Office of the Director of the Bothan Spynet, Polis Massa Planetary Historical Renewal Site, Polis Massa

Polis Massa was a backwater debris field in a backwater section of space. The PMPHRS was its only real attraction, as the Kallidahin toiled away in debris field searching for artifacts of the lost civilization they claimed to be their ancestors. The facility was also one of the locations where an official ‘Office of the Bothan Spynet’ was located, as the Director used the Bothan Government’s money to fund the Kalidahin’s search, the office was used for secure secret meetings between the Spynet’s shadowy director, and his most trustworthy agents.

The director sat at his desk, waiting for his meeting with a very important potential employee, an opportunity that would come only once in a lifetime for a career bureaucrat. He looked at the other being, a tall regal looking Pau’an, and suppressed his usual revulsion at the state of Bothan Society that his personal aide, the best of the best, was not a Bothan. He cleared his throat, “Fey, you did say that he would be here shortly, you’re slipping.”

The Pau’an simply smiled at the director, “Patience director, he will appear, and you will have your Jedi, just remember to be patient,” he paused as the light on the director’s desk lit, “Ah, there he is now, tell Four-dee to let our guest in.”

The Director glared at his assistant’s ability to time his statement to events that were completely out of his control, knowing the irrationality of that statement. The director tapped the desk, “Four-dee, our guest has arrived yes?”

”Yes Director, his ship has just landed and I will direct him to your office immediately.”

“Thank you,” he looked at Fey, “So, where is that datapad?”

“Right here, sir,” Fey responded, handing the director a datapad with the Spynet’s information about this particular customer.

As the director fumbled to refresh his memory, the Jedi entered the office with the ancient droid 1B-4D-GE3 who acted as the administrator of the empty offices while the director was at other less remote offices. The Jedi was a male human of a scrawny build, with nondescript features. His clothing was worn and ragged looking, yet was held together enough to discourage remember exactly what it was that the Jedi was wearing. Even the name he gave when he introduced himself was the definition of nondescript for humans, "Hello, I'm Jon Antilles, you must be the person the Spynet sent?"

The Director responded, "I am he. I have been told you would like to work for the Spynet."

"Yes," Antilles hesitated, "I have skills that I believe would be of use to the Bothan Spynet."

"Interesting, you're hired," the Director pulled a datacard from his datapad, "Go to the Crystal Trap in the Yag'Dhul system, the Spynet leader there will be able to assist you set up shop before your first assignment."

Result: Jedi 'Jon Antilles' joins the Bothan Spynet.

Subject: Trade Agreement between the Bothan Confederacy and the Imperial Remnant

We have reviewed the trade agreement you proposed, and found it perfectly acceptable. We wish to add a single addition to the trade though, we would like to work spare parts for Imperial I and II class Star Destroyers into the agreement. We are willing to part with a reasonable amount of some of the aforementioned resources agreed upon in your proposal, though we would prefer simply paying a fair price for the parts.
This is an empty country and I am it's king, and I should not be allowed to touch anything.

On his way home from the TSAB's shipyard opening Tul Setka had a chance to review any diplomatic messages that appeared in his inbox. He noticed that The Imperial Remnant had wanted to set up a trade pact with the Neimoidian Skakoan Confederacy. He would have to confer with the Trade Monarch but he was sure that the pact would be accepted. He sent the appropriate reply to the Imperial Remnant that the trade act would be accepted. Between this and the salvage operations discussed at the shipyard opening, he felt that the Neimoidian SKakoan confederacy was off to a good start.

OOC, Thanas your trade pact proposal is accepted.

Galactic News Network Special Report: Crisis in the Corporate Sector

The video begins with a handsome human male on screen, behind what appears to be a large conference room filled with various soldiers and diplomats.

"Hello, I am Millan Kendros, imbedded reported on Etti IV, the location for the triumphant forces of the newly styled Etti Alliance."

The video zooms onto a blue skinned near human, wearing white and golden robes, as he shakes the hand of a human wearing the uniform of the Corporate Sector Authority.

"Seen before you is the new leader of that Alliance, Emissary Mollari Thul, a former Imperial officer and Corporate Sector Authority officer, signing the treaty with the remaining Corporate Sector Authority systems."

The video then changes to a map of the Corporate Sector, with the 8 systems changing from the color coded for it to blue, representing the Etti Alliance. The new logo for the Etti Alliance, a stylized E and A outlined in gold, appeared with various shots of soldiers fighting each other, and ships attacking worlds.

"As you know, Emissary Thul and his forces broke away from the Corporate Sector Authority group, taking over 8 star systems in a lightning series of strikes. Rumors of Corporate aid have been denied by the new government, as have reports of rebellious CSA soldiers remaining on the new Alliance worlds."

The video cuts to a prepared statement made by Emissary Thul, with his name and title below him.

"I thank the Corporate Sector for its wisdom in ending this war and allowing the worlds of the Alliance the freedom they so richly deserve. And we wish to let the people of the galaxy know that business will still flow from this new Alliance, as will the wisdom and peace that our new ways will help bring."

The interview cuts away from that to several Imperial style Star Destroyers, in orbit around a shipyard.

"The new Alliance fleet plans to remain in Alliance space for now, to make sure the borders are secure, though there are talks of Emissary Thul visiting with several of the new factions that have been created. Emissary Thul also says he would welcome any such diplomatic overtures to the Alliance itself."

Imperial Diplomatic Corvette "The Peacemaker"
Exiting Hyperspace

Image
The Imperial CR-90 Corvette, "The peacemaker", exited hyperspace at the edge of the Etti System and began transmitting diplomatic codes. The ship was carrying ambassador Rilok Nor of the Shadow Empire. The ambassador was here to see if this new Etti alliance could perhaps be useful to the Empire. He would attempt to establish trading deals and perhaps a permanent diplomatic contact. The Emperor himself was interested in the leader of the Etti Alliance, so ambassador Rilok was instructed to gather information on him as well.

The corvette continued transmitting diplomatic codes and awaited a response from the locals.

The diplomatic codes were quickly received, and a small flotilla reverted into space before it.

"Welcome to the Etti Alliance, Shadow Empire ship Peacemaker. This is the EAS Strongbow. We have been ordered to escort you to Etti IV to speak with the Emissary Mollari. If you will follow the coordinates we're sending now, you can arrive with us quickly."

Transmitting the coordinates needed for the ambassadorial ship to follow the flotilla, the group prepares to head out. If the ambassadorial ship does so, then they quickly head to the Homeworld of the Etti Alliance, a beautiful shining jewel protected by several dozen capital ships.

After the proper codes were received and sent, the Peacemaker is allowed to land near the new Apostolic Palace, a grand design still being built. At the landing pad is an honor guard of soldiers, with a blue skinned man wearing black robes....

Meanwhile, at Ord Cantrell...

"I hope my offer is acceptable to you."

OOC: Sorry, I have only got time for a small update. A big one will arrive tomorrow.

Ord Cantrell

Being the head of the Diplomatic Corps, it fell to Feena D'Asta to await the ambassador's arrival. As he decended the ramp while the Red Guard stood at attention, she stepped forward and introduced herself.

"On behalf of the Imperial Remnant, welcome to this world. I am Feena D'Asta, Baroness designate of the D'Astan Sector. Would you please follow me?"

After courteous greetings were exchanged, the two were seated in one of the luxury suites of D-Purteen. "Ambassador, might I enquire the nature of your visit?"

The man smiled, raising a hand. As he does so, the datapad slowly lifts off the ambassador's hand and towards the blue skinned man. He looks it over, before nodding.

"Yes, I believe that your government and mine can do business." he bows his head.

"Tell me, what do you know of our worlds, and what do you require while here? We are currently building a new block of buildings for embassies, since the previous administration did not technically have ambassadorial duties..."

A... being steps out from the shuttle, wearing some sort of survival suit? Pressure suit? It was hard to tell.

Ignoring the soldiers around him, his helmet seems to pierce Lady D'Asta. His voice, coming from a voicespeaker, sounds somewhat etheral, yet imposing.

"Coruscant. It must be rebuilt."

Imperial de-facto Capital De-Purteen, Ord Cantrell, Imperial Remnant.

Feena D'Asta was taken aback by the appearance of the ambassador, but didn't let it show, bowing to the ambassador instead. “Ambassador, I would love to talk with you, but as I have an important meeting to attend, I would ask you to please enjoy our hospitality. I shall be back as soon as possible, but it might be a few hours. If you want to, you can start discussing details with my adjutant, Commander Presbin.”

Imperial Council Session

This was the most important meeting of the regular business year – the time when the Imperial budget was to be decided. What was scheduled to be decided upon in one meeting was actually the result of a month-long process that had largely been completed by thousands of Imperial staffers, but as usual they had ran into roadblocks that only the Imperial council itself could resolve. As usual, the ideologists on both sides had refused to part with their pet projects – the conservatives wanted a massive expansion of the military, the idealists wanted a massive effort in reconstruction, the pragmatists wanted both – and in the end the staffers had proposed a budget that would have spent four times as much money as there was to allocate.

The council had already deliberated about this three months ago, but had not come to any agreement as no plan had been finalized enough. Hopefully, this time Praji won't let anything slip that would cause Admiral Thanas to challenge him to a duel like last time – D'Asta thought. Although calling Gaeriel Captison a tree-hugging, traitor-loving slattern had been the highlight of the previous meeting. Thankfully, as Commander of the Imperial forces he had been able to order the two of them to desist from something that would cause the empire to loose two fine officer. In any case, while their greetings had been frosty, the two factions didn't seem to be willing to draw blood this time. Thanas was not present, as he was currently busy organizing convoys at Axum.

The real wildcards were the two persons situated at the end of the table – Mahd Windcaller and Kandon Secura. Windcaller being as always interested in the most profit for herself – while Secura was probably still angry about the tongue lashing he had received from D'Asta earlier for threatening another state with war. Secura had been acidly reminded that Ryloth was a drain on the empire's resources already, but if he wanted to go ahead and take on the Mid-Rim alliance, he would be welcome to do so with the few sticks that were left to him after the empire had packed up and left. That dammed young fool. Once more, a good guerilla fighter did not necessarily a good politician make, as the Rebel Alliance itself had proved.

