Well it obviously got knocked backwards during the firing and, at a minimum, did a pretty thorough number on the crust. The planet just seems to disappear though, which could mean any number of things.
Give fire to a man, and he will be warm for a day.
Set him on fire, and he will be warm for life.

WCnews did host a useful vid clip that does feature a firing of the Behemoth and blowingup the planet. here is the link to the actual clip
*snork* LMAO... Oh man, thanks for the WC3 music video. That absolutely made my day. Don't get me wrong, those games were awesome, but I don't think I've ever seen anything so cheesy and unhip.

I invite other people to watch it. You see the beam against the planet at around 1:14, and it seems like, in typical sci fi fashion, the planet is assumed to blow up like a bomb. No doubt the planet had massive planetary shield networks protecting it from the massive beam. And the Behemoth really masses as much as a planet and has ultradense fuel tanks and/or a hyperspatial energy tap or some osrt of magical recoil damping properties or some other nonsense.

I can't wait to see how that gets used as "proof" of heavy firepower.
Ahh, but Connor you're forgetting something very important: the planet which is getting torched in that video (Loki VI) is orbiting a Quasar according to Tolwyn. Which means that not only can the Behemoth survive being near a stellar object with 2 trillions times the luminosity of the Sun, but it managed to blow up a planet that was doing to same. Clearly the Behemoth is like nothing we've ever seen...

Seriously though, there is suspension of disbelief...and then there is Wing Commander. I loved these games in their day, but the science in them is so ridiculous that I can't fathom how you would do meaningful analysis of it.

The Temblor Bomb ... because Kilrah is tectonically unstable!!!

No science was harmed in the making of this game, trained professionals oversaw ever aspect of filming to ensure not even a single law of physics was mistreated.
So I stare wistfully at the Lightning for a couple of minutes. Two missiles, sharply raked razor-thin wings, a huge, pregnant belly full of fuel, and the two screamingly powerful engines that once rammed it from a cold start to a thousand miles per hour in under a minute. Life would be so much easier if our adverseries could be dealt with by supersonic death on wings - but alas, Human resources aren't so easily defeated.

Imperial Battleship, halt the flow of time!

Didn't you know? Most planets are bombs waiting to go off, they just need a tiny little nudge to go kablooey. That's how the DS1 killed Alderaan afterall.
Oh wait, that's hogwash. My bad.

WC was a grand computer game franchise, and the novels were if not brilliant at least entertaining. Yes, most of the science made no sense, but it was never INTENDED to. It was supposed to be FUN, and it was. Dragging a franchise that was never meant to nor claimed to be scientifically accurate into a VS is doing it a disservice.
'Next time I let Superman take charge, just hit me. Real hard.'
'You're a princess from a society of immortal warriors. I'm a rich kid with issues. Lots of issues.'
'No. No dating for the Batman. It might cut into your brooding time.'
'Tactically we have multiple objectives. So we need to split into teams.'-'Dibs on the Amazon!'
'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'
'You know, for a guy with like 50 different kinds of vision, you sure are blind.'

Dude I love the WC franchise, had a shit ton of fun blowing the crap out of the bad guys, doesn't mean I can't take the piss out of how bad the science was :D shortly before blowing it up.
