wow, what is most surprising about that book is the release date, 2/5/2008. It took him 25 years to get that out?

Here is another clip.

Looks interesting, I think I'll givr it a look. I must have been about 6 years old when I watched it, so I can't remember much... I do remember however that it scared the shit out of me...

I'm... honestly, I'm disquieted. In all these trailers, what I see is basically three camps. The first is obviously that of the visitors. The second is the general public, who ranges from "worshipping" the visitors to disliking them. The third is the skeptical church, which urges caution and looking for motives, and slowly draws closer to uncovering the sinister... I'm sorry, what was that again?

I mean, on the face of it, in the trailers' depiction, the misgivings of the church make absolutely no sense. Their chief complaint before the discovery of the Plan seems to be "oh noes, the visitors are inducing people toward something close to worship." So, uh, wanna tell me how that's a bad thing, this time without the hypocrisy? But given how the trailers use the Church and the scene in which the cross is tumbling, I think I know how the Christian angle is going to be spun already.

Just bothers me, I guess.

How on Earth does that not make sense? :wtf:

It's the Roman Catholic Church. Its main concern and purpose of existance is religion. If anyone, human or alien, starts inducing people to worship them, of course they're going to object! I mean, you may not have a very high opinion of their belief system, but you have to admit that to the Church it's the most important thing, and any perceived threat to it is going to worry them.

It's a religious institution being worried about people worshiping a different religion. Care to explain how is that ilogical?
So, uh, wanna tell me how that's a bad thing, this time without the hypocrisy?
For you it wouldn't be bad thing, but from the point of view of the Church it would be. Regardless of what your opinion may be about it, the Church doesn't see itself as hypocritical or wrong, so of course they'd consider it a bad thing if people started worshiping the Visitors.
Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.

I agree in that it makes sense for the church. I just thought V was about an alien invasion as it concerns humanity, not primarily the Church... oh, and then humanity.

Bingo. If this series is going to capitalize on an illogical viewpoint as having real and even universal validity, why would I want to see it?