With a swift move, D'Asta rose. “Gentlebeings, I call the 451st council session to order. Let us start with our roll calls. Voting members, please enter your official code at this time.” 10 votes. Four conservative, two idealist, Saenger will vote with me and two unknowns. Well, there are worse odds.

“I'd also like to welcome the non-voting members at this time. We have all been briefed on the diplomatic proceedings and I think I speak for us all when I say the diplomatic response to our offers has been overwhelmingly positive. My daughter's office is still busy replacing all the diplomatic charts with the updated information. I am especially pleased that a number of states has agreed to enter a defensive alliance with us. Now, let us consider the budget. Moff Saenger, please report the status of our economy.”
Moff Jurang Saenger rose. “Your excellency, gentle-beings. The influx of new trade has had an invigorating effect on our economy. In many cases, our industry is expanding and rebuilding at a great rate. Workers on my planet of Axum are now running triple shifts back-to-back in order to keep up with demand, the situation on other planets is comparable. As such, we have a great deal of funds to spend. The complete number is....”

After Saenger had finished, Regent D'Asta once more spoke. “Gentlebeings, I suggest we first vote on the expenditures that have to be met anyway. First, the budget for the Imperial forces has to be approved. Is anyone opposed to funding the continued operation of our armed forces, the continued reconstruction efforts on Coruscant and Anaxes, as well as the maintenance of our space stations?”

Nobody raised their hand. “Ecellent. I should also mention that resources have already been allocated for the construction of a Planetary shield network on Ryloth. As Vice-Admiral Thanas has informed me, the parts have already been manufactured by Axum industries and the convoy carrying them is currently being assembled at the Axum system. As we already approved this last year, we do not need to vote on it. We also approved Mahd Windcaller's special project on which she will give us a report at the end of this briefing.”

Now, let the haggling begin. “Now that the fixed costs are out of the way, please put forward your proposals. Yes, Lord Praji?”

“My fellow colleagues, Marshal Jir and I have spent a great deal of thinking about the strategic situation of our empire. And our conclusion is that we have a lot to be fearful of. The Sith are stronger than ever and right on our doorstep. Rebel factions are blooming everywhere in the galaxy. Therefore, we have come up with a plan that takes our needs into account. First, we present you with a build-plan for our shipyards that would increase the numbers of our ships by 72 over the next two years. Second, in that time, we will have increased the size of our army to 48 divisions. Third, our shipyards would have been joined by 12 new shipyards. You can find the details in your datapads.”

“Thank you, Lord Praji, and you, Marshal Jir, for your hard work. Now, I believe there is a counterproposal by Prime Minister Captison?”

“Indeed there is, Regent. My fellow colleagues, where Lord Praji sees danger, I see opportunity. Where he wants to make us fear our neighbours, we feel that different ideologies do not need to lead to war. My planet has succesfully integrated both Rebel and Imperials, indeed, one might say we married each other.” This quip was met with a cold stare by Praji and chuckles from the rest of the group. Gaeriel paused a moment before continuing. “More importantly, we feel that reconstruction has to have priority. We have currently signed many trade pacts and our industries are running at full capacity. But this does not help the needy and deserving people of Coruscant and Anaxes. We believe every effort shall be made to help ease their suffering. I shall not bore you with details, you shall find them in your datapad for your review.”

“Thank you. Moff Saenger?”

“My colleagues, I shall not bore you with speeches. We believe both aims are worthwhile and our budget should reflect this. What better way to reaffirm our commitment to all of our ideals than by passing a budget that shows why we chose to build this nation?”

D'Asta nodded. “Thank you. We shall take a short recess and then reconvene. All in favor?”

As the councilmembers filed out, D'Asta asked Gaeriel Captison to meet him in private.

Luxury resort, suite of Baron D'Asta
“Prime Minister, thank you for coming. Please have a seat, would you like something to drink?”
Gaeriel remained standing. “No, thank you. I think I know what this is about.”
“Prime-Minister-” “You are not going to let my proposal pass.”
D'Asta nodded. “No.”
“You want Saenger's proposal, which is only two steps removed from Praji's.”
“Yes.”
“This proposal may or may not pass.”
“Yes.”
“And you want me to withdraw mine to make it certain that his will pass.” A tinge of bitterness was now audible in her voice. “I will not do so. We could fully commit to rebuilding the two worlds.”
“Gaeriel, I want you to know that I do care about Coruscant. But people are not starving there anymore and - “
“No, instead they are now herded into emergency slums, parden me, emergency shelters. While Praji makes a nice living selling rations to them. What a lovely vision, one fit for .... are you alright?”

D'Asta's face had gotten more and more ashen while Gaeriel ranted. His glass of water fell to the floor and he would have fallen had Gaeriel not rushed forward and steadied him. Before she could call for a doctor, the Regent whispered: “No alarm. Syringe, behind the vase.” Gaeriel looked towards where his eyes were looking and after sitting him down on the couch, she quickly discovered a hidden cabinet with several syringes in it. After she had handed it to the regent, she looked in shock when he rolled up his arm and injected the whole dosage into a disguised shunt. After a few minutes, D'Asta put the syringe down and straightened his clothes. “Now you know my secret.” “So the rumours were true.” “Yes.” Gaeriel looked stricken, but then panic replaced sorrow. “How long - “ “Eight years, at best. The The doctors say I should never have subjected myself to this stress.” “But you did it anyway.” “Yes. For the good of those placed under my charge.”

Gaeriel nodded. “Feena.” “I would destroy this whole empire if it meant her being safe. When I am dead, the sharks will come circling. Praji is right, there is danger. We need to be prepared.” He held up a hand to forestall any protest. “But you are right too. We need to make sure our empire is healthy, not bogged down by reconstruction. And I do care, believe me. But I also believe the first year is crucial. Therefore, we have to prepare ourselves for a possible war – some firebrand is going to start one sooner or later. And when I am gone, someone has to make sure that Praji and you are not going to rip this empire apart.”

He reached for her hand and squeezed it. “Support me on this, Gaeriel, and I shall support full planetary reconstruction next year. I give you my word.”

Three hours later

“Gentlebeings, we have a budget. I think this deserves a full round of applause.”

In the end, with the withdrawal of the Bakuran budget proposal, passage of the Saenger plan was assured. As soon as Captison had withdrawn her proposal and endorsed the moderate one, Praji had followed suit, knowing that fighting against the combined forces of idealists and pragmatists would be useless. Still, he had gotten his wish – under the moderate proposal, imperial shipyards would be working day and night to keep up with the new orders.

With the budget being passed, the council turned to the regular business of the day.

“I believe Mahd Windcaller has a few things to say. Mylady?”

“Thank you, Regent.” Rising with the ease of one trained in the art of Echani, Windcaller pressed a button on her council seat, causing the holoprojector to rise to life. “Gentlebeings, one of our goals at reconstruction was the reestablishment of the galactic holonet. Today, Windcaller media company is proud to present our results. As you all know, the holonet emitters are still working in hyperspace, but the transmission stations were almost all destroyed. This has been rectified. One transmission stations has been placed at Coruscant, linking our Core worlds, whereas another has been erected at Ord Cantrell, not far from this place. With your permission, I would like to send the activation code.”

Ord Cantrell, Shaak mountain range.
The technicians received the activation signal. Within seconds, the major communications array started transmitting.

Ord Cantrell, council room

One by one, the planets appeared as holograms before the council as their planetary commands signed in. “Coruscant central reporting as ordered.” “Nez Peron receiving loud and clear.”
“Axum and Anaxes, awaiting your orders.” “Kaikielius, Ruan and Foerost central command here. Your orders, Sir?”

D'Asta rose, his eyes dancing with joy. “Thank you. That will be enough.” One by one, the planets disappeared as fast as they had appeared. “My colleagues, a round of applause for Mahd Windcaller.” After the polite execution of that request had died down, Windcaller continued. “At the moment, we are limiting the holonet to military and diplomatic channels, but I am confident that we will be able to gradually open it to the public and media, with full access being granted next year.”

And earning a nice little profit from the sale of licenses, I bet Feena D'Asta thought. Everybody else probably thought the same, but kept it to themselves. Instead, Gaeriel Captison rose. “Fellow colleagues, I hereby vote we fund an immediate expansion of the Holonet to Bakuran and Rylothian space as well as an offer to friendly nations to extend holonet access to them.”

Windcaller was ready for this. “An expansion into Bakuran and Rylothian space is planned, but as there had been few holonet emitters in the rim, this might take some time. In any case, we should start this in the next year – in the meantime my ships will search for the best ways to channel the holonet and search for already existing emitters. I am afraid we will have to live with the current 2-5 hour lag for a little while longer.”

After a few more minutes of discussion of technical details, the council turned to the diplomatic front and it was up to Feena D'Asta to speak.

“With our friends wanting to sign the alliance treaty with all its provisions on Coruscant, I think it is up to us to play host, so to speak. Therefore, I move we sent official invitations as soon as possible.” “Seconded, with one caveat – where do we sign it? A piece of rubble is not exactly confidence-inspiring. I can have one of my skyhooks relocated from Kaikielius to provide a more suitable arrangement”, Lord Praji said. “I disagree,” Gaeriel rose. “It is exactly the right message to send to the galaxy and the people of Coruscant – that we will not let this happen again and that we have not abandoned them – reinforcement that is desperately needed.”

“Why not do both?” Mirith Sinn, who had been quiet otherwise, chose this to speak. “Commemorate the dead by signing the treaty on Coruscant while also holding a service for the dead, then relocate to the Skyhook for speeches and declarations. Followed by drinking and dancing.”

After a short debate, this proposal was approved unanimously and Feena D'Asta proceeded to speak once more.

