new government.

Though they would likely buy from anyone who would sell cheap.

It's cheap and reliable. Rangatara's using a lot of it now, for example, and Svalbardia had some transferred over for heavy interceptor duties.

Well, to be honest, it shouldn't resemble a Saturn at all (should be lower and squatter, with provision for strapon boosters built into the design), but the picture was just sooo cool

Anyway...it's a three stage vehicle capable of lofting 90 tonnes to LEO, and the engine arrangement is almost identical to RL Saturn, though it's much smaller (about half the total launch mass, I think. Lower gravity is sooo cool ) - it was the goal of nearly the entire FASTA rocket development program.

Personally, we could have left them there. That would mean if, should the ballon go up and Japanistan try for some overland invasion, they'd be doing it through my troops as well. Which would have brought me into it and possibly the MESS as well, regardless of alliance status. But if you don't want that, then fine with me.

As far as refunds, why? We're not forcing you to give back anything you bought. You wanted to get rid of it and I asked if you'd give it back if that were the case. I'm not forcing you to do so. Keep it, return it, destroy it, up to you. Of course, the nondisclosure agreements you would have doubtless signed still apply, no matter how pissed you may be with us.

Alternatively, you could have stayed with MESS and been observer or whatever with CATO. Which I would have mentioned, but you already made up your mind and there have been public game posts, so it's too late for that. But why you're acting surprised and pissed that we made you choose I don't know. As has been pointed out many times, the dual alliance thing was unusual, at best. Sooner or later a decision would have had to have been made. I gave you a heads up and offered to not say anything about it until after the conference, so you could discuss things with CATO. Would have even given you an option to choose before we went public (I actually tried to present that in my last post and would've made it more explicit later, but if it didn't come across than my bad, because it should have).

Essentially, the "back-door decision" was made that the dual alliance thing was no longer tenable, given the initial oddness of it and recent tensions no doubt putting internal pressure on us about it. What more could we have informed you of? It's not like we could have just put it off.

Shinra tanks in Canissia oh noes!" on me, they're mainly going there because it's a shorter distance, and given Heraclius made it clear he wanted them gone 'right the fuck now' it seemed like a good interim solution. So, since my living room is going to be gutted over the weekend and I probably won't be online, you can assume that is to be my stock answer, in case anyone brings it up.

Then again, since that order isn't public it'll be awhile before people start noticing that. So yeah, no jumping the gun on that one, ok?

Like I said: my bad. I should've made it clearer. I fessed up to it earlier. Of course, if people would be nice enough to not make four public announcement posts before I can come back I might've been able to clarify. But what's done is done. *shrug*

Oh well. Tensions on the diplomatic front, more drama between the MESS and CATO, wheee! Just makes the summit that much more interesting for the rest of you.

Added a section on Canissian Media outlets in my Canissian main page on the Wiki.

It is worth note that Canissian news media is expected to have an opinion and there will be degrees of editorializing inherent to all Canissian news media. I do have CNN as an accurate and fair news source, even though it started as a Nationalist Party outlet, they've discovered that it pays to have global appeal and a global audience.

Generally, a news source or report from Canissia will reflect some slant from the political movement it is affiliated with. High-class news will have less slant and be more trusted by the average outsider, the low-class tabloids and rant rags will be almost all slant and little useful information and may even contain outright bullshit or conspiracy theories. I include them to allow people a chance to see what passes for "extreme thought" in Canissian politics at any given area of the spectrum.

Generally, if you see it in one of the reputable news orgs, like CNN, the Royal Times-Herald, Defense Quarterly, and so on, it'll be more trustable, useful information. Crazy stuff coming from tabloids and propaganda pieces will be obvious and 'out there', and more an indication of moods and undercurrents rather than real policy.

FYI, I wasn't talking about your actions; I was referring to the rather insulting way Rogue dropped the ball. That was a really nice way to treat an ally. The MESS should issue awards to it's PR department, for a job well done.
