Saddam and his hellspawned children have repeatedly threaten the US and its civilians, the people of Iraq have repeatedly burned our flag and called for our deaths. Seeing as how i'm an american civilian I will not shed a tear when that country gets torn down in a war. however once we get done with them i'd like the US to back out and let other countries take care of the rebuilding, funded by US dollars.

Practically is not the same thing as you're advocating.Ted wrote:Actually, the government practically is doing that.phongn wrote:We never asked him to remove his conventional forces. While we're busy scrapping our stuff, why don't you persuade your politicians to destroy the Canadian Forces while you're at it?Ted wrote:Disarm yourselves.
You're correct: my point is that it hasn't been weaponized; you're comparing an offensive program (Iraq) to a defensive one (United States). Now, if we had built up stockpiles of anthrax, botulism and smallpox to unleash upon the Warsaw Pact, you might have a point. And the Anthrax and small pox could easily be made weaponized.
i remember these american protesters after the columbia accident holding up "nuke iraq" signs.Darth Fanboy wrote:Saddam and his hellspawned children have repeatedly threaten the US and its civilians, the people of Iraq have repeatedly burned our flag and called for our deaths. burning flags is hardly a reason for an invasion.
You DID do that, why else would you have had those stocks in the first place?phongn wrote:Now, if we had built up stockpiles of anthrax, botulism and smallpox to unleash upon the Warsaw Pact, you might have a point.

Here's a chance to help support research into making evil bio-weapons.Stormbringer wrote:Yes, we must stop all legitimate medical research because some one could some how turn it into a weapon.Ted wrote:And the Anthrax and small pox could easily be made weaponized.

Dammit, I'm probably a future employee of Porton Down, the MoD's key bioweapon and chemical weapons R&D sector.Sonnenburg wrote:Here's a chance to help support research into making evil bio-weapons.Stormbringer wrote:Yes, we must stop all legitimate medical research because some one could some how turn it into a weapon.Ted wrote:And the Anthrax and small pox could easily be made weaponized.

I had a nice post typed up, then phpBB ate it.
The gist was that I meant that we haven't had any stocks to destroy since the 1970s - and we voluntarily destroyed them - thus your comparison was flawed.

More info
According to the latest info I've heard it was apparently an Air Defense CCC station.
That makes hitting it more acceptable.
I won't turn this thread into an arguement over the legitamacy of the NFZs.

Re: More info
Hrm...doesn't tell me too much (I like my specifics ) other than a C3 station was smacked. I'm going to assume that it was a Sector Operation Center, though it might have been a regional one.weemadando wrote:According to the latest info I've heard it was apparently an Air Defense CCC station.

Then what's shooting down the USAF's drones and tiring to do the same to its manned planes? Thats right, six thousand peices of AAA, dozens of radars, about fifty SAM sites plus mobile TEL's and the occasional fighter sortie.Ted wrote:The non-existant batteries and radar sites.Sea Skimmer wrote:Because it controls the batteries and radar systems which do the shooting.Ted wrote: How the fuck can a Command and Control Centre threaten pilots?
Thus the name.

The ones that have been destroyed over the past 11 years so that there is bloody all left.

Really? When have I complained about the US not doing anything to Iraq? And yes, I would be unimpressed if the US cozied up to Saddam. Wouldn't you?Stormbringer wrote:It might not be the prime though but why are you complaining about it when this will do good for the Iraqi people? You'd still complain if we did nothing or cozied up to Saddam.

You've certainly critisized us enough in cases when we've done nothing such as Africa.Darth Wong wrote:Really? When have I complained about the US not doing anything to Iraq? And I woud be. But we're doing what's right in the case even if it's not for the best reasons.
