It looks like Sci Fi (or SyFy or whatever it is that it's called these days) is going to remake Alien Nation.
I wonder if the Newcomers are still going to be Tenctonese, or if they're going to change the species so they can come up with their own biology and culture to use on the show.
Reading between the lines, it looks like they want to remake this because being basically Earth bound and a modern day setting they can save on the cost of special effects, so that probably means they're going to be actors in basic rubber heads playing the Newcomers, so there's a limit to how alien they can make them look, I guess.

Re: "Alien Nation" remake in the works
If they did as good a job with a remake as was done with Battlestar Galactica I'll be happy.
As it is, I have all the Alien Nation novelizations. Would like to get the TV series on DVD, but it's not in the budget >sigh<

Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. Re: "Alien Nation" remake in the works
As someone who thoroughly enjoyed what he saw of 'Alien Nation' I'm tentatively looking forward to this.
'Next time I let Superman take charge, just hit me. Real hard.'
'You're a princess from a society of immortal warriors. I'm a rich kid with issues. Lots of issues.'
'No. No dating for the Batman. It might cut into your brooding time.'
'Tactically we have multiple objectives. So we need to split into teams.'-'Dibs on the Amazon!'
'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'
'You know, for a guy with like 50 different kinds of vision, you sure are blind.'

Interesting, so they're picking up the AN universe twenty years later. I loved the show and movies, I'll be looking forward to this.

They're actually doing a remake rather than a continuation, but opening the show at twenty years after colonization, rather than immediately afterward like in the original series.CaptainChewbacca wrote:Interesting, so they're picking up the AN universe twenty years later.
It sounds interesting and I'd hope it'll be good, but SciFi's track record with adaptations and remakes leaves me apprehensive.

It sounds to me like its kinda both, though they may just disregard the telemovies and/or whatever else. Maybe there'll be a State Attorney General Sikes, or some other easter-eggs like that.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:They're actually doing a remake rather than a continuation, but opening the show at twenty years after colonization, rather than immediately afterward like in the original series.CaptainChewbacca wrote:Interesting, so they're picking up the AN universe twenty years later.

The movie was entertaining and fun, but the TV series sucked bigtime.
And what is the deal, with the Sci Fi channel "rebranding" themselves as "SyFy" ????

Re: "Alien Nation" remake in the works
The series had its ups and downs and I consider myself a fan. I wouldn't mind seeing a remake. I'd love to see cameos by Gary Graham and other cast members from the original series.