“Another issue are our relationships with the Concordat Alliance. Prime Minister Captison has already briefed us on this new nation and recommended that we deepen our relations with them. I have reviewed the material gained and I would concur. Their philosophy of state seems to correspond well to ours, as they too are a blend of former Imperial and Rebel officers. I therefore suggest we form a defensive alliance with them and have already approached this topic with our Core allies. They have no objections to us pursuing such a course of action, although this would of course not bind them. My suggestion would be to invite them to the signing ceremony as well and approach them there.”

After this plan was approved, the council then turned to the matter of the Sith. It was decided to approach the Shakari and if possible, construct a robotic listening station at the edge of their system. The council agreed that finding out the intentions of the Sith was their number one priority.

After this, the council dissolved and Feena went back to the meeting with the Etti ambassador.

To her surprise, he hadn't moved an inch.

“My apologies for the delay, ambassador. Shall we continue?”

Your excellencies.
The Imperial Remnant would like to extend an invitation to the signing ceremony on Coruscant. The ceremony shall take place as soon as possible. The signing itself will take place on Coruscant, with drinks followed at an orbital skyhook.

The dignitaries will gather in the Axum system with their respective entourage and then proceed to Coruscant. Please coordinate with the offices of Feena D'Asta and Moff Saenger and communicate the details of your arrival and entourage.
Second Communique to the Star Empire of Manticore, The Core Protectorate and the Corellian Empire:

Imperial engineers have rebuilt holonet access for the worlds of Ord Cantrell, the Nez Peron sector and our core worlds. The Imperial Remnant would be most willing to built holonet access stations at cost for its allies (OOC: meaning, I don't get anything out of it). The current time to completion for one station is one year, with the price for one station being.....(OOC: 25 points for 1 station, with one station being enough to service several close worlds, but not worlds that are far apart.)
Communique to the Concordat Alliance, delivered to Ambassador Pooja Naberrie on Ord Cantrell:

Your excellency.
The Imperial Remnant would like to extend an invitation to the Concordat Alliance for the signing ceremony of the Core Alliance Treaty, to be signed on Coruscant followed by a celebration.

We would also like to extend an offer for Imperial holonet access to your faction. As a sign of our mutual trust, we would be willing to construct several access stations for you at cost. We currently estimate that three stations with the main one at Naboo would be enough to grant you nationwide access.

I have been instructed to add the personal greetings by Prime Minster Captison to your most exalted Queen. Prime Minister Captison remembers your hospitality very fondly and would like to extend the same courtesy to your sovereign.

We hope you accept our invitation. If you do, please coordinate with the offices of Feena D'Asta and Moff Saenger and communicate the details of your arrival and entourage.

Yours respectfully,
Baroness-designate Feena D'Asta, Head of the Imperial Diplomatic corps.
Communique to all Nations:
The Imperial Remnant has rebuilt holonet access and as an offer of goodwill would like to extend that same access to friendly nations. Please sent your inquiries to the offices of Councilwoman the Lady Mahd Windcaller, chairman of Windcaller corporation.

AMT wrote: "Yes, I am Emissary Mollari Thul. Welcome to the Etti Alliance, ambassador. We do hope to become friends with your.. emperor."

Rilok Nor smiled. "And my Emperor, hopes to become your friend as well.", Rilok said, "It pleases me greatly to see trade between our nations is possible, I am sure it will bring much profit to both of us."

Rilok pauses for a moment, as if contemplating a decision, then with a smile he continues.

"The Empire has little knowledge of your worlds, beyond the basics, that is. But we wish to learn more, and with our new found friendship, I'm sure we will.", Rilok said, "As to what we require...we need only a small place where myself and several of my companions can reside, and also some room where we can set up communication equipment, with which to stay in contact with the Empire. I am sure that will not be too much trouble for you."

Rilok had completed the mission that he was given. The Emperor would be pleased.

"There is just one more thing...", he said, "The Emperor is away, on a business trip of some sort, once he returns - he wants to have a meeting with you, in person. He wishes to discuss a mutually beneficial agreement, for that purpose he has ordered me, to offer you his personal invitation - to Koros Major. It would please him greatly, if you said yes."

Ord Cantrell,

Marshal Jir's suite
Daine Jir was ready to leave for Foerost. With the holonet operational once again, there was no reason to stick around. Besides, he wanted to be closer to the sith border, where he could keep an eye on things. As he was about to walk out the door, the holoprojector flickered to life and a hologram of Commander Ganner, head of Council security, appeared. “Field Marshal, there is a transmission marked private from Kaikielius to you.”

Praji nodded. “Very well. Engage encryption and privacy mode, then put it through.” “As you wish, Sir.” Ganner disappeared and was replaced with the image of a man standing at attention, the rank insigna designating him as Captain of the Line. “Marshal Jir, sir. The Retaliator has completed its mission.” “At ease, Captain. What were the results?”

The Retaliator, a veteran of the Battle of Endor, had been sent under the command of one of Praji's most trusted men to scour the known locations of Imperial storehouses and secret depots. As such, it had carried a full complement of Imperial technicians. Now, after almost eight month of worrying if the trip would stay secret, it had returned.

Captain Hunt relaxed a bit. “Sir, I regret to inform you that almost all Imperial storehouses either turned out to be empty, traps or containing things of little value.”

“That is disappointing, Captain. What things of little value?” “We picked up fuel dumps, several weapon prototypes that had been ruled non-feasible.” “Wayland yielded little results?” “Yes, Sir. We were able to enter the flooded sections Grand Admiral Thrawn chose not to investigate and discovered that the flood had destroyed all computer databanks but one, which we were able to access . As per your orders, we recovered everything tangible and intangible and transferred all cargo to Lord Praji's underground storage facility fourty minutes ago. A manifest of our cargo and the casualty lists is now transmitted to you.”

Hunt leaned forward, evidently pressing some button and then straightened himself up again.

“Sir, our losses have been replaced by the Kaikielius defence force. We have restocked consumables and replaced spent reactor fuel. I am proud to say the Retaliator is ready for new orders.”

Jir nodded. “Very well, Captain. I may soon have something for you. In the meantime, stay under the radar. Jir out.” The hologram ceased to exist and Jir looked at his datapad.

Well, let's see. Casualties: 318 stormtroopers and 923 technicians as well as 17 fighter pilots due to hidden traps. Could be worse. Items recovered: Sith artifacts, - kriff if I know what they are good for - ,Jedi lightsabers, artifacts from the Jedi temple – useless again - Several useless prototypes – as if we didn't already have enough of those around - several dead Jedi in carbon stasis units, evidently used as Wall decorations, identified as Order 66 and subsequent Purge victims – as if we didn't have enough dead fools around – a few tons of reactor fuel – several weapon emplacements – Imperial ceremonial robes – bodies of dead technicians apparently killed by Joruus C'Baoth or killed by the flood - aw, kriff it. It would have been too nice to finally catch a break.

Jir skipped the rest of the list and then looked upon the information retrieved.
Imperial order of battle during the time of Tarkin's appointment – outdated – plans for destroying the Rebel Alliance – yeah, we all know how that worked out – more useless junk. A plan for a test center in the Maw, data severely corrupted – sure, let's built our weapons center on top of black holes.

Disgusted, Jir forwarded all information to Lord Praji before heading out, preferring to spend time on more productive endeavours.

Axum system
VSDII Pride of Bakura,
Admiral's quarters

A great fleet, Vice-Admiral Pter Thanas thought as he watched his forces assemble.
On the perimeter of his fleet, four Assassin class corvettes constantly raced forth and back, fulfilling their obligation as pickets. Closer in were four Carrack Cruisers, providing anti-starfighter and anti-corvette duties and guarding the heart of the formation – 3 Vindicator class cruisers and two VSDII, including his own ship, aranged in a diamond formation around four Bulk freighters. Although old and almost headed for the scrapyard, their manifest listed them as carrying the most valuable cargo he could find – the parts for the planetary shield generators destined to be erected at Ryloth. A great deal would hinge on those parts getting through – with a planetary shield in place, slavers would find it close to impossible to get to the Twi-Leks. Which is why half the Bakuran fleet had been detached to guarding this convoy.

“You are sure that you will succeed?” Thanas turned around and faced the life-sized hologram of his wife. “We have to.”

Gaeriel's image nodded. “I hear our proposal was dropped?” “I had to. There was no chance of success. But at least I managed to get a promise for next year.” To the vast majority of people, Captison would not have looked the least disturbed. But Thanas knew his wife better. “Is something troubling you?” Gaeriel shook her head. “No. Except the thought of you being out there and me being here...” Thanas knew that she was lying, but he had also learned Gaeriel would come around when she wanted to. There was no sense in pressing her, especially not when he was about to embark on a perilous journey. “Hopefully, we'll see each other soon”. A green light indicated that the fleet had finished all preparations. “I'm needed on the bridge. Goodbye, my love.”

*************

In one fluid motion, the Imperial ships jumped into hyperspace. Thanas and his flag captain Ossilege had plotted a long-winded route that would take several hyperspace jumps and over a week to complete, striking the perfect balance between secrecy and speed. And thanks to the hidden program in the navcomputer of one of the freighters, all of it had already been transmitted to Leona Tavira.

Results:
- the mission to find secret weapons was met with little success, finding only relics or non-useful information.
- VADM Thanas and his fleet are on the way to Ryloth, not knowing Tavira had set a trap for them.

Dromund Kaas
Image
Dromund Kaas had once been home to the ancient order of the Prophets of the Dark Side, but most of them had been destroyed during the cataclysmic Battle for Coruscant. What remained of the once-glorious order was a shadow of its former self, a dark remnant grappling with a changing galaxy and all too eager to align itself with whatever newly reigning dark powers. It was thus an excellent place for this meeting: whoever emerged a winner here was virtually assured of the loyalty of the Mages of Dromund Kaas. That was a powerful incentive for all of today's visitors to come to some sort of accord.

Hadrian Kuat was the first to arrive. His shuttle emerged from hyperspace and landed on the given coordinates. The shuttle was given sensor stealthing coating, that reduced its sensor cross-section. Two persons wearing black cloaks disembarked and were met by two Sith Marauders. Hadrian Kuat pulled his hood back, and growled, "This here is my grandson. I am here on the permission of your masters. And you will show me respect." With that he revealed a glowing crystal embedded in a glove; one of the rare few Sith artefacts, and the crystal glowed with dark side power. The two Sith Marauders backed off and bowed and allowed them to pass.

