Sheppard banned?

Post by Nathan F »

I just heard that MKSheppard was banned. Why is this? I mean, he hasn't done anything worth banning that I have seen.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

They were temporarily isolated from the board community. They will be back, soon, but their recent behavior has forced the moderators to take disciplinary action against them. They will not be permanently removed for what they have done, but as Mike explained, we need a cooling off period before they can rejoin the board.

You want weird? Watch Donnie Darko three times in a row, drink a shitload of Jack Daniels, THEN log on and see the biggest flamewar I've seen since before Prodigy Classic was shut down.

EDIT: Hey, w00t, 900 posts.

They've been given temporary bans as both broke the rules in such a manner as to justify a stern warning. What happens when they get back is up to them.

Yes, this has been a stranger than usual weekend. Well not really, they just acted the way they normally do, just more of it.

Strange weekend is right, I swear there was either something in the air/water, or the planets aligned just the right way again...

Btw, Donnie Darko is a friggin' funky but easially understood movie. Took a friend of mine 3 times to finally halfway get it, took me once and I understood it. Go fig.

I don't get it. Why is this one incident called a war? Seems more like a big battle. I've seen so-called "wars" tear apart my clan message board numerous times before in a multitude of threads. This is nothing. It doesn't contaminate the entire forum. It hasn't spread past two or three threads. Or am I missing an ongoing series of related flames in different threads?

I understood the basics after the first viewing (I screwed myself by watching the last 20 minutes on HBO the day before I rented it, so I kinda ruined the ending for myself), but I had to watch it twice more to make sense of the time travel system and the tangent universe. I absolutely love the movie now. I wish I'd gone to see it and not that craptastic 13 Ghosts when it came out.

Personally, his out burst on the AIIF in a way to me were justified. If my understanding is correct, as in that the AIIF is a way for local denizens to 'militarize' and begin systematically invading other boards. In a sense trolling into uncharted waters. which is exactly what has caused problems for us before. His 'uber' flame with the sig line was just a step over the line. Ted on the other hand, I have no idea. I've seen him act like an ass, but then again, who doesn't on this board. I know I sure do. The main part of proof everyone has against him was his starting post in Zaia's thread. Can we fault him for being a dumbass? If we can, then there's gonna be a lot of temp bans based on such a decision folks.

DG_Cal_Wright, Ted has been a very callous person in many instances before the Zaia incident; he was very insensitive to one of us who lost a beloved pet in the BoTM section and he's stepped on others' feelings before, as well as been somewhat of a pain to the females of the board.

This doesn't come from nowhere; there's a history.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

Gee I thought I had told Ted, the rule is only Rob Wilson is allowed to flirt with all of the female denizens all of the time. He's a former soldier, and a professional flirt. (A skill that takes quite some time to master), if he wanted to be able to act like Wilson, he should have apprenticed himself first.

of course all of this shit(e) really pisses me off the most is because of the utter pointlessness of it.

oh, and I got donny darko the first time I saw it on cable. (I can't get out to see real movies that often. :-( but I do try)

There's a rule now? Cool, next step - the UN resolution making it international law that I be the only man on the planet allowed to flirt with single women! My massive sexual power continues to grow... can some tell the ladies it's rude to point and laugh at me like that?

Ryan Crierie has a long history of intolerance and inciting of flamewars from before SD.net BBS was formed. This was but another culmination of that; it should be noted however that his actions here (from what I have gathered from the posts of others) has been much milder than his previous behavior - it's possible he's slowly but surely changing into less of a bigot and hater (hopefully so).

He'll return, it's a temporary ban, and hopefully he'll moderate his behavior. It'll be interesting to see whether he turns the other cheek on his return concerning those that have posted about him in his absence and tries to be a useful contributor to the SD.net community, or whether he takes the opportunity to start a fresh flamewar. You can be sure the mods will be watching to take steps (and that will doubtless include any others that goad him on by taking any bait or pouring fresh fuel on the fire.).

I'll have to agree. First, the AIIF and ATJ were re-organized, I wasn't able to acess the board on Sunday, and now this.
