I think he has to renounce these territorial claims before anyone would want to work with him (and possibly he did that, I just didn't see a proper IC post yet).
It's been worked out primarily through PM's. I had raised precisely the objection you've mentioned, and it looks like we are going to have a nice settlement of the issue with a multinational peacekeeping op leading to elections to decide the shape of the new government. Once the details are worked out I believe the idea was that there would be a conference in Miratia where everything would be done in character.
Indeed. Remember, his speech is backdated to prior to the deal being worked out, and I even made a post here in OOC pretty much saying not everything in his speech/actions reflected the current situation. Stas, please pay a bit more attention.

At any rate most of the details seem worked out. Still, I'll make some post about the "start" of the conference just so we can say there was some time elapsed. I don't have time right now to do a big thing, though.

Whoops, sorry, I'd forgotten about that.

Though I still find his assertion that he's killed the entire leadership and established himself as being in charge of the entire region after a mere week of fighting amusing, unless he was using tac-nukes or something similarly obtuse on the capitol. Didn't it take months to defeat the Republican Guard in Iraq? Then months after that to find Saddam Hussein?

That's just political talk for the public consumption. Even if they're not all dead, they're at least in hiding or not openly in power at the moment. As Beo himself later said:
Beowulf wrote:Not all, but most of them. Bear in mind that the first clue they got was the SRAM IIs hitting their palaces. And the remainder are probably going to be more interested in running with their money than actually staying to coordinate a insurrection. Svalbardia is probably a good place for them to run to.
"Most of them" can be interpreted as you wish, but he's not saying all. And to be fair, Sadam and his ilk had plenty of warning airstrikes were coming (remember the countdown?) and time to hide. The oligarchy didn't have anything as convenient to warn them, so getting caught with their pants down is quite possible (the Tian Xian mission had been there for three years without airstrikes, so why would they be expecting them then?).

And don't worry too much about missing OOC details and things like that. Lord knows I've done it enough. Which is why my comment to Stas has the wink smilie for a joke. :)

Just to add to that, the Merkava IV costs $4.5-5 million, and the Israelis are only building around 550 or so. On top of that, I believe they're also the only users.

And Czechmate, its not *that* crazy. It's basically an Abrams with a few Merkava IV design features (like the mortars), some remote heavy weapons instead of the traditional pintle-mounts, and a some additional defensive measures. It pays for it in weight at around 70 tonnes or so, mind.

Thanks! :D

I'll see what I can do to brighten them up a bit. Shouldn't be too hard. I'm just trying to get the terrain looking nice and believable without using a random generator so I can get the features right... that's what's been taking me so long on the larger image, in case anybody's wondering.

EDIT: That is now my desktop. :P

Just to add to that, the Merkava IV costs $4.5-5 million, and the Israelis are only building around 550 or so. On top of that, I believe they're also the only users.
Emmeria is, as far as I know, the only user of Merkava-series tanks or Israeli-style armored vehicles in general, such as the Achzarit-style MBT-to-APC conversion and the Namur HAPC which is similarly based on the Merkava IV chassis. I've only got...let's call it 600 Merkava IVs, maybe? I use them in infantry armor formations (contrast this with cruiser armor, which hunts other vehicles instead of supporting mans) but I haven't calculated the exact unit TO&Es.

I've also been idly designing (OOCly, not ingame) a Merkava V cruiser tank model with a L/55 variant of the M253 gun (as seen on the latest Old Dominion Leopard 2s from A6 onward and the Tian Xian Challenger 2C, the latter of which was actually a Tian Jiaoan upgrade...designed by me :D), instead of the L/44 used by the current Merkava models. It would probably also recieve a pair of remote-operated weapon systems over the commander and loader's hatches, but only to allow firing of secondary weapons in a potential NBC environment or built-up terrain.

...I dunno where all that came from but rant over. :D

Ah Seigetank, that's some rather magnificent bastardry in looting Mortimer's Bank accounts. Unintentionally your greed might actually help the peacekeeping effort by denying the insurgency funds. Though I wouldn't say that in president Hank's tell all autobiography  .

To clarify things on the Misterian situation, 1.5 million people is an impossibly huge number for any kind of mass migration over the sea via ship and aircraft. However, I would also expect the Communists to try and convince them to stay, making pledges of no persecution, offers of keeping their jobs, etc. Some of the upper and middle class folk and hardcore anti-Communists likely wouldn't heed such things - particularly if their views are publicly known and thus making them clear public opponents of the new regime - but the average dweller who's getting swept up in the exodus can be persuaded to stay in a home he or she has lived in their whole life.

The mass exodus would also be further halted if, say, the Communists made a pledge permitting emigration after they consolidate power, taking the urgency out of those desiring to flee and giving further incentive to those who might be inclined to a "wait and see" approach if they're not presented with a "leave now or never" situation as is believed.

Say, whatever happened with the Costas situation? It's been almost two years in-game since that happened and I don't remember if any final deal for settling it was made.

Well, just remember that I *started* with 300 Grizzlies and some nine thousand personnel with very modern kit in service and doubled those numbers over three years. So if you're planning on having an emphasis on tanks at the expense of something else, that's cool, but don't think for an instant you can have all the neat gear and still start with as much stuff (or more, like you did last time ) as I have after 3-5 game years (or however long it's been. I think I started in 2014.)

Likely not, these things can take a lot of time and, if you recall, there was some period of tension between NFT and MESS over Port Nike that could have resulted in stalling the talks, as well as potential further stalling after the bomber shootdown.

I had a potential idea, arguably self-serving, but giving us the potential for further interesting things....

Emmeria became extant in mid-2015 and I issued build orders at the time. I drew down their starting equipment (about half the air force and almost all of the army, and put a bunch of shit in mothballs, including their only CV, forcing reliance on the LVAs), but that's not what we're talking about.

Oh, I see. I thought you were talking about your own military. Sorry? Even so, however, they had quite a bit of unreasonably high-quality stuff for the numbers you wanted, anyway.

I initially assumed my Grizzlies would cost $4-6 million apiece. After some research I'd guess closer to around $5.5-6 million with the wonky charged hull.

We're not talking about our militaries, we're talking about tanks. Jeez. Keep with the tour, kid.

EDIT: I ballpark the Merkava as being about 5 million marks, but that they've been in production long enough that there aren't really any budget anomalies like there would be with something brand-new.

EDIT2: Beowulf, being reasonably good at design schema, helped me drag it down to size and then figure out a design and production schedule for some of the stuff I wanted. See OOB thread for starting -and- current OOBs.
