More precisely, it made $43m over the weekend, holding up quite nicely against Angels & Demons, which made $48m (and way ahead of Wolverine in 3rd place, which made $15m).
Next week will probably see the end of its sustained period of success with the release of Terminator 4 and Night at the Museum 2, but it looks like the new film's done everything it needs to. The only real issue is that its overseas performance so far is, in all honesty, fairly poor so far - although in some countries it's being held over until later in the summer, so that might provide a late boost to its earnings.

Wonder what ST is at world wide takes.
edit- According to link it's taken in 87.5 million bring Star Trek to 271 million world wide, not to shaby.

Re: Trek at the box office
Like the other Trek movies, it's doing decent business in Germany and the UK and far less elsewhere. Projections say it should take in about a quarter of its gross overseas; currently it stands at $76 million.dragon wrote:Yup dropped to 3rd place with almost 22mil take and 183 million domestic. Re: Trek at the box office
Trek XI is now the highest grossing film of 09 and continuing to build on its lead. I think Transformers will cut it down without a doubt, but otherwise quite the achievement.
