Fringe Season Finale review *SPOILERS*

Post by CaptainChewbacca »

Okay, so I loved AND hated this episode. I loved it because it had some really cool shit and some shocking revelations, but I am quite pissed I didn't get more answers.

Part of Walter's past was answered; He feels guilty because he stole Peter from an alternate reality to replace his dead son. Really, that sort of pain and wrongness which is absolutely human and inhuman at the same time is something I've never seen on television. Makes me wonder if there's a 'parallel Walter' in that Otherverse.

William Bell hiding out in an alternate reality was kinda cool, but seemed a bit of a brainbug that went nowhere. That being said, the final shot of the episode was just balls-out-over-the-top-madness. That's the second-greatest mindfuck I've ever seen on television, after Jordan Collier's resurrection on The 4400.

It would've been the best, but I somehow saw it coming about 5 seconds before it happened.

4.5/5 for me. Can't wait for next season.

On hearing Leonard Nimoy, I thought it was going to zoom out to a Federation looking city. Science! & it's impact on the enviroment in Fringe would mesh perfectly with Startrek :P

So now all the geeks can shut up about "OMG you can't grow a person that way ROFLMAO!!!"

Yes, you can, in a place where the physics of the universe have grown weak and are breaking down. Now shut up.

Anyway, as usual Fringe wins infinite internets for mindfucking me. The shot of the WTC at the end was really actually out of left field and i wasn't expecting it. I honestly expected it to be some kind of space station or something. Though i so called Peter being a clone (yeah i know, "Many Worlds", parallel universe...he's a clone, ok) months ago when Walter was talking about how he nearly died as a child. No one ever found a cure to the virus...well, if no one ever cured it how the blue fuck is Peter even alive? Clone.

More so i'm now not even entirely sure that Dr. Puddingface is even dead. The whole notion of grabbing people from other universes and brining them "here" calls into question...really everything. There is no way of knowing who lived or died, or which version of them lived or died, or what. Peter: Part 2 being a perfect example of this. Really, if there was a Peter Bishop 2: The Revenge, then logic dictates a Walter Bishop 2 exists, or 3 or 4 or any number of others.

That newspaper is REALLY interesting;
* Looks like 9/11 resulted in the White House being destroyed, maybe instead of the Pentagon being hit.
* JFK is alive, and addressed the UN. That means not only did he not get killed, but someone cured Addison's disease.
* Len Bias is still alive and playing B-ball, which means he didn't OD in '86.
* It's not all good news, though, as the Stock Markets have been closed for 21 days.

I really like how you can see the Statue of Liberty in the WTC shot.

Don't forget:

* In this universe, the New York Post is a serious newspaper.

And when they both finally meet onscreen:

Clint Howard, from last episode: "Spock!"
Leonard Nimoy: "Balok!"

And they kiss.

That might also be Teddy instead of JFK since he almost beat Carter in 80.

If you look at the high-res, it looks a LOT like some 'digitally aged' photos of Kennedy that are floating around.

Definitely a nice twist. Weird thing about the show is that I'd actually like them to replace the lead actress but otherwise would keep everyone else, pecially Noble and would watch it next season.