A mere hour later a Sith Infiltrator spacecraft burst out of hyperspace high over the planet and instantly engaged its stygium crystal-powered cloaking device, creating an invisibility field which could sneak through even the most advanced of security technologies. The reborn Sith Empire relied heavily on such stealth technologies, which all too prudent given the prevailing opinion of Force-sensitives and their religions in the galaxy. The Empire had much to gain by remaining hidden, and even more to lose by being exposed. Given this, the occupants of the vessel approaching Dromund Kaas were taking quite the gamble.

Aboard the Infiltrator were only three people: Hariman Jacht, who piloted the vessel personally, and two Sith Assassin bodyguards, their stealth field generators currently switched off. The Sith Lord had left his right hand woman behind: Mari Indigo excelled at her duties, but she was no Sith, and she didn't understand the intricacies that came with the title of Dark Lord. To her it was all a bunch of religious mumbo-jumbo and to some extent that was why Jacht trusted her so much. After all as a fallen Jedi she was not bound to the code of the Sith, so hopefully she wouldn't be so hung up on the old Sith concept of apprentices eventually slaying their masters. As long as she remained convinced theirs was a more-or-less equal partnership he wouldn't have to worry about getting stabbed in the back with a lightsabre--or at least not as much as he otherwise would have to.

But that was a train of thought for another time, Jacht considered as he pivoted the craft around in mid-atmosphere and brought it to an elegant halt in the midst of a forest clearing. Vile-looking trees and fungal colonies towered over the sleek Infiltrator. The long-forgotten world of Dromund Kaas had once been one of many planets colonized by the original Sith Empire, and this bog surrounding the Temple was a nexus of dark side energies. This was a place imbued with the legacy of the Sith; a place befitting a historic meeting between two branches of the ancient order long divided.

Hariman Jacht paced down the descending ramp of the spacecraft. Silently the two Assassins took up position behind him and engaged their stealth field generators and Force cloaks. They would be practically invisible now. Jacht doubted their skills would hold up very long against a truly skilled Force adept, as he was sure the Emperor would be, but then Jacht was no small fry himself and his Assassins' techniques might just buy him the upper hand if this meeting were to turn sour.

The Dark Side Temple was only a relatively short distance away across the boggy soil, a brooding, evil-looking monolith guarded by ancient statuettes enchanted with obscure power. Recognizing the approaching visitor as truly worthy the glow in their stony eyes died down and they remained motionless, granting Jacht the free passage he rightfully deserved as one of the inheritors of the Sith legacy. Shadowy figures moved in the darkness: Marauders no doubt, or other dark skirmishers. Jacht paid them no mind, but paced directly toward the towering obsidian temple doors. Slowly they slid open, revealing a sanctum covered in darkness only sparsely illuminated by orange glow-globes.

Not entirely to the Sith Lord's surprise there was somebody already there. He was, however, surprised when he found out who that person was.

"Hadrian of Kuat", Jacht concluded as he recognized the man opposite him. He tried to hide his bemusement as he continued. "I did not expect to find you here."

"And you must be Hariman Jacht. I have indeed been waiting for you." Hadrian of Kuat rose and drew his lightsaber and revealed the Sith Power Armor he wore. Made from Phrik and Cortosis and a number of other rare minerals, they could stop a lightsaber. In some ways, the Sith Power Armor made up for a number of deficiencies, for Hadrian did not excel in combat, but more in Sith powers and the armor gave him added agility which he would otherwise not have. "Draw your lightsaber. Let's see what sort of Sith you are."

The challenge had been inevitable. They were Sith, it was their way. Hariman smirked and unclipped the electrum lightsabre from his belt with a casual show of telekinesis. "Very well, old man." Unlike Hadrian the Master of Korriban was dressed in simple black garments, foregoing the protection of armor in favor of maximum agility. In combat Jacht relied solely on his abilities as a master duellist and, of course, his connection with the Force. The dark side blossomed within him, its power resonating through the sanctum like tendrils of black lightning. The crimson blade of the lightsabre hissed into existence and the Dark Lord launched himself at his opponent.

Lightsabre struck lightsabre, and for a moment only the crackling of the energy blades echoed through the dark of the sanctum. Then Jacht and Kuat exchanged a flurry of blows in a moment's notice, each side in turn attacking and parrying as the two duellists measured the other for strengths and weaknesses. The dark lord smiled. The old man knew how to handle a sabre. Excellent: it had been too long since he'd met a worthy opponent. Jacht's blood sang with the ecstasy of combat. Invisible tendrils of dark side energy coiled around him, sending tremors through the Force. Laughter bubbled from his lips. Hariman Jacht reached down into the black well at the core of his being and touched the dark power within him. The world seemed to slow. His blade was a blur. Nothing human could match his speed.

But Hadrian of Kuat was no ordinary human, he was a Sith Lord. Through his awareness of the Force he sensed his opponent's every move before it was even made and he moved, decisively and with clockwork precision, to block each of his opponent's vicious strokes. Jacht was a showy duellist, aggressive but overly fond of flashy moves and the brusque, precise combat form practiced by the Kuati master held up well against the rain of blows. Aided by the whirring servos of his armored suit he parried a thrust, ducked under a second and flipped himself over a third. He stood at the centre of a whirling maelstrom of what seemed at times half a dozen blurring energy blades, the Force guiding his lightsabre as if it had a mind of its own. But not for long, he thought. For all his prowess he was no duellist and his opponent showed no sign of tiring. When Jacht swept his blade in an unusual way Hadrian was slightly too slow to react and his opponent's lightsabre nicked his gauntleted hand. The superficial blow failed to damage the Phrik weave, but it was enough to irritate the dark lord.

“Enough of this!” Kuat snarled, thrusting out his hand in a warding gesture. Ripples reverberated out through the Force, manifesting as a concussive burst of pressurized air that struck Jacht by surprise and sent him hurtling through the room. He quickly mastered his surprise however, telekinetically stabilizing himself in midair and landing lightly, lightsabre in hand.

Still the push had succeeded in creating some distance between Kuat and his opponent, leaving the Sith lord free to call upon his awesome dark power and conjure up storm of raw elemental energy. Hadrian of Kuat unleashed a torrent of arching blue lightning upon his opponent. But this time the Force warned Jacht in time and he used his lightsabre to deflect the ripples of energy into the obsidian walls of the sanctum. “You have some moves on you, old man”, the Master of Korriban smiled, his face illuminated by the crackling stream of energy and the ruby-red blade of his sabre.

The torrent of lightning ceased. Hadrian of Kuat lowered his hand and extinguished his blade. “So it appears do you. This is enough... For now.”

Jacht shrugged and turned off his own crimson lightsabre. “Fair enough.”

The two men approached each other warily. They were Sith; they each knew many ways to kill a man, with or without Force or lightsabre. Among their kind treachery was always possible, if not inevitable, so the truce that had been called was a guarded one at best.

"Why would a group of Sith be hiding on Korriban?" Hadrian of Kuat let the question linger in the air. "It seems ironic even that a group of Sith should re-emerge from the tomb world itself. Were you originally one of the Inquisition of Palpatine, the Accursed? Or did Palpatine train you himself?"

“I was once a Hand of the Emperor, one of Palpatine’s ghost assassins. I moved in secret, and what my master wished done is what I did. Well, to a point.” Jacht smirked. “On one of my missions to the Outer Rim I stumbled across the holocron of Darth Runaal, an ancient renegade Sith master who did not believe in the Rule of Two. I found it... Profoundly enlightening. I began to seek more of this arcane knowledge. And as I learned I began using my position in the hierarchy to assemble a circle of like-minded collaborators." The smirk widened into a grin. "I even took an apprentice. And in the chaos after the emperor's first death I slipped away to Korriban to muster my forces. As a Hand I knew how to strike from the shadows; on Korriban, I discovered the ancient ways of the Sith Assassins. It seemed only natural to combine the two." He peered at the older master. "And how about you? How did a Lord of the Sith come to be master of the shipwright's imperium?"

"That is another tale in itself. Before Palpatine took control of the dying Republic, some 40 years ago, he sought allies and among the allies he sought, was Kuat Drive Yards. Foreseeing that Kuat Drive Yards would prove instrumental to the future Empire, he revealed that he was a Sith Lord and that if Kuat Drive Yards pledged his allegiance, he would grant the company a premier position within the future Empire, and near exclusive rights to military contracts from the Empire. In return however, he sought apprentices, or rather to be more specific, hostages. I and my twin brother was offered from one of ruling families of Kuat. Finding that two of us had potential in the Force, but seeing us as less than ideal successors, he trained both of us, but refused to give us any of his deepest knowledge. Of course, between me and my brother, we always regards Palpatine as too much a schemer to be trusted and fearing our lives, we agreed not to interfere in the affairs of the Empire, in return for our loyalties. Palpatine then became preoccupied with Skywalker, and pretty much ignored us for the next few decades. Both of us have undertook further studies of the ways of the Sith, travelling to various places sacred to the Sith, including the remnants of Malachor V and in the Unknown Regions. While Malachor V has pretty much disintegrated into rubble, the Force remains strong in that place, and one could even hear the howls of the dead that continue to linger there whispering in our ears of their deaths, their secrets, and some of knowledge that has been lost forever.

However, it was decided between me and my brother, that we should spread ourselves out a little, in the view of the need to... spread our wings..."

"You have a brother..." A smile crept across the face of the Master of Korriban. "I see. That explains it. It was your brother's flunkie that showed up on my throne world. Speaking of which... Where is he?"

