PC => XBox360 media streaming issues.

Post by weemadando »

I'm having some problems with certain files (mainly XVID codec) showing up when browsing as the correct length etc, then when I go to play it, it only registers that it's 5 or 10 minutes long, sometimes even only 30 seconds which is blatantly incorrect as most of them are at least half an hour. Has anyone else had this problem? How did they solve it?

I've been searching online but without much success for a solution.

This is why my TV has better media streaming than stupid 360.

Are you using a) the regular 'media sharing' from windows, b) the Zune player sharing, or c) Windows Media Centre? Xvid always worked fine with me, but (for example) h264 has only ever worked through Zune player (even though WMC will find them it won't expose them to 360). I think some of the guys here were way more successful than me getting a variety of codecs working, but I ran into all kinds of wierd problems like yours until I just gave up and used fucking Zune player (which is fucking WMP for christs sake but works differently).

It's the pure PC => 360 via window media player extension crap. Not through Windows Media Centre or anything like that.

I might just have to get a USB stick to dump troublesome files on.
