It's good that the Huang Di does not personally appear in those ads. If his visage gets shown in any CATO country, people will just laugh at the television screen in sheer hysterics!

That works for me; I don't really want to restart the game just because we inadvertedly made ourselves a silly world either, not after all the effort we put into it . If we can improve the game by having Q snap his fingers, all the better...RogueIce wrote:I suppose if we were to do that we'd have to invoke Q upping our world. But instead of the Total Reset Button (I don't want to have to redevelop all our stuff, do you?) he would do a sort of shift into it, with our nations basically being as they are, but now it's a bigger world stage. Or something along those lines.
Sure, why not.Of course we might have to alter recent events a bit to account for it, and I suppose that could be a way to bury some of our OOC unpleasentness by having some kind of MESS/CATO tensions...just not to the utter depths we've managed to sink ourselves to.
It's pretty odd, given that our most prominent TV channel, Worldwide One, is a global satellite TV channel. Any add aired there will be seen the world over...PeZook wrote:Why the NFT thing, though? No idea. Maybe their airtime is too expensive.

Not really...when you buy advertising, you don't buy airtime per se, you buy GRPs (percentage of a target audience reached by the advertisement), so depending on local rates, it may be more economical to air several ads locally than one worldwide through one stationSiegetank wrote: It's pretty odd, given that our most prominent TV channel, Worldwide One, is a global satellite TV channel. Re: SD.Net World Redux Comment Thread VIII
I for one actually agree with the whole changing the changing the size of the world. It'd be a shame to totally reset after we have made quite a rich history (though pity so little is documented) in this game and It'd be a waste to just throw it all into the dirt now.
Scaling up the world not only makes sense (I mean, can a world the size of the SDN one really surport life like on Earth?) but it also makes sense if we are going to poof little island and that into existence etc. I don't think we need a new continent to be honest.
Personally though the difficulty in doing this would be large, a geographic map should be made. For a start It'd look far better than just using the politcal map all the time. Secondly it gives us more of an idea on how countries look etc which always helps in RP. Finally It'd be nice for any more space missions done.
I realise this wont be easy but is there anyone who could do this or at least know the tools on how to do this?
PS: That new guy I mentioned is trying to get a good email address that will work and by the sounds of it he will probably want an island. I can't speak for him though.

Yes, our world can support life quite handily: it's much denser, so the surface gravity checks out. Incidentally, it also means we've got a lot more uranium % in the crust, most likely
We could explain the new island away by pretending it "always was there". Or perhaps Q will snap his fingers, and during a morning briefing we get a new folder and go WTF and our aides go "Whatever do you mean? It was always there!"
As for the geographic map, Ryan was supposed to make one. Where's Ryan?

Re: SD.Net World Redux Comment Thread VIII
I like the idea of a middle-sized island continent (maybe around the size of Frequesue) popping up perhaps somewhere near Astaria. Give it roughly second-world standards and some semi-decent nations (perhaps Kingdom-sized), toss in some political tensions between that continent's largest states and Japanistani meddling... Could be very interesting, and it would rid us of the problem that is having nothing to beat up but tiny rebel groups or each other .

Well its good to know that it makes sense but I would still personally vouch for a size increase, even if it was just a bit but thats just me. I will go with the flow on this.
On the continent issue...is there any reason why we can't just mess around with Veleria? The map I am looking may but out of date but there is a ton of unclaimed/NPC territories and I swear the place does not get any love. I mean there is already a Japanistani pressence there so its not as if cannot have some drama on it and we can always RP out a nation has there has finally developed and has stepped onto the international stage. I could be really wrong but it just looks like a wasted area at the moment.

Well would it be possible to make it a standard size that fits around the current world size and maybe for one for an hypothetical Earth size?
Oh and how do you lay it out, do you randomly assign terrain or do you look at profiling and stuff?

Not meaning to hound you again but how do you do it. Do you kind of look at what people put in their profiles/maps and kind of build from there or do you kind of take a gander and guess? I am curious.
I am also wondering if your going to do any little updates if we do add islands and that. What with new players potentially and all.

Just two nitpicks: all of the North pacific islands should be very green and lush. Also, the island chains are in the wrong places and I'd really appreciate if you put them where they belong.

I'm afraid it's not entirely consistent with other geographical features already established as well.,though to be fair on the islands I think he's using an older map that had them arranged differently.

Afaik they've all been arranged in the same place for a while now, as seen on this map:

EDIT: I would like to mention that I support Rogue's idea of an SDNW 2.5 on a bigger world with another continent (or two, maybe).
EDIT2: I fully admit that I support the idea because I want to nom the island chain to Emmeria's northwest without anyone saying "it's for new people".

I've been generally acting under the assumption that Messica has a similar geography to North America, except compressed to scale.

Wow nice work Ryan, I hate to nitpick and I know I made this nuclear in my country profile but Cialan and I think Vulpersia are mountainous. I hope that helps and good luck on any editing with it.

Oh I just made that on the quick, its not accurate as far as specific geography is concerned.Bluewolf wrote:Not meaning to hound you again but how do you do it.