"Right here.", a voice echoed through the ancient temple and a dark figure fell from somewhere above, landing effortlessly next to the two slightly surprised Sith Lords, "An interesting fight... Hope he wasn't too much trouble for you brother." The newly arrived Darth Imperius had a smile on his face, but it could not be seen due to the black sith mask he wore. "I would have made my presence known sooner, but I did not wish too interrupt you, brother. You looked like you were enjoying yourself.", Darth Imperius said and approached the two Sith Lords, he looked intently at Jacht, his mask hiding his expression and the red glow from his eyes giving little indication of the Dark Lords thoughts. "Finally we meet.", he said, "My flunkie has told me much about you." The Dark Lord laughed. "I was intrigued to see our suspicions turn out to be more than justified.", Imperius said and approached Jacht even further, now standing only a few inches from his face, "The question is, will you be our ally or our enemy?"

Imperius looked at Jacht as if trying to see inside his very soul, then after a moment he continued.

"There is a reason I invited you here.", Imperius spoke and turned away from Jacht, "The Galaxy is splintered, so many factions wying for control, so many new leaders hoping to forge out their own Empires or Republics from the dust of the old." The Dark Lord folded his hands behind his back as he walked through the ancient temple. "This is our time. The Sith must rule the Galaxy once more. Only this time we cannot allow ourselves to be destroyed by our own dark nature.", Imperius turned once more to face Jacht and his brother, "We have an offer for you Mr. Jacht, we want you to join us - to become one of us. Together the three of us shall reform the Sith Triumvirate, and together we shall claim this Galaxy for ourselves." Darth Imperius paused for a moment, observing Jacht's reaction - before continuing.

"Of course our little arrangement would be kept secret, for you see there is purpose to our methods.", Imperius said and looked at his brother, a smile hiding beneath his dark mask, "I am the only one of us whose existence is known to the Galaxies inhabitants. In me they see the Sith, the enemy - something to fear, something to fight against. They will rally against me sooner than later, because of this your ties with me must be kept secret. As our enemies focus on me, they will leave themselves exposed. While I am their enemy, you and my brother can be their friends and allies - and when the time is right, you will strike from the shadows and stab them in the back. They will fall before us, one by one - and soon the Sith shall rule the Galaxy once more!"

A thin smile crept across the face of Hariman Jacht. "An interesting proposition", he considered and scratched his chin, a gesture so profoundly human it seemed almost blasphemous in this dark company. "You two have power, about this there can be no doubt. And your plan appeals to me- draw the attention of our foes in one way, then unexpectedly strike from another." His smile grew grim as he peered at the masked Emperor before him. "I can see you studied under Palpatine. I hear he used to be fond of such shadowplay himself, before his ascension to ultimate power robbed him of common sense. As for myself... I like it. And if there ever was a time to make our move, now, this time of strife, would be it. So, I accept your offer. Let us reform the Triumvirate and rule this galaxy with force and deception."

"Force and deception indeed," said Kuat of Kuat. "But we must be wary. This is a galaxy that has for begotten reasons grown tired of Force Users lording over them. Somehow these fools think they can surpass us in terms of power and foresight. Perhaps it is time to return to a time similar to that of the Old Sith Empire; where the lesser beings worship us, and except our lordship gladly. And with an army of loyal followers, we lead a crusade against a galaxy of unbelievers and heretics and burn them in fires of their own creation. The Old Republic was after all born out of similar fires.

We must also be wary of rival Sith and Jedi. There are probably remnant Jedi scum lying around, not thanks to Skywalker and his ilk. Palpatine might have trained more force users who survived somehow the destruction of Byss and the Devastation of Coruscant. We must hunt the Jedi down and break them to our own ends."

"Oh there are Jedi out there all right", Jacht said with a spiteful smirk. "One of them is my right hand woman. Your brother's lackey has met her. She has fallen from the light of course--the death cry of so many of her kin at Coruscant saw to that. But where there is one, there can be more, and not all will have turned. We should be wary of them indeed. The Sith have underestimated the Jedi before... With grave results."

"Indeed. The idealistic fools think the universe is perfect and try to play galactic policemen. Ridiculous," said Darth Mechanicus. "So is it settled? Shall we ally ourselves and work as one? The galaxy is now a tumultuous place. Stand apart and we will fall one by one, and I am loathe to give any one control over Kuat Drive Yards." Darth Mechanicus let the question hang in the air. The Dark Side was strong in this place, and it almost seemed as if there were many listening into the conversation. A feeling of suspense filled the room as the spirits of the Dark Side gathered around the meeting room. They had seen their share of plotting and scheming that had taken place in Dromund Kaas. It seemed that history would repeat itself again once more.

They gathered round what seemed to be some form of altar. Here, the old Sith Lords sacrificed their minions in some dark alchemical ritual. The Sith Lords pulled back their sleeves, and took out knives. They held their arms above the dark stone.

"As one, three", said Jacht and slit the palm of his hand with the wickedly sharp ceremonial blade. Blood spilt from the wound, spattering crimson stains on the obsidian altar. He looked at the two brothers. "Thus I pledge myself to the Triumvirate."

"As do I pledge myself to this Triumvirate," said Hadrian. He slit his palm with a serrated knife. It was a combat knife that was now being issued en masse in the Imperial Guard. Blood split to the obsidian altar, and the obsidian altar seemed to soak up the blood gladly; it's black surface radiated with the Dark Side of the Force.

"As one, three. I pledge myself to the Triumvirate.", Darth Imperius said and took the knife from his brother and slit his palm, the blood spilt on the altar - the dark side seemed to strengthen as the blood of three Sith Lords combined, forming a Force Bond of dark side energy that intwined the three members of the reestablished Triumvirate. Helixes of dark power whorled through the sanctum, and the ancient stones of the black temple shrieked and groaned as vast energies boiled up and pressured the force wards that protected this place of shadows.

Then the storm of dark side energy abated, as abruptly as it had come. Hariman Jacht drew a deep breath. His mind was still reeling from the sheer force the ritual had conjured up. "Well, that was... Interesting."

"Indeed. Quite Interesting.", Imperius laughed, "Our purpose is achieved. The Triumvirate is formed."

Palace of the Sith Lords, Korriban

Mari Indigo sat at the massive stone desk where Hariman Jacht usually sat. At least that part of the arrangement felt good. The dark lord himself was off wandering the galaxy somewhere, leaving her in charge of the Sith Empire which, unfortunately, often wasn’t nearly as great as it sounded. Most of the time she spent on handling administrative matters rather than the sort of affairs that actually befitted a dark Jedi.

With an annoyed sigh she finished the latest document and passed it through the acolyte who functioned as her clerk. “Pass this to the governess”, she said. “And if anyone wants anything from me, I’ll be in my sanctum.”

That was a diplomatic way of telling everyone not to disturb her at their peril, and the acolyte nodded hastily. “I will relay your will, mistress.”

“You had better.” Indigo stood up, wrapped her cloak about her, and swept out of the room, muttering about dark lords and their strange ways under her breath as she did.

Dominion Centre, Giedt, Tiss’Sharl

“These are the definite orders?” President Si-De-Sid of the Tiss’shar leafed through the folder of datapaper, a motion that looked odd on the giant reptilian. “New ships, new shipyards at Tiss’sharl... The league councillors will be pleased.”

“I hope they will”, responded the governess of the Gordian Dominion. “Because I will need the help of several of them to... Evaporate these resources.” She passed another file to Sid-De-Sid, who peered at it with large, unblinking eyes.

“Interesting” the reptilian finally responded. “This is a lot of material. I figure that, as usual, we don’t be told where to these resources vanish?”

“No. But you are properly compensated”, she motioned at the files indicating the orbital construction that would take place in Tiss’shar’s orbit.

“That we are”, the president bowed. “I will arrange it. Our agreement remains a profitable one.”

“That it does”, smiled Marlos Durell. “That it does.”

Core Districts, Mirial

Senator Ossus Druul of the Miralian League rolled into bed, tired of a day's worth of work. The League was at a stalemate: there were those who seemed to wish nothing but to submit to the Gordian Dominion. They were fools, all of them, falling for the sweet promises made by the Governess' insipid diplomats.

Diplomats, pshaw! That was far too good a name for them. Corruptors they were, who would swoon and bribe him and his colleagues until they would sign away Mirial’s future and independence for the promise of future treasures. Ossus did not know what the Dominion's game was but surely they were up to something. States did not just turn up one day offering peace and plenty. The galaxy did not work that way. Luckily he and his nationalists had the upper hand in the League so far. As long as Ossus Druul yet lived, Mirial would be free. Smiling as he savoured the thought the senator sank into a deep sleep.

So catatonic was the senator that he was oblivious to the soft whooshing sound as the door to his bedroom opened. Scant seconds passed, and then a choking gurgle escaped from Ossus’ throat as an unnatural, intangible force clenched his cardiac muscles shut. It was over in minutes. Ossus Druul never stood a chance.

Behind his stealth field the Sith assassin Jared Veicht smiled down at the corpse of the senator. The principal opponent of the treaty with the Dominion was dead, and with any luck the poor fools who would find him in the morning would write his untimely demise off as a fatal heart attack. Either way no-one would be the wiser. His master would be pleased.

Result: Fluff!

Mar Tukk was busy signing bills that had just passed received a notice that the first budget had passed through Parliament. As he read it he was pleased at the expenditure so far. He quickly gave the budget his approval. He than noticed that the Bothan Confedracy had wished to establish a trade pact. He quickly approved this trade agreement as well.

Result My budget for the first year is passed. Also Karmic Knight your trade pact is accepted.

The Imperial Times
Newspaper for Coruscant, Anaxes and Axum.

The new budget

The Imperial Ruling council today unvealed the procurement plan for the next year.

Anaxes reconstruction funded
It was a proud day today for Moff Saenger as he announced that thanks to the massive increase in trade and industrial production, the reconstruction of the planet Anaxes could proceed at full speed.
“Thanks to our trading partners, what would have been a venture of decades has now turned into a matter of less than a third of that time. We currently predict that Anaxes will be fully rebuilt by 6-8 years,” Saenger said. Following the announcement, crowds gathered on Anaxes in an ad-hoc celebration.

It is currently unknown how this will impact the voting bloc on the council. If Anaxes were to be rebuilt, Moff Saenger's voting power would most likely increase from one to two votes based on precedent, though it is not sure if the council will approve of this.

