Re: SD.Net World Redux Comment Thread VIII
The B-2 Black Panther is essentially the real world K-2 Black Panther at 55tonnes with very good cross country mobility because the tank was designed to operate on the hilly terrain in Korea. As such, it has powered suspension and other things to ensure a smoother ride. The difference is of course the gun. Electronics are also top notch. The current upgraded B-2A Black Panther also comes with an uprated 1800hp-2000ho turbine engine to power the point defence weapons such as the fast firing grenade launcher to defeat RPGs and anti-tank munitions that receives guidance from milliwave radar. Fire-control includes a milliwave radar and the usual lot. Latest armor is a combination of NERA and ERA and composites.Steve wrote:Our most likely foe ATM is Japanistan, with Tian Xia a very distant #2 (that would require Beowulf going mad), so that's going to determine what kind of tank we inevitably pick up. Which actually gives you a bit of an advantage given your likely foe and thus use of those tanks. Granted, one potential issue for the designs is that your tanks' primarily use, likely, is in maneuver in the deserts of Arabia and Egypt against Japanistan, while we'd have to either fend with them in the arid steppes or coastal jungles of Veleria or, again requiring a madness of Beo, holding the line in our northern river valleys against a horde of TX tanks backed by the TXAF.
On the other hand, the B-3 Black Tiger is really a king sized behemoth of the same order as the Merkava IV thereabouts. There is a special model with 152/155mm "special" gun, but that, heheh, is for the "Special Weapons Battalions". Production of the B-3 Black Tiger is likely to only to be sufficient to replace the tank brigades in Legacy formations. The tank is bloody expensive.
The tank guns fire weapons similar to those in the US Army X-Rod/XM1007/MRM rocket propelled rounds.

Re: SD.Net World Redux Comment Thread VIII
It's been worked out primarily through PM's. I had raised precisely the objection you've mentioned, and it looks like we are going to have a nice settlement of the issue with a multinational peacekeeping op leading to elections to decide the shape of the new government. Once the details are worked out I believe the idea was that there would be a conference in Miratia where everything would be done in character.Stas Bush wrote:Just what exactly is Beowulf doing in the CFR? He's "standing down" but still posing as the "official government which runs the place"? Meaning that the Indhopalis would have to operate under his authority and admit his territorial claims? I think he has to renounce these territorial claims before anyone would want to work with him (and possibly he did that, I just didn't see a proper IC post yet).
Edit: And as for as tanks go, I certainly don't need Japanistan's 100 ton beast. That thing is simply not suited to realistic needs at all. Thinking on the matter, I figure I can always just upgrade my tanks with a new gun and some form of anti missile system as a stopgap measure and call it a day.
Re: SD.Net World Redux Comment Thread VIII
I believe Skimmer designed the tank simply to scare the crap out of us, and not for actual combat deployment.
