PS3 Sucks

Yeah, I said it - for what it is, and make no mistake, it's a game system, it's balls in my face. Its exclusives are nothing but obscure weird Japanese nonsense and the ports are ass. Fallout 3 is a great example. want DLC? Screw you, get it on 360. Want Better Graphics? LOL, Sorry. MAYBE it'll come later. MGS4? LOL 45 minute cutscene of nothing FTW? Yay for hair rendering!

Sorry, speaking as someone who has had the experience of playing all three of the big three the PS3 is a solid LAST PLACE in my opinion. Yes, it's more powerful, yes it has Infamous, (which is balls, too, BTW) and yes, it has Uncharted (LOL MALE LARA CROFT). but I have played exactly zero games on it which held my attention that I could not play on the 360 (Saints 2, Fallout 3, etc.). for gimmicky fun and silliness nothing comes close to the Wii. so...

I agree, hell there aren't even enough interesting titles for me to even consider getting one. Apparently Sony never figured out that except for the Japanophiles, Americans aren't really into spikey haired teens and samurai/ninja wank which seems to a centerpiece of many Japanese games. Heck, I haven't played a Final Fantasy game since FFIX (discounting Chrystal Chronicles on the GameCube which is a blast with friends) and those have been Sony's ace in the hole along with the Resident Evil series for exclusive titles up until RE went to GC. Are there really any good games for it, or rather are there enough good games for it to justify owning one? Add in the fact that they axed backwards compatability from all but the earliest models and the system isn't really all that compelling compared to it competitors for those of us who don't already own one. Not to mention the fact that its apparently competing more with the PS2 than the other consoles from what I've heard.

Meh, I got a reduced PS3 from my friend. But after MGS4 and Killzone 2 their has really been nothing i've seen that looks interesting. So I might just starting investing back in the 360 again. Of course, I can't name a lot of upcoming titles on the 360 i'm at all interested in either.

The PS3 was the first of this generations consoles that I bought and I've yet to buy a single game for it. I love gaming, I've bought 14 games for my 360, but there isn't a single game that interests me for the PS3.

That said, I still don't regret buying it. It sucks as a gaming console but it's a pretty great media centre. I've had way more problems trying to stream video to my 360 than I have to my PS3 (which has been flawless so far), and I love watching blurays.

Might I humbly suggest the Ratchet & Clank series? They were great on the PS2 and I've seen nothing to suggest that has changed in the transition.

Seriously though, yeah my PS3 is my media center first (watching Blu-Rays, rips off the torrentzLOL, etc) and a gaming machine second. But I do play games on it a lot, by my current reduced standards:-

* Assassin's Creed (haven't finished yet)
* Killzone 2 (finished it)
* Resistance & Resistance 2 (just got them recently, haven't started with them yet)
* Saints Row 2 (just got it, in progress)
* GTA IV (finished it)
* Force Unleashed (finished it)
* Fight Night Round 3 (good for when a friend comes over)
* Soulcalibur IV (ditto)
* Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe (ditto)
* Ninja Gaiden Sigma (haven't finished it, too fucking hard!)
* Buzz (AWESOME, only play with friends, really good when you have a rivalry going)
* LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga (AWESOME!!!!!!!, finished it, trying to get 100% completion)
* MGS4 (finished it)

I plan on getting inFamous and Prototype when they hit the bargain bin. I only buy games when they're reduced or pre-owned, now.

Still I don't play as much as on PC, obviously, but yeah if you have no interest in Halo or GoW (and the latter I have on PC anyway) the PS3's a good choice, IMO.

PS3 is probably superior in casual shit like Buzz and Singstar due to MS's inability to support it's casual games (all ripoffs of Sony ones anyway, lol) but saying a PS3 is a 'good choice' when it has a bunch of 360 games and MGS4 is pretty strange.

It's sad really; I was prepared to recommend PS3s about a year ago, because they seemed to have just as much on the horizon as 360 but it was a newer device, blu-ray, etc, but everything turned out to be shit (average at best).

Also trying to get 100% in LEGO SW means you need to talk to a therapist. That's a dream almost as mentally deficient as playing ME 6 times.

They do after all have PSone classics for sale, and apparently they're at least looking to modifying all PS3s (software wise) so that it can run PS2 games.

That's true, but IMHO, the PS3 and the 360 are both way too loud to function as HTPCs anyway. Ok if you're watching the latest BAYSPLOSION movie maybe, but the fan (and where applicable, drive) noise is annoying in anything with actual dialogue. You'd need a soundproof cabinet or a dubious aftermarket cooling mod to fix that.

Welcome to two years ago!

I bought my PS3 after going through several Xboxes and now I have no motivation to go back. I like the exclusives and I watch blu-rays on my surround sound sytem. I get a lot of use and functionality out of my system, my only wish would be to be able to merge some of the features of Xbox with the PS3, thereby creating some super hybrid system!

the 360 is a bit loud, its not the fan though, i believe it's the CD drive. it's near silent playing games off the hard drive.

The only noise with the 360 I've noticed is the CD drive, the PS3 though has a loud fan.

When my 360 died they actually replaced the CD drive in the repair, my 360 makes less noise than my pc these days.