Coruscant future clouded in doubt
Although Moff Saenger tried to present positive news to the Coruscant people – namely, that the council had approved the funds for another year of standard relief and reconstruction – the news that reconstruction activities would concentrate on Anaxes this year was taken with frustration. People were quoted as saying “Why did they have to spend money on that bloody rock?” or “What has Anaxes ever done for the galaxy compared to Coruscant?”

Massive infrastructure investment in core worlds
In a surprising announcement, Regent D'Asta revealed that the Empire planned to strenghten the industry of the Core worlds. According to him, such a massive investment would both speed up reconstruction and also improve the Imperial Remnant's shipbuilding capacity. The Imperial budget calls for a 3600m shipyard to be constructed at Axum, with a single 1600m shipyard to be constructed at Anaxes. Furthermore, a 2500m long Type II Orbiting Repair Yard is to be constructed at Coruscant. Regent D'Asta stressed the importance of the latter for strengthening the Coruscant economy. According to speculation, the Repair Yard will be used to speed up salvage operations around Coruscant.

The Kaikielian Herold

Expansion of the Imperial military planned

The new budget can only be seen as a political victory for our Lord Protector, His excellency the Field Marhal Nahdonnis Praji, IRC, Governer-General of Kaikielius, Foerost and Ruan. As the Herold has learned, Foerost arms and munitions company, a subsidiary of House Praji, has been awarded a no-bid contract to equip the new divisions of the Imperial Army.

According to the new budget, The Imperial Army will field two new heavy divisions as well as six new heavy infantry divisions. While they will be drawn from planetary garrisons all over the empire, each and every single one of them will be fitted with gear manufactured by House Praji.

We can only thank our Lord Protector for securing new jobs for our economy and new career opportunities for our citizens.

The Nez Peron Gazette

D'Astan shipyards to expand
According to the New Imperial budget, a 1600m shipyard will be built at Nez Peron to expand the capabilities of D'Astan Shipyards, Inc. D'Astan Shipyards, the galaxy's largest manufaturer of transport and shuttle craft, released a statement today that they would be proud to expand their production lines and that this new shipyard would not signal a change in direction as they would work on expanding their lead in shuttle craft. As evidence they cited the contract for the new 36 VT-49 Decimators they received.

Scimitar wing to be reconstituted
The legendary Scimitar wing, known as “White Death” amongst the enemies, will be reconstituted using survivors from the unit as well as the best pilots of the Remnant currently not flying in the 181st. The wing will consist of three squadrons of Scimitar Assault Bombers covered by three squadrons of TIE-Advanced.

Marshal Jir noted that such a high-profile unit would signal a commitment to Imperial values. As stated in the Imperial history, this unit was specialized for ground and ship assault, but disappeared from Imperial records after the death of GADM Thrawn.

It is currently unknown where the White Death will be stationed once the new fighters are built and the pilots have finished training.

The Guardian
Newpaper of record for Bakura

Editor's opinion
The Imperial budget highlights once more the deficiencies of our society. What better example than the new procurement plan for the Imperial Navy? Under the new budget, the Imperial Navy will expand by four VSD-IIs, eight Carrack Cruisers and 36 VT-49 Decimators. Disregarding the morality of investing in new machines of war, let us review the procurement process. The Imperial Ruling Council apparently decided it to be a wise idea to award the VSD contracts to Bakuran Heavy Industries Inc., whereas the Decimators went to D'Astan Shipyards, with the Carrack Cruisers being split between the two and Axum's various manufacturers. While it is certainly true that these companies all possess the experience for building these kind of ships, they will all have to subcontract throughout the empire in order to meet these orders. Under these orders, the shipyards will have to work 100% to meet the goals. We do not need to go into the various evils of subcontracting – they are well known.

What is more puzzling to us is how Prime Minister Captison could have voted for that plan, while discarding her own proposal. Leaked documents indicate it would have eschewed funding of new ships and divisions in favor of concentrating on Coruscant. Research indicates that if the funds of Anaxes had gone to Coruscant, the capital world of the Galaxy might have been rebuilt. So why did Prime Minister Captison disregard her duty to the starving citizens of Coruscant? Maybe it is the influence of Ord Cantrell – situated in the most luxurious of resorts in the galaxy, maybe she has lost touch with the common people. Or maybe it is the influence of her husband, a military officer? Whatever the case, Captison has disappointed many followers with her latest turnaround.

It is sadly likely that this will not have any influence at all on the upcoming elections. With employments numbers lower than ever, immigrants flocking to Bakura, the industries reporting record growth for the third quarter in the year and with the support of the retired elite like her Uncle Yeorg, Mrs. Captison is destined to win re-election. Nevertheless, she should re-evaluate her goals and think about whether she still represents what she once believed in – the Ideals of honesty, integrity and democracy.

The Emperor had just returned from his trip and it was a fruitful trip indeed, the Triumvirate had been formed, the first steps in taking over the Galaxy were made. Everything was going as he had foreseen. Other things had to be done first, before the next move was made.Things like destabilizing and weakening the Imperial Remnant. He had seen a great opportunity in the world of Ryloth, a world besieged by slavers and pirates. It was the Emperors decision that he would assists the slavers by providing resources and other things. But the main destabilizing operation on the planet would be executed by Imperial Hands, specially trained infiltrators that would sow chaos and mayhem across the planet.

These operatives would infiltrate the planet with the assistance of the slavers, once there they would begin their mission of chaos and destruction. They would do anything that was necessary to destabilize the planet and weaken the Imperial Remnant. Making the planet less valuable and a drain on resources.

Lord Terest entered the Emperors inner sanctum and bowed.

"I hope your trip has been successful, Master."

"It was. The Triumvirate is formed. Has our Interdictor cruiser returned from it's mission?"

"Not yet, master. But we are expecting them soon."

"Nevermind, we have more pressing matters to contend with."

"What is your will master?"

"I have a target for your lackeys. The world of Ryloth must be destabilized.", The Emperor said and handed Terest a datapad containing the exact orders that were to be executed, "Deploy the Black Hand to that wretched world."

The Black Hand were the Emperors most skilled spies and infiltrators, they served the purpose of destabilizing enemy worlds and sowing chaos, weakening them for conquest. The best and perhaps most feared aspect of the Black Hand was that they were never caught alive, they lived only to serve the Emperor and died in his name. Whenever they were in a situation where their capture was inevitable, they would commit suicide - either through deadly pills or through more explosive means.

"As you wish, my master - so shall it be done.", Terest smiled, "Am I to take it that the time has come?"

"Not yet my apprentice, we are not ready.", The Emperor said, "These are merely the preliminary operations with which we shall determine our enemies strengths and weaknesses, but most importantly - their resolve."

System 5-32Dekka-9
VSDII Pride of Bakura
1 day later

“Admiral, all ships have completed the jump.” Thanas nodded. “Very well, commence calculations for the next jump. Status of the freighters?” Ossilege looked at his status board. “Freighter Alpha-3 is reporting some engine trouble, but otherwise the status is green.”

At the freighters beeing only an inch away from the scrapyard, such situations were to be expected. “Very well, prepare jump as soon as Alpha-3 is ready.”

“Sir. Hyperspace bow waves, incoming.” “Battle stations. Status of Alpha-3?” “Still reporting engine trouble. Sir, we may have to leave them behind.” “And render this whole exercise useless? No. Launch fighters. Tighten formation. Helm, turn us around into the direction of the bow waves.”

As TIEs swarmed from the ships, VADM Thanas took stock of the situation. The Vindicator and Carrack class cruisers had arranged themselves around his two Victory-II class star destroyers, with the four corvettes keeping a close screen around the freighters and serving as reserve. With a total fighter complement of 10 squadrons as well as an additional 16 TIE recon fighters carried by the cruisers, his fleet should be able to stand up to any pirate attack. What was even more heartening was the fact that his fleet was pure Bakuran - men and women he had trained personally – and he knew their capabilites.

“Keep our fighters close. I want to be ready to jump as soon as possible.”

The warning signal sounded, showing that whoever it was had arrived.

Although being a ragtag fleet, the pirates fleet moved in a highly competent manner. First to arrive were 3 old Tartan cruisers. 600m in length, the empire had retired these ships long ago – for all their length they were hugely inefficient for their intended picket and anti-fighter duty. Sure, they boosted powerful engines and shields, but only a mere 20 light turbolasers with a combined firepower of an Assassin class. Impressive only for their size, the higher personal and fuel costs had relegated these ships to the scrapyard quite soon, however they had become a favorite among pirates. These particular ships were crewed by the Blackstar pirates, a gang that had cast its lot in with Tavira.

Following were two Nebulon-B frigates, the ships of Shala the Hutt's gang. These were more serious opponents, as evidenced by the four squadrons of pirate fighters spewing from their hangar bays. But the heavyweights were still to come.

In perfect unison, the Assault frigate Fastblast crewed by the Fastblasters and a Dreadnought cruiser, crewed by the Riistar's raiders jumped in next. These two ships were notorious among Imperial forces for neither asking nor giving quarter. With powerful turbolasers, both were a match for any Imperial cruiser, the situation being more complicated for the Imperials by the single squadron of Bombers being launched from the Dreadnoughts hangars.

And finally, the head of the enemy revealed itself in the state of an Imperial II class Star Destroyer bearing the callsign of Invidious. No speeches asking for surrender were made by either side, instead the pirates made a smartly-executed turn and headed for the Imperial fleet.

The pirates are unusually well-led, Thanas observed. This must be Tavira's gang. Her ships stayed close to each other, maximizing their counterbattery and shield coverage. And this was a prudent approach to take – with all the fighters swarming out of their ships, the pirates enjoyed fighter parity with the Imperials having better counterbattery coverage due to the carracks. But this advantage was more than nullified by the ISD-II. Thanas had no illusions – his three vindicators would be more than busy attacking the Assault Frigate and the Dreadnought, which left his two VSDs to deal with Tavira herself. Not very satisfying odds.

“Pull back our TIE-Bombers towards our rear. I want them lined for a concentrated strike against the Invidious, attack to proceed on my command. Batteries, 60-40 ratio on long range strikes, 30-70 on close approach. Execute.”

