District 9 Trailer

Post by ray245 »

You guys still remember the Halo director who directed a series of Halo shots for Halo 3?

Well, He is making a full length movie based on one of his shorts called Alive in Joberg.

It basically deals with what happens when we have aliens living in Slumps on our Planet, and how would our society deal with them. Although the idea that aliens have to live in slumps seems a little ridiculous, especially when they seems to have better technology than humans.

Humans are such funny creatures. We are selfish about selflessness, yet we can love something so much that we can hate something.

There's a pretty sweet viral campaign out, kind of like cloverfield. I noticed a link puttering around the official site and found http://www.multinationalunited.com/#/10 and http://www.mnuspreadslies.com/index.php

Looks like they're putting some work into all this.

Isn't the tech supposed to be all breaking down though?

I imagine it's kind of like Alien Nation actually. Although I did like the Cthulhu-esque design of the original versus the bugs.

The comments on the alien blog are what you'd expect (skeptics, fake aliens, trolling sock-puppets, etc) but my suspension of disbelief is stretched by how grammatical they are. :)

Take a look at mathsfromouterspace.com.

Because ... Judge Dredd was an allegory of Apartheid? Here was me thinking it was a satire on right-wing attitudes in British politics and society in the 80s.

It just takes you to a page saying the Maths from Outer Space program is no longer active.

There's a reason I'm a history teacher.

Oh. Yeah, I'm not that math smart. I didn't even recognize what the last two questions were even supposed to be.

The site's been posted above, but check out MNU Spreads Lies to see what the alien looks like without the digitization on its face. Basically the teaser trailer, but during the interrogation scene they don't blur the face.

So it is Alien Nation in South Africa? Well at the very least the spacecraft and Aliens look cool.

The aliens basically look like more insectoid versions of the aliens in Alive In Johannesburg. I guess it was an artistic choice to make them look a little more alien, although they did tone down the Cthulhu aspect of the design as well.

The alien's face is blurred out ostensibly to preserve its identity, but from what I've heard, the government obscures all alien faces in the media because their eyes look incredibly human.

I have been awaiting the director's feature-length debut for some time now.

Here's the trailer with the alien's face uncensored and its dialogue subtitled.

Edit: Shit. It's been posted already.

I remember when I first watched Alive in Joberg, and I loved it. Good to see this is coming. The subtitled conversation adds a whole different take on the interrogation.
