Fans of the popular Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series can continue the battle for galactic peace this September in an all-new videogame from LucasArts and Krome Studios. Based on the Cartoon Network series and collaborating directly with Lucasfilm Animation, Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes allows players to take up arms on behalf of the noble Galactic Republic, while pursuing the mysterious bounty hunter Cad Bane and combating the all-new Skakoan super villain Kul Teska.
Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes allows players to fight as both Jedi Knights and clone troopers through over 30 unique missions, all created incorporating the same ground-breaking, stunning visual style from the TV series. Featuring a brand-new storyline, players will get the chance to take part in the key events that lead directly into the highly anticipated second season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Jedi characters can slice and dice their way through countless enemies, commandeer droids and show off their combat prowess on foot and in a variety of vehicles. Clone troopers fire things up with a heavy weapons armament that includes rocket launchers, thermal detonators and even jet packs in levels built specifically to take run-and-gun gameplay to exciting levels.
In addition, the Lucasfilm Animation Singapore games team -- in conjunction with The Clone Wars experts at Lucasfilm Animation -- is developing an experience on the Nintendo DS that takes full advantage of the platform's touch-screen technology. That version will include an expanded storyline that offers players the chance to take part in key events and battles from season one while also featuring intuitive touch-screen controls for movement, attacks and puzzle solving.
"The Clone Wars franchise has struck a chord with viewers and gamers around the world with its action-packed storyline and memorable heroes," said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts. "With its Jedi and clone trooper gameplay and all-new storyline, Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes takes the franchise into a truly exciting and interactive direction."
Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes will release this September for the Microsoft Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, PLAYSTATION3 computer entertainment system, Wii, PlayStation2 computer entertainment system, PSP (PlayStationPortable) system, Nintendo DS and PC.
More information about the game can be found at the official website.

God, Yoda sounded retarded in that trailer. And the game looks pretty boring too.

Do you have an alternate link? That one you supplied doesn't work for me.

lol. Try this.Darth Ruinus wrote:Do you have an alternate link? That one you supplied doesn't work for me.
EDIT-- It looks ok. Being able to play as a clone (even if it's not trooper #12412) is something I've wanted for awhile. Republic Commando only whetted my taste. (Where's Imperial Commando, dammit? The book series is being switched over; I want to gun down Rebel scum and Wookiees like there's no tomorrow!)

It does not look anything like Republic Commando. Which had the two chief benefits of being both fun and interesting while also managing to be slightly repetitive. But the setting in the game was spot on and all the tiny little touches the game had(Like visor cleaning wiper or the close range knife) and the simple joy in commanding your fellow soldiers and seaming them do it. Hell breaching doors was lots of fun the first ten times, still fun the next twenty but after that well...DesertFly wrote:

Either way I too still want my Imperial Commando

Bah. You guys can keep your imperial commando. I want a game where I play as a rebel insurgent running Gruellia ops against the Empire.Mr Bean wrote:

Looks too arcadey. I prefer my Star Wars games in the styles of Battlefront or Republic Commando. They need to make another Republic Commando (what the fuck happened to Sev? And why no Battle of Kashyyk?) and Imperial Commando. Nothing like crushing rebel scum beneath your boots.

Oh, I don't think it looks like or is going to play like Republic Commando in any way, but at least you'll have a chance to get away from being an uber Jedi (at least for some levels). The Battlefront series, for all its weird gameplay, at least had this going.Mr Bean wrote:It does not look anything like Republic Commando. There's even some ready antagonists in the EU, if you don't want to make the player character an outright "bad guy", or have yet another cliche "switch to the good guys". Some lines in the X-Wing books by one "Planetary Liberator" indicates that there are Rebels ("splinter groups") that are just as willing to use any means they deem necessary, and that "anyone not with us is against us", etc, that could be used as the archetype for handy (along with corrupt Imperial officials and their personal armies) antagonists... Because, quite frankly, most writers don't have the slightest clue on how to portray morally ambiguous or outright evil characters, beyond "Hahaha, let's shoot that poor old granny! And maybe her little dog too!".Imperial Commando
As for the game in topic, I've never been able to get into the Clone Wars TV series, but I'll probably give this game a chance when it comes out, depending on the reactions of the others on this board.

It's not a coincidence that just about all the good SW games basically have no Jedi in them.

I think moreso than Jedi making bad stories, the people who make Star Wars games with Jedi are less likely to care, because you need to have some vested interest in the material if you start digging far enough to make something like Rogue Leader or Battlefront.Commander 598 wrote:It's not a coincidence that just about all the good SW games basically have no Jedi in them.

Of course, there can be good Jedi games: Jedi Outcast and Knights of the Old Republic come to mind.