These orders amounted to a 60-40 battery/counterbattery split then switched to a 30-70 ratio when it came to close-quarter fighting. A cautious ratio, used normally to gauge the enemies strength, hoping for a lucky hit on long-ranges and using maximum safety at close ranges, when even a single HTL hit could have fatal consequences. “Carrack cruisers, concentrate on enemy fighters. All fighters, try to punch a hole in their fighter screen. Bombers to follow through.”

Seconds later, the first HTL bolt arched from the Pride of Bakura towards the Invidious, being intercepted and destroyed by a counterbattery bolt from the Fastblast. And soon after that, the space between the two fleets lit up with green, red and blue bolts, while fighters soon started to weave their deadly dance of death.

“Signal the freighters to withdraw as soon as possible. I don't want them to get hit”.

“Hyperspace bow wave.” the signal ensign called out. And sure enough, sensors soon showed a wedge-shaped form on the edge of the battle. “Identification...Sir, Interdictor cruiser, Immobilizer class. No ID.”

No ID could only mean two things – one, the ship preferred to keep their identity to themselves and two, it was certainly not there to help them. A suspicion that was proven to be true as the ship brought their gravity generators online, trapping the Imperial fleet.

The Shadow Empire Interdictor cruiser "Sakriven" had succeeded in it's task. It trapped the Imperial fleet and left them at the mercy of the pirates. Captain Mil Gastan did not like pirates and the very idea of working with them, made him sick to the stomach. But the Emperor's will had to be obeyed and if that meant assisting pirates, then that is what he would do. He had to admit to himself though, these were the most capable pirates he had ever encountered personally. It seemed the mission would be a success. Emperor Shady would be pleased.

And things went from bad to worse for the Remnant when thanks to the gravity fields, the second half of Tavira's fleet dropped out of hyperspace behind the Imperial fleet.

Led by the Corellian Gunship Lazerlord and the CR-90 corvette Backstab, Tavira's force had come up right on top of the freighters, corvettes and the TIE-Bomber massed for a strike. Caught by surprise and being slow as well as sluggy by starfighter standards, the 24 TIE-Bombers were easy prey for the guns and concussion missiles of the two ships. Within a few seconds, the TIE-Bomber force had been annihilated.
Then, the Strike Cruiser Red Nova and the Bulk crusier Booty Full added their firepower to the battle, leaving the 12 TIE-clutches flown by the Khulumin survivors to concentrate on the freighters. They were soon joined by the corvettes.

The first Imperial ships to feel the wrath of the pirates were the Assassin-class corvettes assigned with protecting the freighters. The lead ship was caught by three HTLs that burned through its shield and caused its reactor to go nova. The second ship was the target of a torpedo strike by the TIE clutches, but while it managed to destroy all 24 torpedoes headed for it, it had to shift its shields to survive the explosions of them. Thereby it exposed its bellies to the Backstab, whose's gunners took the opportunity to slice the Imperial ship into dozens of seperate sections. The other two corvettes quickly used their superior speed to evade and survive, but this meant that they were effectively out of combat for a few minutes at least.

Meanwhile, the Strike and the Builk cruiser had disgorged assault transports after bombarding the freighters with ion cannons. Those transports quickly headed for the freighters, intending to capture them.

On the bridge of the Pride of Bakura, the mood had turned into quiet resignation. The enemy plan was now clear – with the Invidious and her group acting as the anvil, the Strike and the Bulk cruiser were to be the hammer. Well, not if I have any say in the matter. “Switch batteries to 20/80 ratio. Carrack cruisers, engage the new arrivals.”

But it soon became clear that Tavira had anticipated that move. Immediately, the Invidious switched her batteries from counterfire to all-out assault. The Turbolaser fire tore into the four Carrack Cruisers who had been in the process of turning when the HTL and MTL bolts impacted on their shields. Two were destroyed immediately, whereas Thanas old flagship, the Carrack Cruiser Dominant, had its shield blasted away by an HTL salvo and the engine section melted by an MTL hit. Out of combat, it drifted away from the battle, momentum saving it. The remaining carrack cruisers was now engaged by the Red Nova and the Booty Full, which turned the counterattack into a desperate fight for survival as the Carrack Captain used every ounce of his skill and the durability of his ship to stay alive.

Worse for the Imperial fleet however was the loss of counterbattery fire. With no fighter force gaining a clear advantage, the pirate Tartan cruisers and Nebulon Bs were able to concentrate their LTLs against the Imperial fire. Which left the Fastblast, the Invidious and the Dreadnought to concentrate their full offensie potential on the Imperial ships which had to switch even more batteries to counterbattery fire.

Soon the inevitable happened – a salvo from the Fastblast could not be intercepted anymore and impacted on the shields of the Vindicator class cruiser Heart of Bakura. It was followed up by five HTL blasts from the Invidious which converged on the reactor cone. The resulting explosion was brighter than the sun and when the flash subsided, single atoms were all that was left of the once-proud ship and her crew of 3000.

On the bridge of the Pride of Bakura, Thanas grimly looked at his flag captain as the bridge shook under the impacts of the enemy fire. Captain Ossilege was already busy coordinating damage control.

“Ensign Spiro, the time?” Despite this being his first cruise, the signal ensign's voice did not waver. “Ten minutes since the last jump was completed, Sir.”

This ends now.

And end it did as one massive wedge-shaped vessel dropped out of hyperspace.

A casual observer looking at the display might have noted the lack of a hangar. A casual observer with access to the ship's schematics might have noted the lack of troop space and the extra space devoted to shielding and weaponry. But for an expert in ship-to-ship combat, this ship meant one thing – game over. For this was none other than the HIMS Delenda est, one of the half-dozen Tector-class star destroyers in Remnant service.

If the pirates would have had enough time to prepare for the new arrival, they might have been able to pull of a coordinated fighter attack. They might even have had tried to escape. But they didn't have nearly enough time, for even as the ship was transitioning to real space, its turbolasers started discharging well-calculated and even better-targeted salvos in green rippling fire from the turrets.

The Alpha strike of the Delenda est was devestating to the pirate formation around the Invidious. Even their overlapping shields couldn't protect them from the salvos of a Tector and the fire from the Bakuran ships simultaneously. The first “beneficiary”, as the crew of the Delenda Est had come to call their victims, was the old Dreadnought. The Alpha strike blasted the shields away as if they were nothing and melted the veteran of many battles into one huge lump of scrap metal. The next to experience the Imperial fury was one of Shalla's Nebulon-B frigate, which had its spine broken. The two parts drifted away from each other, each devoid of any life.

By now, the Bakuran fleet had switched to an offensive battery ratio and had proceeded to attack. The three Tartan cruisers were the first target – two were destroyed in a matter of split seconds, with the third being disabled by ion bolts.

The Delenda Est had now turned its attention to the Fastblast. While an Assault Frigate could even stand up to an ISD on an extremely good day for a while, it was hopelessly outclassed against a Tector, as the Fastblast found out when the MTL batteries stripped the shields and ion batteries then caused blue lights to arc all over the ship.

Ignoring return fire from the Invidious, the Tector instead closed the distance to point-blank range and disabled the remaining Neb-B frigate before launching a set of anti-ship torpedoes at the Invidious. Brushing by the renegade star destroyer, the Tector raced towards the interdictor cruiser.

To his credit, the unknown captain reacted fast. Almost immdiately after the Tector had appeared, the gravity generators had been shut off and now the Interdictor evaded the first HTL shots by increasing velocity. By the time the second volley impacted on the shields, the ship was ready to jump and just before the shields would suffer overload, the cruiser leisurely jumped to hyperspace.

On the bridge of the Invidious, Tavira was screaming at the engine room to make her ship go faster as well as at her gunners to shoot the incoming torpedoes down. However, this proved to be of little use as two torpedoes breached the shields and then impacted against the bridge structure. Amazingly, she soon discovered by a trickle down her pants that she was still alive. The torpedoes had malfunctioned, she concluded. A split-second later, the Invidious jumped to hyperspace, with the rest of the pirate fleet following behind, leaving their non-jump capable fighters behind to face certain annihilation.

The pirate boarders which had attempted to capture the freighters had succeeded. To their surprise, they soon found that the ships had carried nothing of value – except for the explosives placed in the cargo holds. One second after they had established control over the ships, the freighters had turned into expanding fireballs.

The battle of 5-32Dekka-9 was over.

****************
Results:
Remnant lost two Assassin class corvettes, 2 Carrack cruisers, another heavily damaged, 1 Vindicator class cruiser, about 8-9 squadrons of fighters (of 10).
Pirates lost: 3 Tartan class cruisers (1 captured), one dreadnought, 2 Neb-B frigates (1 captured), 1 Assault Frigate (captured). About their entire fighter complement.

Result of Battle: Remnant Pyrrhic victory.

OOC: The above-posted chapter was approved by the mods, as Tavira is an NPC faction character.

Balmorra, Commodore's Quarters
The alarm was going off.
But the dream held her still. Whispering in her mind of the clash of titans in crimson light. Blood flowed to cover the nightmarish landscape. The low chanting of the Titans as they mounted thrones made of old black bones.

The surrealism of the dream was bad enough, but the worst part of this dream was that this had been repeating for the last weak without respite. There hadn't been any recent experience that should have caused this wave of nightmares. The fatigue of the diplomatic efforts had worn away already.

She was finally sure that the dream was over and that she had no reason to not get up. Of coarse the first thought that came through her sleep deprived mind was the need for Caf. Another part of her mind told her to hit the light switch before she hurt herself. the most instinctual part of her mind reacted and the lights came on, despite the dozen feet between her and the switch itself. The recaf machine was standing ready with it's sweet supply. As she started it to life one of the mugs in the cupboard above drifted down and landed precisely in her hand.

Filling it she sat on the stool and savored the caf as she thought hard onhow to get through the day and deal with the dream. First day she had gone down to the range to deal with the uncomfortable dream by distracting herself in the strict enviroment of live fire. The range was to easy though and the red of the blaster bolts on the range actually made the dream worse. The next day she had gone down for an extensive and tiring HtH training drill, but exhaustion proved no match for the nightmares. The third day she tried to ignore it and make it go away that way, and on the fourth she had tired to clear so much paper work that she couldn't think afterword. Finally she had resorted to using her cache of combat sleep supplements to lessen the dreams hold on her.

