Three ideas:Havok wrote:I think I said this in another thread when TSCC got moved to Friday night... Why would a television network that has spent millions of dollars promoting and developing and making a show that is designed to appeal to the 15-35 demographic, move it to a night and time when 15-35 year olds are looking to do anything but stay home and watch TV? I don't get the logic there.
A - The Evil Fox Network Executives deliberately moved it to Friday night so as to have a reason to screw it over. This is not unprecedented. *cough* Firefly *cough*
B - The show had been getting weak ratings before the move. They didn't want to cancel it just yet, but they didn't want to waste a valuable timeslot on a weak performer. There are more shows than slots, after all. So, it was moved to a weak slot as a "last chance" that just didn't work out.
C - They honestly thought sci-fi nerds don't go out on Fridays? Or possibly they thought it worked for nBSG and X-Files, so....
The stupid capitalist mentality, maybe. Long-term investments can pay off, but if you're fighting for your life in a viciously competitive TV market, they're kind of hard to do.Also, instant gratification, the bane of the capitalist mentality. Anything that doesn't pay off inmediately is shunned and discarded.
Seriously. It got a second season on weak ratings. A full second season. That failed to pay off in any sort of subsequently higher ratings.
How many second chances does it deserve?
