Why does this new player have to be Vulpesia?

Given that this new player will be a 210 points player who is quite a newbie, I don't see what he heck the problem is. Its not like he is going to try and start war or something. He does not have to be Vulpersia and might choose differently but the thing is: Why not?

I prefer to err on the side of fewest retcons, admittedly, but if that's what's wanted I have no strong objection.

Of course, though frankly I doubt a duchy on the edge of the OC could be an issue even if it tried to be. Geopolitically it really isn't a very interesting place to sit; trade ties and such pretty much guarantee he'll be drawn toward the rest of the continent, even if he weren't a friend of Bluewolf's. The same is true for Messica; just look at the Caymans, they can't realistically flaunt the wishes of nations like Wilkonia or the IRT, they just don't have the muscle required. If your neighbors can effortlessly swat you with a single MEF without even batting an eye, what are you going to do?

I'm of two minds about the progression of forming the Union. On the one hand, the realist in me figures it'll take months of debate and argument in the various legislatures to approve the Union, and that means it could be a month or two IRL before I could switch over.

OTOH, I kinda want to just get it done now, as in within the next IRL week or so (since I need to get working on the new Union OrBat anyway). I suppose I could justify it by having the measure pass swiftly on the strength of support for it and concerns that delay might, for instance, cause the political fracturing in Alaska that is so widely feared.

So, any suggestions?

You can work out the new OOB but put it in effect in say, a week or two of real time from now. By that time IC the process would already be completed in general; minor legalistic issues will remain.

Also, we see some true colors :) Vineyards and Old Dominion clearly uphold imperialism :P direct annexion, cool going.

Hey, uh, take this as you will, Zwinmar, but I find narrative in the present tense indescribably irritating in a story context--kinda like the one you're using it in. Would you mind using the past tense like the rest of us? :)

Unless you feel like writing posts about the political process of unification go for 'done now'. It might not be the most realistic thing ever, but I doubt anyone will seriously care either way and you can always make a few references later on to how you had to scrable to get your bureaucracy together and how it was a bit of a rush job etc. Or maybe the legislatures were just unnaturally efficient :). And finally you can always play ye olden trump card, 'unreal time'.

EDIT: A question, whatever happened to the Costa? Are there still international peacekeepers there? Realistically I think those elections shoulda gone through already...

On the note that Ryan said. I would like to ask if I could improve in any areas of my RPing so far. I mean am I clear, am I descriptive, are my posts actually interesting to read etc? I am a writer so I don't mind critique and would pretty much love to improve my posts. I don't mind if its brutal, I'd rather know if I have any honest areas of improvement.

Oh and my friend does intend to go nuke anyone or anything and to be honest wont be the height of activity either. He barley even knows of J'panstan at the moment. But meh, the guy should be joining this week or next.

Part 1 of my plan is in motion. Beo, Raj, Steve, Karmic and Ryan, expect various levels of PM spam soonish.

EDIT: The rest of you, a bit of unreal time would be appreciated, as obviously doing responses with this many people is going to take time to put together.

Why aren't you also consulting the NFT in this Frequesean frak-off? They are, by far, the largest nation in Frequesue. Not bringing them in might lead them to suspect all sorts of naughty things.

The NFT is not involved in any direct capacity, Ryan and I both border the disputed claim, Beowulf is the catalyst, and Raj is threatening war.

Because I'm taking those who are:

A) Directly involved (Tian Xia, Indhopal, and the Vineyards, who are supporting Tian Xia; otherwise I probably wouldn't have included them)
B) Those for whom I can get a benefit for or something similar (Cascadia and Miratia, mainly because Cascadia has offered to help mediate and Miratia is on the border)

Basically I want to keep this to an absolute minimum, because the more people I bring in the more likely it is to be derailed. And the NFT and Tian Xia aren't on the best of terms. Plus, as Siege noted, because of their own expansion, Tian Xia could throw out hypocrite accusations or something of the like. And I'm trying to avoid that.

Plus, my actual plan is actually another agreement, with this one made on the side in addition to the main agreement I'm going for. Hopefully you'll understand when I get the ball rolling further.
Karmic Knight wrote:The NFT is not involved in any direct capacity, Ryan and I both border the disputed claim, Beowulf is the catalyst, and Raj is threatening war.
That about sums it up. Ultimately, when you see what the agreement is, I think Siege will understand why I'm not directly involving him.

Basically, I'm going with baby steps here. Big multinational conferences are not in favor at the moment, so I'm trying to cover what I can with as few nations as I can. And then, hopefully, I can work my way up into something bigger. Me and PeZook have plans, though it looks like they're on hold for a bit because of this. But all shall be revealed in good time...

To revisit this, while your country doesn't directly border, your CFR holdings do. So yeah, amend my above post to take that into account. My bad.

On another note, I'm going to head offline to continue watching season four of The Wire which is vastly more important than the lot of you.

You people and your plans!

Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it. You know, I just... do things. Tian xia has plans, the NFT has plans, Rufus' got plans. You know, they're schemers. Schemers trying to control their little worlds. I'm not a schemer. I try to show the schemers how pathetic their attempts to control things really are. - Prime Minister Shroom, in private

Man, I wonder why unlike everyone else I'm not in it for the politicking or for making big-ass military dickwavings, but just play for random whacky nuteries and alliterations and cringe-worthy acronyms. I must be a total nut.
