The Time Lords had machine-regeneration for a time but was primitive compared to the biological ability they ultimately achieved. The closest beings to have what the Time Lords had in terms of physiological restructuring ability were the Rutans but it was far more limited. None of the time-capable cultures presently out there in the Whoniverse have anything akin to Time Lord regeneration.
My guess is that when the time comes, the writers will make it a property of the TARDIS or come up with the idea that, as the last Time Lord, the Doctor has "absorbed" the regeneration potential of his people or some such Macguffin. Or the writers will simply forget about the 12-regeneration limit and carry on as if Robert Holmes and other writers had never even mentioned it at all. And no, they won't care if it's "canon" or not. Paul Cornell has stated flat-out that there is no canon in Doctor Who and the writers can do whatever they feel will work at any given time.
Or a function of the Doctor being half human. Whatever explanation they have for extending his regeneration I don't see why anyone has a problem with it, its Doctor Who. They ahve never been shy about pulling magitec from their butts, ie the TARDIS is now organic.
Back to the Companion though, she is definitely good looking but I kind of think its a mistake to continue the dynamic of male Doctor, female companion . The whole unrequited love thing is getting really tired but they invariably go their with the coed cast. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have two companions, one male one female and stop with the "I'm a lonely timelord" theme for a while.

The Doctor is not half-human. He has NEVER been half-human. You must trust me on this. I am the Master. You will obey me...

In regards to the topic, she certainly is a pretty one but it would have been better if the latest companion was a curmudgeonly man or someone in the vein of the Brigadier. It would kill off any chance for a lame school-girl romance/fixation over The Doctor. And it would be a nice contrast to Doctor Baby Face, at any rate.

I hate to admit it, but I agree with Stark on this. I'll give Matt Smith a try, but I really don't have any hopes for him.

Since the original series was able to avoid it for nearly three decades, I'd hope it'd be at all possible for the new series to stave off the whole destined love/perfect man thing for at least one companion. Seriously it wouldn't be that hard; just give the character a desire to get away from it all and grand adventure.
But they probably won't and instead go with what's easy and lazy.
EDIT: Wait, didn't they already avoid the whole thing with Martha? Or was that only because of all the Rose baggage?

Not really, she was pining for him since the second episode.

It must have been later than the second episode surely. Maybe the fourth? She did fall into the annoying habit of telling just about anyone she met she was in love with him despite him not noticing. Which was a pity because she was intially pretty cool and confident in at least Smith & Jones.
She was pining for him by the end of the first episode after the Doctor 'had' to kiss her so the Rhino cops would scan her or something. I also find it beyond retarded the Doctor was oblivious to her feelings towards him. That she went around telling everyone ELSE only makes the Doctor look like an idiot or a complete prick.
I kinda liked Martha if only because she came off as being more intelligent and mature than the brainless Rose or the 'bluff' Donna. If they had left out the stupid crush angle like the did in S4 it would not have been as bad.
I have the woefully feeling more romance garbage will continue since we have an even younger Doctor next to our pretty companion and decent original plots seem to be getting rather hard to find these days.
What they need is more companions who DO THINGS. Even Stephen with his spaceman FUCKIN SHOOT EM DOC stuff was more interesting; but Merchant Seaman Ben Confronts Changing Attitudes Towards Women was good too. Hell, even Public School Boys are Troubled and Evil and possible Satanists who are Really Political Prisoners from Another World was a cool idea if poorly executed. People with their own lives like Harry, even? Then they could constantly bring back characters all the time without it being absurdly lame.
Hell, they even did 'actual skilled woman' better IN THE FUCKING 60S with Zoe. Look at Ace ffs; what happened to companions reflecting the age they come from in an interesting way - even Rose arguably did this by being a bogan?!
Zoe was hilarious. I remember when she and the Doctor took an IQ test in the episode with the Krotons and she massively outclassed him, and he was really upset about it. Zoe was just a constant stream of 'oh yeah, by the way, I am better than you are'; like when she saved the Doctor from that pulp sci-fi hero. Damn, the old companions were pretty neat, like Harry.
Why can't we have Mickey as a companion? That would be boss.
He was, for three episodes in the second season. I think they would have had him as a full time companion that year, but Noel Clarke was (and is) a guy who's in quite a bit of demand.

He has only ever genuinely upset the vocal minority of obsessives like us who overanalyse pulp television and not really the wider audience, since there has never really being a viewer crash, with a high audience appreciation and critical reception remaining steady since S1.
I still think "Midnight" and "Turn Left" were genuinely excellent episodes, even if "The Stolen Earth" and "Journey's End" were both gung-ho fanwank that fell apart if you thought about them clearly for more than five seconds: two reasons why RTD was integral to making NuWho highly successful in the first place and the other two reasons why the RTD season finale formula is getting numbing.

The very same IMDb that said Norman Lovett would be Davros in Parting of the Ways?
Sounds like someone heard that Tennant's finale would involve the Master, then heard the rumours that Dalton would appear, and jumped to a spurious conclusion.
That IMDb post is pretty much a shot in a dark, when that episode is still many months away, but it would be boss to have Timothy Dalton as a guest star (but I wonder if other sci-fi veterans Colm Meaney, Alex Siddig, and Patrick Stewart will eventually crop up?).

WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT TIME LORD DOING THERE? THEY ALL DIED! ALL OF THEM BUT THE DOCTOR AND THE MASTER. THEY BURNT, EVERY SINGLE ONE WAS SLAIN BY THE DALEKS OR BURNT AT THE END OF THE WAR, TURNED INTO ASH AND DESTROYED UTTERLY. WHY IS THAT ONE THERE AND NOT DEAD? HOW DARE HE BE ALIVEEEE!
*Pants* Okay. Actually, I rather like the Time Lords. But if that's not Omega, I can't see how the fuck he should be alive. Well, actually, I can think of a way in short order, but I don't want them back so soon - another five years, and maybe the time will be right for them to make a limited appearance in the series again. But now, in a RTD finale? I have suitably low expectations, and the dread that they'll be back for a day then get cast into the void or something.

So what? Who gives a fuck what you think? Isn't taste and quality irrelevant before the almighty ratings? Why are you talking pompous bullshit (hilariously, that agrees with 'vocal minority of obsessives' even after you poisoned that well) when only ratings matter? Oh right, you're a hypocrite.
