[Discussion]: [Discussion] VI for Ryan Thunder?

A failed experiment whereby board users were invited to advise the Senate, and instead attempted to replace the Senate.

Should Ryan Thunder get a VI?

HoC vote & discussion threads are not binding; they are there to allow Senate & Mods to follow the general mood of the board about certain subjects. Since they're not binding, the rules of conduct regarding them are relaxed. Also, if the thread is cavalier and humorous, that can also be telling about the mood of the HoC regarding an issue.

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

I'll only agree to that if the Senate agrees to allow this in lieu of the VI title.

I mean, c'mon, if we're already kicking him the balls...

Since when? I have my complaints about the HoC, but I don't think that warrants a bunch of Senators stomping around going RARGH BLARGH FUCK YOU PLEBES and ignoring basic board rules.

It's probably because they're liable to come to conclusions that they don't like. Like giving me a title other than VI.

Just for the record, after reading over some of that old shit, I think I've earned it...

But yeah, he was a total prick in that Steel Dumping thread.

Are you accusing me of back seat modding? I started a thread, it got derailed a bit, and I'm not allowed to point it out? Fuck off.

Actually, yes I am accusing you of back seat modding. Sure, a light and even a bit spammy side track got taken by a few, me included, but it sure the fuck isn't your job nor mine to start yelling at people over it. You sure the fuck didn't 'point it out' rather your snippy vendetta against the Senate filled bitch was more than just that and if you want to smack someone around it does imply you think you have power to do so. You don't.

Where the fuck was I yelling at anyone about it? All I did was ask that you guys stop spamming a thread I started, and I tried to remind you that you don't get to enjoy the perks of your status without the responsibilities. One of which is to set a good example for regular posters.

This is the same sort of social control people have over you in daily life: if you're fucking around when you need to be professional, people can remind you that you need to act professionally, and sometimes a little shaming is how they do it. A moderator is more like a formal authority figure, he can tell you to stop doing what you're doing, and he can do something to you if you don't listen.

Or are you just pissed because I was right, and now you're embarrassed?

While HoC threads are non-binding, and conduct is relaxed, some respectful decorum is expected, at least by myself. The HoC allows the non-Senators a chance to air their opinions, and that allows for gripes and snipes too, if that is how people feel about it.

Go back to discussing the merits of Ryan Thunder's VI title. If people want to discuss the merits and/or pitfalls of backseat modding, start another thread. If this one degenerates too much more, and any faster, you'll soon have no choice but to start another thread.

And all should glory in this moment of irony; at the descent into foolish chaos while discussing if another guy should be called an 'idiot'.

Well, there's not much point to this thread anymore, since the Senate poll already has enough votes to be closed, and this poll has very similar results.

Why? It's one thing to think the idea fails on its merits, but is it really a huge affront to your sensibilities that the regular members would like a small say in how things are done on the board? You and Thanas are acting like the HoC is demanding root access to the server or something, instead of suggesting that maybe they get, what? A 5% say in Senate votes?

And at any rate, it's not an excuse for ignoring the board rules or declaring the HoC is "Testing by another name". I don't remember that vote.

Wasn't you, until you have a sockpuppet. And I don't think that is a fair assesment of my position. Hey, I can summarize your position as well "RARGH BLARGH MOAR POWR TO TESTING".

Oh, and please tell me why the HoC should now be something it never was supposed to be in the first place? It was created to have ideas brought up (yeah, what a great success that has been so far), not to take over from the senate.
