Those Damn Dirty Stalins!

Post by MKSheppard »

After finishing the Imperial Sourcebook and having free time for the first
time in 24 hours, I took Steel Panthers: World At War v5.5 out for a spin!

Goring's Stalins (Updated for V5)
Date: April 19, 1945
Battle Type: German Defend vs Soviet Assault
Design: CB Blackard

Panthers of the Hermann Goering Panzer Division led by Oberstleutnant Rossmann do battle with the I Polish Armored Corps near Kodersdorf. Included in Rossmann's force are three captured Stalin tanks.

On April 11, 1945, the Hermann Goering Panzer Division was ordered to Goerlitz where the Soviets were attacking en masse. After a successful conunterattack in conjunction with the 20th Panzer Division, the division went over to the defense near the village of Kodersdorf in the Bautzen region. On the 19th, the Soviets 1st Polish Tank Corps launched an attack against the village where Oberstleutnant Rossmann was waiting.

SOURCES: Kurowski, "The History of the Fallschirm Panzerkorps Hermann
Goring", pp. 393-94; Kurowski, "Hitler's Last Bastion", p. 313.

NOTES: If played against the AI, this scenario is best played as German human versus Soviet computer. The captured Stalin tanks are low on ammunition and their crews suffer from a lack of familiarity with the vehicles. Still, they are a formidable weapon and should be used wisely.

Final Report

It was fuckin annoying seeing my 75mm KWK L/70 rounds from the
Hermann Goering's Panthers bouncing off the god-damned Stalins!

Is that how you lost ten tanks? Looking at the T-34-85 graveyard, it's hard to see how you lost any.

Well, they simply overwhelmed me with sheer numbers. They also
had a platoon of SU-100s and a few ISU-122s.

The old "HURRAH" and human/tank wave, right?
