Ted, this may sound strange coming from me, but you've got to learn to be more sensitive. Some of your behaviour lately has crossed the line. I don't want to get into details, I'm sure everyone who knows what I'm talking will need no furher explanation.

A lot of people are very unhappy with you, and it's not as if they were predisposed against you; it was your recent conduct that has people up in arms, not any prior poisoning of the well.

If there's something going on in your personal life that's making you act like this, let us know. But right now, it looks like you're just being mean to people who don't deserve it.

I fully realise that people are unhappy, hell some probably hate me now.

I really dont care though, opinions of people who are just lines of text on a screen have no actual effect on me.

Fine I'm a cold hearted bastard, I know that, and I know I started the Biggest Flame War ever on SD.net.

Partly the problem for me is that I had tried to be sensitive, but that really isn't me. The facade was basically crumbling, and political nonsense and propoganda destroyed it completely.

I've apologized to Zaia, hours ago.

Maybe those people dont deserve my being mean to them, but then again, maybe they do.

As far as I know, nothing lately has effected me enough, except maybe the bull shit spewed by W. B.

Then again, it could just be depression acting up again.

I am an insensitive bastard, that doesn't affect me in any way. I had tried to be sensitive before, but a facade will only last for so long, I guess it finally fell.

Do what you want with me, I don't really care.

You sound like you need professional help, Ted. Seriously. If you can't manage sensitivity to other human beings except as a "facade", that is deeply troubling.

If I were to be brutally honest with my opinion, I would not last a few posts here before being banned, so I hve to use a facade to survive, in a sense.

Ted whenever you have problems with be sensitive just remember, when in doubt, just shut up. No one is forcing you to post. Whether you feel it or not I'm sure you can tell when it will affect someone else.

Personally, I had it up to my neck back when pezcollector and Pounder's sister took it upon themselves to be racists assholes towards the French. What with my wife being a tad unsetled because there are anonymous people out there who suggest that it would be good to have her killed for being French. Sensitivity, not to mention human decency, is falling into short supply around here of late.

So what do we do?

On the one hand, with have the ability of free speech at stake which otherwise differentiates us from other webboards. And on the other we have the fact that some people, no matter how much it hurts people and how many times they are warned, will voice their opinions even if they are derogatory and even racist or homophobic etc.

Do we moderate with extreme prejudice and outlaw such comments or do we ban or take action against the persons who cause such a ruckus?

There is a difference between moderating your own behavior and putting on a facade. I heavily moderate my posts on the net (here and on ASVS) simply because I know my acerbic nature and low tolerance for idiots would upset a lot of people and that achieves nothing. It is not however a facade, I still tell people what's on my mind, I just tone it down and make the effort to understand that other people have feelings and trampling them does nothing constructive.
Posting flamebait and making deliberately hurtful remarks isn't "dropping a facade" it's a failure to moderate your behavior when dealing with others.

A facade on the other hand would be a lie and a deception. That's something completely different, that would be to say and act one way, whilst being and thinking something else. A facade would be a fascist posting as a liberal, a bigot posting as an understanding person, a man posting as a woman, a gay person posting as a straight person, a young creationist posting as a scientist.

Posting something to hurt others with no real reason is being an arsehole and that's all. If you're really an arsehole (which I doubt from our PM's) who's been pretending to be a reasonable person. Then you've dropped a fascade.

If however you have a problem and posted something you later regret (hence the apology) then it was a failure to moderate yourself, and is something you need to work on with whomever is giving you professional help. If in doubt in the future, think hard before you post something, as you are not helping yourself by hurting others.

I have to agree with Rob, Ted. You seem to purposely phrase thing to achieve the maxinum amoung to pain, suffering, and flamebait. There is a difference in calling someone (for an example) a fuckhead and and fuckhead, asshole, jerk that does not need to be populating this Earth with me and my obviously superior friends.

You go too far, and sometime I believe, you go to far on purpose. It amazes me that various people were concered for your dumb ass when we thought you might be dead or dying but can you return such compassion? No, you just want to take potshots at people who you see you can take potshots at. When Hyperion started getting on you and your rat, you ran too your friends and compatriots on the board and they jumped on Hyperion for fucking with you. What in the hell made you think that this would not happen to you when you started to fuck with Zaia.