But last night had been as bad as any that had come before. She was now really desperate for a solution to her nightmares. Desperate enough to schedule an appointment with the Corps shrink after the Naval briefing.

-----Later in the day-----
Intelligence Chief Raelene Halstein was presiding over the pack of Flag officers in the room. This was the annual operation assignment conference for Commodores and Rear admirals. The conference was one of the most unproductive hold overs of the old mercenary days when individual captains could choose their own deployments. It evolved to give commanders deployments that would not be out of their comfort zones. Alicia was giving out ground troop deployment recommendations in her role as the naval Liaison.

She was going to apply for a long deployment position in convoy defense. There was going to be a force heading into Hutt space to deal with the starfighter part suppliers that the TSAB had to deal with to maintain their Starviper force. Two other deployments were going to focus as a anti piracy force. The last one was a harassment and raiding group that looked to be a lesser deterrent force outside of the battle line. Mostly the forces available were going to be the 4-7 corvettes and 1-3 Cruiser sized combatants. Each formation was going to have alternate leaders and that was where the fights for command were actually going to get nasty and 'political'.

<even later>
The Corps shrink had turned out to have been a former Imperial expert from the Mid Childan branch that had transferred when the writ of protection was signed. Alicia had to undergo some sort of esoteric exam. It was late and the doc was in the office shuffling papers while waiting for the machines to finish the data crunching. The test had been excruciatingly slow and wandering with flash cards and brain scans.

The Doc finally made her way out of the office. The news was either grim or simply uncomfortable for the doctor. It showed in the face, any who have had to watch a subordinate bring them bad news on the battlefield would have reason to recognized it. It was not the news that Alicia consciously expected. "Madame your condition is perfectly fine, but it does need your attention. The tests are basically conclusive, you have a veritable sensitivity to the force. Yes as in jedi. However I do not have any reason to think that your dreams are necessarily caused by the sensitivity or are just a stress reaction to the under controlled power that pertains. I have found some old texts that my help in your situation, and I have cleared Corps Hq's hyperwave transimitter if you wish to talk to your adoptive family."
"I do not think I can tonight. I... want to read some about all of this first before I can." This really can't help me to sleep tonight, dammit!

OOC my initial response to the sith-heads force fun.
And for further reference the texts she was handed were excerpts from:
  • Lectures on the Nature of the Force
  • Book of Practical Lightsaber Technique
  • The Book of Anger
And now sleep.

Proving Grounds, Korriban

The soldiers were lined up in picture perfect formation on the proving grounds, silver armour reflecting the dull orange light cast down by Korriban’s ancient husk of a sun. Jared Veicht swept his gaze across them approvingly. The basic shapes of these armours had been designed millennia ago during the Dark Wars by Revan’s original Sith Empire, and now they were back, resurrected from ancient repositories of knowledge and improved with modern materials engineering.

“Soldiers of the Sith Empire, today your training is finished and your duty begins” he began. The faceless black visors betrayed nothing of the trooper’s emotions, but Veicht could feel their excitement through the Force. He knew that in him they saw what they all aspired to be: a full-fledged Assassin, a member of the small elite trained by the dark lord himself. And perhaps some of them would, in time. Certainly they had proven themselves exceptionally ruthless over the course of their training. But they still had a long way to go until they could wear his coveted crimson armour.

“Your lord and master has seen fit to give you a first mission” he continued to address the troopers. “You will go to Telos IV and secure the remains of an ancient academy our lord believes is hidden at one of that planet's poles. Your lord feels this is a mission of great importance, and therefore I will personally lead you there. You are Sith Commandos, and you will not fail your master.”

The first of the re-established Sith Commandos were about to get their baptism of fire.

Result: 40 Sith Commandos depart for Telos IV. They will be carried there by 4 Sith Infiltrators.

(Sith Commandos are Sith Assassins lite: force sensitives trained in stealth combat. They carry stealth field generators and light-bending armors and have a limited ability to further shroud themselves using the Force, but they aren't full-fledged force users like Assassins such as Veicht are.)

System 5-32Dekka-9
VSDII Pride of Bakura
12 hours later

It had been a pretty heavy 12 hours since the engagement with the pirates, Thanas noted. While the crew of Shalla the Hutt's remaining Nebulon-B frigate and the crew of the Tartan “cruiser” had surrendered for the promise of a fair trial and leniency, the crew of the Fastblast had fought to the bitter ends. As pirate Veterans, they knew that the very least they would receive were sentences to hard labor – and considering they had just helped in vaping an Imperial cruiser, they preferred to take their chances with the Bakuran marines. Not that their resolve mattered much in the end – it only had added more names to the casualty list.

And a long casualty list it had been. The Heart of Bakura alone had been crewed by 2951 men and women. Counting starfighter pilots and Marines, the Bakuran Navy had lost 7452 men, as well as 5 ships – hard losses for a Navy that only had 24 ships to start with. If the Dominant was deemed to be beyond repair, that would mean the Bakuran Navy had just lost a quarter of their strength.

“Admiral, the prize crews report all systems operational and the Delenda est has taken the Dominant in tow. We are ready for our next jump.”

Thanas nodded. The fleet would return to Axum in order for repairs and debriefing. “Very well. When we have completed the jump, I'd like a holonet conersation with my wife as soon as possible.”

Something he never liked had to follow that – notification of the families and press interviews. Gaeriel would handle it, but he wanted to help as much as possible. Though he couldn't say he looked particularly forward to it.

Yet not all was grim. The plan formulated by Marshal Jir and himself had worked – the Pirate forces had swallowed the bait. There was a good chance the Dominant would be repairable. And the end result was worth it – it had to be.

Ryloth
The four Imperial-II class Star Destroyers jumped out of hyperspace, scattering all traffic before them while coming to a stop just outside Ryloth's atmosphere. Soon, shuttles, transports and cargo haulers were swarming from and to the ships. The plan had called for them to leave on an extended training mission. Of course, that had been nothing but a cover for their real mission – don't mind the engines, get to Ryloth as quick as possible and blast everything that stands in your way.

Thankfully, the last part had not been necessary – the pirates had all either swallowed the bait or had wisely decided not to attack the fleet, while the cargo ships knew better than to not clear the traffic lanes for someone broadcasting a priority directive.

A few hours later, the offloading of the shield network parts was complete and the ISDs turned around and raced back to Axum.

Axum System
Allegiance-class command ship Loyalty

“Marshal Jir, Sir, the trackers report Tavira has settled down in a previously unknown star system.”
Dane Jir nodded at the sensor officer. “Thank you, commander.” So the Delenda Est has succeeded. What the pirates took for anti-ship torpedoes were indeed anti-ship torpedoes – if only from the outside. Their warheads had been removed and replaced with containers carrying hundreds of tracking devices. Those devices had been designed to only send one signal only and then flare out – to show when the ship they had been attached to switched of its engines. One signal was liable to get lost in the standard emissions. And now it looked like that happened. Time to go pirate-hunting.

“Communications. Signal the Eviscerator, the Majestic and the Constrainer to form up behind us and prepare for hyperspace jump. Signal the Sentinel to take up the patrol space of the Constrainer.”

Depriving the Core fleet of two elite Star Destroyers and their best interdictor cruiser in addition to its flagship was not something Jir normally liked – especially with one Tector and four other ISD-IIs on detached service as well – but it would have to happen. Better to destroy Tavira now instead of letting her escape.

“Execute Jump on my mark. Mark.”

As the massive ship hurtled through hyperspace, Jir once more thought about the unknown interdictor who had escaped destruction at the battle. Someone out there wants to hurt us. Sith? Rebels? Whoever it is, we have to send a strong message soon.

OOC results:
- Thanas et al clean up and go back to Axum
- Jir on his way to Tavira's base
- Planetary shield network parts delivered to Ryloth. Assembly will take some time.

FROM: His Imperial Manticoran Majesty James I
TO: Their Excellencies the Councilors of the Imperial Remnant

Your Excellencies,

It has come to Our attention that elements of the Remnant Navy have engaged and defeated a pirate force of unusual strength, and that the reinforcement of these elements has left something of a hole in the Remnant Home Fleet. We offer to supply a Venator-class carrier and two Victory-class Star Destroyers to reinforce Remnant patrol nets and prevent pirate attacks that may be incited by perceived weakness.

"Lord Terest please forgive my failure. We did all we could, but the Imperial Remnant managed to..."

"It is of no importance Captain, the Emperor is pleased with your performance. Your new orders have been transmitted. Yo are to proceed to Metellos, immediately! The Emperor has a new task for you."

"Yes, my Lord."

Coronet City, Corellia

As Ambassador Vash Ths’ede sat down to meet with a representative of the Corellian Empire he found that he was much less upset than he could have been. It may have been that he was almost assured success, they had worked out a rough sketch over the newly reactivated Holonet, now all that was left was agreeing to the details. He chose to let the Corellian make the first move.

Conference Room, Combined Clans Building, Bothawui

Voice I: “It would appear that the Confederacy has staying power.”

Voice II: “I still have my doubts as to working with these… aliens will help us.”

Voice III: “That is an understatement; our opponents are among those the Confederacy contacts and offer to work with”

Voice: II: “Yes, they stray from the ideals of the Clans”

Voice IV: “They transcend our simple ideals, they operate with deftness and secrecy without our support. We shall go the way of the Spynet, and support our compatriots in supporting their actions. And we shall bring Bothan Space to unity.”

Voice II: “But what of..”

Voice IV: “We. Shall. Go. The. Way. Of. The. Spynet.”

Voice III: “Of course, Clan Alya. We shall do what we can”

Results: The IC Negotiations over the Shinra-Vinish Trade Pact (With RogueIce) begin, and the discussions of a nice shadowy council to exist in the background.
This is an empty country and I am it's king, and I should not be allowed to touch anything.
