Which does all the hard work for you. Much simpler than using the itunes method.
What is with nerds constantly plugging their favourite audio app? Anything that outputs aac/m4a will work, with the convenience being drag-select and editing the save as extention. The idea you need a specific app is asinine. There's nothing intrinsically special about the ringtones created.

Well clearly you don't have a ringophile's ear for quality differences, Stark. Everyone knows using a special app will make it sound sooo much better on the tinny little speakers on a cellular phone.

GET WITH THE PROGRAM.

Stark, thank you, I was wondering how to do that for my mom so I can make her ringtones for one mother's day gift!

...Why would you hack your iPhone? I have yet to learn why jail breaking iPod Touches and iPhones is a good idea.

He 'got' it hacked, he didn't do it himself, lol.

Jailbreaking lets you mess with the system on a pretty broad basis, removes restrictions on apps and all sorts of things. It's simple enough to do and roll back that every time an update comes out you can de-hack it, update, then hack it again. It's pretty simple to do, but I've never really wanted anything that needs it (aside from NES emulators, lol).
