Inasmuch as the Americans wouldn't have been willing to work with Italy because they weren't "reigning in" the Nazis, even if they didn't do much themselves.

I'm not going to say that the Old Dominion or Tian Xia are Nazi, of course, but an analogy doesn't have to be perfect to get the point across.
You say this in the same post where you ignored the question of me asking you what you want us to apologize over or reign them in over in the first place. There is a point when your bitching becaomes illogical and this is quite damn near it.
Oh, don't be obtuse. The Old Dominion is flying drones off the San Doradan coast because... well because they goddamn feel like it. I dunno, maybe its because Sydney told Fairfax to go fuck himself when he flew a bomber out there without IFF for no obvious reason other than to get itself shot down, and then had the gall to demand an apology for it.

Wilkens, I think the point is that people are getting frustrated with what they perceive as a MESS inability, even refusal, to police itself. It's recognized that you, Rogue, and Coyote are straight-up guys, but until recently you've shown little inclination to deal with your rowdy MESS-partners (some exceptions exist, yes, like Rogue's IC post looking to dress down the OD Foreign Minister at the Summit meeting) and even though you're now talking about putting pressure on the OD to back down, the terms for that seem to be that CATO force the NFT to "back down" as well even though, frankly, what has the NFT done that needs backing down? Re-targeting nuclear cruise missiles is a piddling thing (since they can be targeted fairly easily) so what else are they supposed to do? I don't see NFT assets prowling the limits of the Old Dominion's airspace or territorial waters. Are they supposed to stop patrolling their own territorial airspace and waters? The "apology" matter is a dead-letter because that's what the Old Dominion's been demanding in the first place, so if that's what you want you're basically saying "eat crow and give the Old Dominion what they want and we'll try to restrain them".

Also, I just re-read the aforementioned bomber shootdown. In the post the bomber being actually targeted by fire control radar isn't mentioned, just that it's "being tracked". If this is lingo for the former, that's one thing, but it looks to me like the bomber simply reacted to someone actively tracking it and did about the most stupid fucking thing it could.

Really, re-reading that whole thing? This is entirely the fault of the Old Dominion and frankly every MESS power should be glowering in irritation at them and offering their respective friendly relations in CATO a free reigning in without that whole "we reign in the OD and you get the NFT to back down" quid pro quo being insisted upon.

The only reason there's even a crisis is because the Old Dominion wouldn't accept the apology offered - one that balanced the desire of the NFT to not escalate the situation with their understandable refusal to be held completely responsible for what happened - and demanded an apology to their liking which, of course, would've put served to make the incident the NFT's fault, and when they didn't get it they immediately began escalating the situation through the Dominion Hawk flights and kicking the NFT out of various commercial ventures within the internal waters of the Archipelago.

Now, Siege is apparently reducing the alert of the NFT's Rocket Forces as a gesture of de-escalation. Can we stop arguing about this in the OOC chat and let Lonestar and the rest of the MESS make an IC reaction?

Oh I dunno. Because you just effectively reduced the MESS to the same level as some paper organizations like Asean, the Arab Union etc. Not to mention, I remember at least one instance where we were threatened with war once if one member of ours attempted to defend itself from attack. Irony seems to mix huh?

If it hasn't been fucking said before, we want you to reign him in. I believe Siege said it before, Stas said it before, God knows why I have to say and repeat what others have. There will be no fucking apologies offered.

Frankly Wilkens the argument that "you can't hold their actions against us" will only get you so far. When the only thing nations see is that you're sitting back and letting your allies do their bullying without lifting a finger to stop them, time and time again, then why should we not assume you're approving of their actions?

I've seen in-game moves from the Shinra Republic and I believe Canissia to indicate that they object to some moves made (whether they are demoting the Byzantines from the MESS or the Tian Xian/Old Dominion actions of late). No such gesture has been forthcoming from Wilkonia. So yes, considering recent history I think Byzantium has plenty reason to be frosty.

But then I think this has all been explained in some detail several times before. Are you honestly so bewildered by the concept that at some point, your stone dead silence will begin to look suspiciously like implicit approval of your allies' actions?

Um, I believe those islands are already a country. Misteria. Inactive, though.

I might suggest for Zwinmar the island chain directly north of Akori. It's reasonably large in terms of land area.

EDIT: The other option, of course, is the island chain directly north of Al-Itani.

Shroomania is also a bit Germanianish. But we're like, the (non-Nazi) caricature Germans. With Britishness and general madness thrown in for safe measure.

Its a nation full of Brunos...nooooooo!

Also update on the Daedalus 9 mission will be forthcoming today, I'm going to try and get results plus the initial MSA AAR out after dinner tonight.

*Edit* Yeah that didn't happen. I'm gonna get it posted eventually but in the meantime crew is safe, software problem caused the fuel pumps on the core assembly to overpressurize the system. One engine blew out and the others wre close to it when the mission went shutdown and the crew capsule aborted.

If there are any crazy ex-Shroomanian nations in Northern Veleria or the North Pacific, I could send the Cascadian Navy to launch carrier bombings on them?

Hey, don't look at me, man. Compared to their former colonial masters, the Langleys are relatively well-adjusted. If you're gunning for Shroomanian Commonwealth nations in the North Pacific, go for the Zorians; they just need to have their CATO observership revoked first before you commence bombardment, though. :P

Back to serious business, concerning Northern Veleria, it would probably stand to reason that al-Itani, Tanvarika, Yulanti, Ashant, and Fredonia were most likely colonies in the past. Assuming they were indeed colonial possessions at some point, who exactly controlled them?

Also, after Anya's done with her business in Caleigh, would you mind her stopping by in Cascadia and Adabani?

More like all the sane Shroomanians elected to migrate to the colonies to escape the madness of their home country. My guess would be that most of them ended up in Zoria and Indhopal, while the rest were more or less evenly distributed throughout San Dorado, Baerne, Langley, and any other remaining Shroomanian Commonwealth states.
