CD key and backup question

Post by Lord Relvenous »

Is there a way that I can use my CD Key to get a backup of a game? I still have the original case for my Medieval Total War II game, but half the CDs have gone missing. (:() I was excited when I saw you could activate products on steam, but they unfortunately do not accept Medieval Total War II CD keys. Is there another way that I can use my CD Key to get a backup of my the game?

Is this a serious question?

Just download it. It's trivial to do so. You already have a licence so it's not even really illegal.

I'd rather not install Limewire or Bittorrent on this computer, as it is not mine, and the virus protection is somewhat inadequate. So yes, this is a serious question. Anyways, I can never get anything faster than around 30 kb/s out of Limewire. If there's an easier way to get it than I'd rather use that. If there isn't, I'll resort to downloading it.

... You use Limewire AND complain about poor speeds? Deary me.

Are you seriously asking if you can tell Distributor XYZ that you lost your disks and get them to mail you some more?

I'm not all that experienced in downloading, so if there is a better way, do tell. I'm not much of a computer user period, so I rarely have need for a torrent client.

No. I was asking if there was a way to redeem a CD Key to get a digital copy, similar to Steam's "Activate a Product" option.

Just get Bittorrent for good download speeds, and don't use a site that pesters you with thousands of popups for getting the Torrent, and you'll be fine.
