Also recall what they said about rivals back in the Thieves' Guild arc. Too keep things interesting recurring enemies automatically go up in level when the heroes do, so as to stay challenging (*ding* "Looks like Haley gained another level!"). So no matter how powerful a single member of the Order gets, Xykon, as the Big Bad of the entire campaign, will remain strong enough to be a challenge to the entire group. V going off on hir own to defeat him was doomed on the conceptual level.

Is Tsukiko holding a Xykon-puppet ? :-)

Another information revealed by True Seeing ? Spoiler
It looks like the spell can reveal gender...Team Evil is very consistent in calling V a she wehen using personal pronouns.

True Seeing doesn't see into someone's pants unless the pants are an illusion. I'm pretty sure everyone in the Order who's used pronouns for V has used male ones, so this has as much validity as the people who were saying "Roy called V a guy that proves it" way back when the running gag started.

Yeah, that resolves a lot of my issues, especially with the concentration and the damage finally showing on team evil. But if Xykon has an item of fire immunity, that makes his apparent level even higher than previously suspected. And threat to the entire party would put him at seven levels above the group, past that he's an outside context problem.

:D I note V's Clothes and appearance is back to normal after being crunched which I thought was a nice touch. V's pretty damn boned.

Possible factors to consider, O-chul, The Monster in the Darkness, the Resistance, one of the other epic party members from Dorukan, Lirian, and Soon's group choosing this opportune moment to check on the Azure city gate as the most recent to have been destroyed, V's mentor coming in to rescue him, the Evil outsiders working to protect their investment, some other random do-gooder taking a shot at Xykon, some random evil-doer taking a shot at Xykon, V getting a cage next to O-chul so he can be interrogated, or something completely random and off the wall that I haven't anticipated.

So, what kind of Str would Xykon reasonably need to pull off that beatdown with the random hunk of debris?

She was sleeping, so that would make it a Xykon teddy bear.

Extra weird when you remember that she's a necrophiliac.

So what would happen if the Warriors of light were to team up with the order of the stick?

From a GM perspective V deserved what she got. She took a short cut (soul Splice) and then instead of preparing she/he got cocky and left with out plans or backup. The other characters tried to warn her as well so it's V's own fault.

Boy, the comic just beated you over the head with "Xykon is much more of a team player than V, which is why he won", didn't they?

Just a bit. Of course, Xykon could have just kept hammering the Energy Drains and the end result would have probably been a win for him.

Well, Some Beatings Need To Be Administered. V wasn't taking the subtle hints.

Warriors of light being around would probably be worse than Snarl being free.

They would also beat the pants off anything short of the gods themselves. It is only thier own incompentence which prevents them from taking over the world. That and the Wizard Who Did It just loves fucking with Black Mage's mind.

They are the lead protagonists(not heroes!) of 8 bit theater. SirNitram's Avatar is the Black Mage and LadyTevar's avatar is White Mage.

8 bit theater is a sprite based, D&D inspired adventure of the Warriors of Light going around to world talking plundering kingdoms and leaving untold strife in thier wake in the quest for cosmic power beyond comparsion, untold richs and ... sword chucks.

Black Mage's signature spell is an energy blast which is powered by love which has been shown to be able to destroy mountains, and even contintents IIRC. He actually got killed by a Lich varient. He got sent to hell, and promptly took it over in 20 minutes. Saddly in sent the Lich to hell before ensuring he couldn't be cast back into his body ment he was deposed as the ruler of hell and thrown back into his body. He also shown to survive multipule terminal velocity impacts with the ground.

The rest of the Warriors of Light are just as munkin-like and equally insane.

I believe they are more inspired by and loosely based on the Final Fantasy genre of video game RPG. What with White Mage, Red Mage, Black Mage caster variants.

The Hadoken, which causes divorce rates to rise when it's used, since it's powered by love the way a car is powered by gas. "It consumes love and causes massive destruction; it's win/win !" is more or less how BM has described it. Once, he missed, and it went off into space and apparently ended up killing the dinosaurs.

Black Mage would looooove Familiacide.

There's a lot of D&D humour in 8BT as well (and, let's face it, the original Final Fantasy was D&D with the serial numbers filed off)

Hadoken only being usable once per day is brought up as a plot point. Normally with a flashback of Black Mage wastingusing it to go annihilate some minor wildlife.

So I guess we're not going to see Jephton's epic spell. Perhaps Rich will offer it up as an extra in the next book. Also, I hope this new plot with normal V in Azure City doesn't last too long. Getting Roy back only to spend time trying to get V back so the Order is together again after all this time does not sound like fun.
