Dark Elves and Undead are expected to be released in a patch before the September retail release.

( This game, after currency conversion, came to A$60 so in Australia at least, it's a bargain as far as new PC titles go ).

They have faithfully recreated the LRB5 rule set. AFAIK it is a perfect replica barring the omission of the above-named teams.

And yes, I'd love to get as sd.net league going so we can avoid the pub matches (where people who are losing will do their moves and then let the turn timer run down in the hopes you'll get frustrated and drop).

An sd.net league sounds great. Always better to play someone you know of and talk to rather than some random stranger.

I'm finding the AI to be surprisingly challenging, even on Medium. I'm hoping that's just because I haven't played since 3rd edition (and from all the inducements my opponents are currently getting), and not just because I plain suck. ^^;;; My Orc team, "Da Bone Eads", is currently sitting on a 1830 rating. I feel like I'm being overvalued though, given so many of my players are still 1st level and not skilling up. Leveling those who don't score TD's, like the Black Orc Blockers, is a real pain. Most of the rating simply seems to be due to having a full roster of players.

Well I gave into temptation and got the game.
Did a classic campaign on easy and it was pretty much easy, even when I'm bringing in no money and the opposition gets over 1mil in boosts for the match.

Started a blitz campaign on medium and it's getting a little frustrating. I am this close to declaring the computer a cheating bastard. But ..... every time I'm just about to do so something bad happens to them. Computer rolls a 3rd double 6s in a turn for armour penatration, then he has one of his players killed failing a dodge roll. My minotaur does a 3 dice block on a gutter runner, rolls 2 both downs and a push back for first attack and then 3 skulls for his frenzy follow up and then in his turn the gutter runner cripples himself with a failed 'go for it' roll.
Maybe I'm just being paranoid. If I was playing table top against another person we'd probably be laughing at the wierd luck, but when it's against a computer who's also responsible for randomly generating the dice rolls there's just this nagging feeling in the back of my head that the dice rolls aren't that random.

There's been a few complaints on the official forums that there's something screwy with the dice rolls. It seems like they're using some modifiers on whatever comes out of the RNG based on the difficulty level you choose, and if it's Blitz or Classic. From what I've seen, that certainly seems to be the case. The number of times I've had opponents screw up and turn over on their first move in Classic Easy compared to Blitz Medium is ridiculous.

There's actually not much difference between the AI play on the various difficulty levels, from what I'm seeing, though that's actually a good thing. Even on easy, the AI still forms cages around their ball carrier like a tournament level player would, still makes an effort to have a 2nd player next to the ball whenever they attempt a pickup, etc. On Easy, they may make some silly errors from time to time, and their skill choices as teams level through Campaign mode aren't as sophisticated as they could be, but they don't make too many gross newbie errors either, just loads of really poor dice rolls.

There does seem to be a weird bug however (or a balancer working as intended, perhaps?) with AI team scores being calculated incorrectly, giving them more inducements than they should really have, but I'm not sure if that's working to different extents at each difficulty level or not.

I bought the game last week and started a campaign. For some reasons I(Chaos) always fight human , skaven and dwarven teams. I also can't name my minotaur Putin but I can name my players G.W. Bush , Merkel, Brown...

That won't continue forever, only for the first few tournaments. Though you'll probably find you're often fighting those three types of teams in the preliminary rounds. It's a common complaint on the official forums, though we don't know if it's being acted on or not.

I think I will start a custom campaign or cup. There are too many people for a low-attrition team to accomodate.

Isn't a dwarf team low-attrition by definition? Those shorties stare in the face of Death, and make him cry for mercy. Just what kind of campaign could change that?

There'd be rival teams with the names of posters in them so they wouldn't feel completely left out.

If you can create a Gobbo team by the name of Little Green Funk to sit in your custom league, that'd be awesome.

Ah. Put me in a Chaos team then. I'll pray to the Dark Gods for protection every time I run into the Palelabor team. :P

I'm loving this game so far, it's 95% of the tabletop game even with 'only' eight teams. As much as I'd love to try and import the new Chaos Dwarf team I started this year when my league reset, my trusty Green Orcs 'n Ham are doing well for themselves so far. I'd be down for an SD.net league, especially if we set some sort of set schedule where we do 1 game a week or whatever. My time is unfortunately not what it once was.

...RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISE...

Anyhow -I just picked this up to and am loving the shit out of it. It truly is a damn good adaption of hte tabletop - though I know for certain that I will NEVER EVER play the real time mode.

Even if we don't have an SDN league I'd like to do some MP - does the game support PBEM/asynchoronous or is it live only?

The Little Green Funk are going to show the Olde Worlde how it's done. I need to find my old roster sheet though so I can remember all the names.

I believe it's live games only, no PBEM. Which is a bit of a pity really, considering it's turn-based.

Sometimes the game can be cruel, Nuffle gives with one hand and taketh with the other.
The game after my Troll rolls a double which allows him to take Block, my rising star of a lineman (who is also my top scorer) gets hit by a stone from the crowd and even with apothecary re-roll still ends up with a smashed collarbone taking him down to strength 2. He's now pretty much an armoured goblin minus the dodge bonus.

So how's the origional Dwarf team doing?

Can I just say - after years of not playing Chaos - I started a Chaos team and my god are they gimped. Paying that much for a Chaos Warrior and they don't even have BLOCK?

Re-rolls at 120k? Holy fucking balls.

Abandoned. I found the Dwarf playstyle to be really damned boring but it was a good team to play when I was still learning how Blood Bowl worked.

I've got a few leagues running with RL friends which are a total blast, and my Humans are undefeated so far \o/.
