Congratulations. You have experienced the most common bug in the game....and they still have not managed to fix it.
I myself reported the bug three times. Hundreds of other users did as well.
Result: Bug is still there.

A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for. It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult! - Chief Judge Haywood
------------ My LPs
RTW and M2TW would occasionally CTD as well, but not as much as ETW. And they would usually do it only after a long battle.
The thing is, in RTW and M2TW there were cheat codes, so if the game did a CTD after a long arduous battle, you would just say "oh fuck it" and use the cheat code to autoresolve it when you loaded the game up again. ETW lacks cheat codes, and even if it had them, its CTDs aren't triggered by the same things anyway.
PS. Is there anyone who's happy with the tight resource restrictions in ETW, especially after the latest patch? I find that it's more difficult to field large armies than it was in M2TW, which is retarded. Armies became larger in this period, not smaller.

I'm actually doing allright, it makes my strategy hella tighter and even with the obscene Brit advantage I oten wind up having to just cancel all of my alliances early so I can avoid getting distracted while gearing up to take on the Cherokee and French to reap the rewards of the 13 Colonies. Haven't played yet with anyone else since I've been working a domination game and those take a while.
That said I'm finding that I can field full stack armies BUT I've got to build them slowly, no more full stack in 2 turns setups.
