No mecha, but exosuit. Those aliens are way bigger than humans, and they do have adittional joints, as far as I remember.

Still, I don't know if I would like to see that movie. Interesting story, but the trailers didn't really catch my interest.
A minute's thought suggests that the very idea of this is stupid. A more detailed examination raises the possibility that it might be an answer to the question "how could the Germans win the war after the US gets involved?" - Captain Seafort, in a thread proposing a 1942 'D-Day' in Quiberon Bay

I dunno, I'm totally pumped for it. What I've seen looks very well done and even if the movie turns out to be awful the premise justifies a movie ticket, for me at least.

Nice to see Blomkamp's "Alive in Joburg" short be turned(ish) into a full movie. I just hope that his robo-cop from "Tetra Vaal" makes an appearance. Though it probably won't....

Tetra Vaal is concept enough for a film of its own - to try and shoe-horn them in as a side-plot in District 9 won't do justice to it and would probably lessen D9 as a film as well.

Yeah, so? that doesn't have any bearing on it being good, or otherwise. That depends on the skill of the film-makers.

"No. I think I'd find it a bit small and wierd."
"Aren't they dangerous? Don't they get hit by stuff?"

I'm definitely going to see it. It's hardly going to be any worse than Cloverfield despite the same marketing approach.

My money is on a plot looking at a brief history of their landing, the subsequent exploitation and then them getting a hold of some of their technology and being generally pissed off.

Sounds fun. :D
