Halleluah. That's the most annoying thing about OotS and Erfworld. They're great comics but it takes them forever to update. (Has anyone ever released what Rich's problems are?)

You've gotta keep in mind that he's kinda in a hurry to get resurrected here. He's been dead for awhile, and doesn't want to accidentally make the Order think he's refusing to be raised. Not really complete justification for blowing off the attempted warning, I'll admit.

Of course, the Celestial or whatever could have said that the Wizard had taken a rather disturbing turn toward evil, rather than the vague statement that was made. Roy has good reason to assume that Belkar's done something particularly horrific in his absence. No reason to think anyone else has been doing stuff that'll ding their karma meter enough to warrant being told "Hey, you should be aware of this..."

Also based on Roy's dialogue with Roy's Archon he has some additional plans in motion for what to do once he has been raised. He probably considers nothing as important as whatever it is he is setting in motion. But still, arghh! Roy, learn to listen!

As far as I know, no one has ever stated anything about Rich's health problems and he himself has stated that he doesn't want that information to be public knowledge.

The only thing that's been said publicly regarding Rich's health problems is that they are non-life threatening and well in hand, so donations are unneeded and there's no cause for concern. He's stated that they occasionally keep him bedridden for a week or so, but otherwise aren't an issue.


A guess would be that it's chronic pain of some sort. But that's just a guess.


Poor Belkar. Having to get that particular view? If the Mark of Justice hadn't made things even for all he'd done, I'm sure that sight just did even it all out.

That would fit the bill nicely for his update behaviour. You can't draw laying down, and sometimes, even sitting with an ice or heat pack on is not enough to make you comfortable.

Firstly if your plot twists are that easy to get you suck and should never be allowed to GM.

Secondly people have fun guessing plot twists in every other kind of fiction, so there is no reason why they shouldn't try to do this in RPGs. If you aren't a pathetic control freak who must have everything unfold as they intended you will either employ your poker face and then let whichever player have the satisfaction of being proven right, and/or you will improvise something that maintains the challenge.

For the love of Gygax, I was speaking in jest. In the particular case I was thinking of, the plot twist was actually decided by a die roll (wich I made in secret) that determined who the players would have to assasinate in a sort of reverse-cluedo scene. The roll actually pointed to the guy hiring them, meaning he hired them to kill himself, wich I thought was a nice twist. And then one of the players guessed it just as I was about to reveal it, completely neutering the revelation

I still carried on with it and adapted the result of the session to make it a major thread in the campaign, where the guy who hired and got killed had set up pre-recorded messages giving them instructions (sort of like Hari Seldon).

But yes, at the time when he guessed the plot twist, I would have beaten him over the head with a half-frozen salami. And then eaten his corpse.

And when I want to be mean with the players, I just whip out the Giant Robot of DOOM and make them run for it.

Pshaw, running from a mere Giant Robot of DOOM is a sign of insufficient quasi-combat creativity. By level 7 (3.5) you should have all the tools you need to deal with any giant robot for which mere running can prevent death.

QUASI-combat, man, not head-on! And I did say 3.5, obviously implying DnD in the thread about the comic set in a 3.5 DnD world. I'm not familiar with the Star Wars game mechanics, but I'd suggest hacking the autopilot to crash a stolen cargo ship into it while the party distracts it during a defensive retreat, or luring it into some other similarly absurd (awesome) trap.

I would have expected him to ask "Hey why is V paralysed?" and the story to come out. The order don't know much but they know enough that he really should get suspicious.

One flaw in this idea is that he just said that all his memories of the afterlife have blurred into just a warm feeling. Though he does subconsciously want to try out the feat he learned, so maybe he'll instinctively be looking out for evil in the party.

Roy's memory is only cloudy from when he was INSIDE heaven, as I read it. He was spying on the earth outside the gates, though, so he should remember some of it.

The last time they were there the Oracle said Belkar would die with in one year. (One in comic year) I'm assuming its now 45 weeks later. Meaning Belkar's going to die within the next seven weeks.

Though I guess if we've learned anything from this update, it's that death is anything but permanent in OOTS, and in fact provides some significant character development. It makes me think of the Ghostwalk expansion books (I think that was the name), where you could die and then adventure as a ghost- even earning levels.

He's got to have put two and two together and understand that V has made some questionable moral choices. Maybe he's just feigning ignorance so that he can justify himself in heaven or take the fiends by suprise?

Remember, Roy tends to get tunnel vision. If it's not part of his master plan, he's likely to trivialize it. In other words he may have used wisdom as a dump stat.

If one wanted to be slightly more charitable, it's possible to try to justify it as disregarding inconsequential details in favor of the whole saving the world bit.

For the seven weeks, I'm really not sure what to think. He might have figured out the length of time needed to optimally level grind up to mid-epic status by going through Kraagor's tomb filled with all the "nastiest monsters in the world" for all we know.
