As far as I know there's still peace keepers down there. I figure by now the country should be about ready to hold free and fair elections, and I'm betting they won't like any of the occupying forces too much.

Just to add to that, the Merkava IV costs $4.5-5 million, and the Israelis are only building around 550 or so. On top of that, I believe they're also the only users.
Emmeria is, as far as I know, the only user of Merkava-series tanks or Israeli-style armored vehicles in general, such as the Achzarit-style MBT-to-APC conversion and the Namur HAPC which is similarly based on the Merkava IV chassis. I've only got...let's call it 600 Merkava IVs, maybe? I use them in infantry armor formations (contrast this with cruiser armor, which hunts other vehicles instead of supporting mans) but I haven't calculated the exact unit TO&Es.
Actually, the Langley Army also uses the Achzarit (or at least an upgraded version closer to the BTR-T in terms of armament) and various Centurion-derived engineering vehicles and APCs (Nagmachon, Puma, et cetera). Other tank conversions in service with the Langley Armed Forces include a modified version of the VIU-55 Munja, as well as Flakpanzer Gepards, M728 CEVs, and various types of bridgelayers and ARVs converted from old Leopard 1 and M60 Patton hulls.

Here is my updated OOB, lovingly ripped off from Stas's beautiful spreadsheets.

Please comment and tell me if you think you spy any cheese or silliness.

Also, what year is it in game time? I think it's around 2017 or thereabouts, but I'm not sure.

So, are you guys gonna do a public process of having Cialin be an observer or what? I think it would be a good thing, both for MESS/CATO relations and, given Cialin's internal politics, might help them out as well. Granted much of it seems to be opposition to being in CATO (or presumably any alliance) in general but the secrecy aspect is also causing dissent. Not sure if it'll help, but at this point it probably won't hurt. A delayed and public application process rather than the usual "You want in? You're in!" might be a good change of pace.

Just a suggestion.

I thought you guys might like having some Caribbean islands. I'm working on other stuff too. Does anyone have any suggestions, or shall I simply just continue to add stuff on my own?

I actually don't mind that at all and I was going to do it anyway. The public would put Michaels head on a poll otherwise. :P I am not sure what the other CATO guys could say to that but I have no objection of it being public.

Oh, cool. Nice to see someone else saw the value in the Israeli style. The Emmerian Namurs mount 30mm cannon turrets lifted off a lot of their Marders that were damaged during the Polarian War in 2002.

So I just noticed the Finland-esque nations. I move that they be decent NPCs who are not butt-buddies with the UCSR. In fact they may not like 'em too much. Just for the sheer hilarity of the MESS offering to upgrade their IADS and watching Stas go nuts.

When I'm done the map I'll get to the new NPCs. None of them will be buttbuddies to MESS -or- CATO -or- Japanistan. Except those guys right next to Japanistan and Egypt. They're pretty much fucked.

This may of been a very bad mistake but I don't see the situation in Empyrean City holding up much longer. I'd ask that some sort of refugee camp would be provided somewhere close by so we can get people who want to move out. I have doubts on how long it will take before total violence spills out and people start dying en masse.

The best option is that island chain nation near Misteria, Langley, Van Halstoff Territory (Cascadian/UPR), and al-Itani in Veleria. Maybe Tanvarika (hrm, Czech, that brings to mind something....).

Alternatively, we get the leadership of the new regime to agree to publicly pledging to permit emigration and to not persecuting the people trapped in the city, which should reduce the desire to flee to acceptable levels.

Frankly the airlifts and such are a stop-gap, there's no way to get a city of 1.5 million people evacuated entirely in any feasible stretch of time or cost (since, well, where would they go afterward and how would they be supported?). I suspect as much as two-thirds will choose to stay if the Communists pledge to open emigration and non-persecution, alternatively of course is the pretty-unacceptable alternative of backing the Republican forces against the Communists and trying to defeat their revolution militarily or at least suppressing it so that the fair-weather supporters fall away from it, inviting as it does the prospect of a long, costly, and bloody occupation, hostility overt and covert from the UCSR, and the risk of the situation escalating.

Currently Cascadia's approach (the PacUnion doesn't exist yet) is strictly one of trying to cease the problem with diplomacy, convincing the new regime to back off and permit evacuation of die-hards while using promises and pledges to reduce the numbers of those wanting to flee (and, of course, asking President Shady to intercede with the regime and support such measures).

Getting those who want to get out regardless is probably a good idea and will still be a fair portion of people. One of those islands nearby should do it. At the same time we should be asking the new regime to try and stabalize it all. I agree, we cannot get all those people out and swaying their minds is probably a better idea then trying to do a city wide evac. There is not point starting a fight with the new regime either as that means more die and that is counter productive of course.

PS: Pollux, you can't say your country never got any attension after this. :P

Hey Pollux, what's with the "no ships can leave" order? That's going to cause trouble very quickly.

Cialan is going to ignore that restriction. I am not trying to start crap but I am not going to let my ships be trapped in a foriegn port, thank you very much. I am pretty much getting who I can out and attacking me or my cargo really is not a good idea. I am willing to come to an agreement though. :)

Um Bluewolf.... "Duchess" of Langley?

Also Van Halstoff Territory is being readied to take refugees, though the climate and terrain is a bit less hospitable (tropic cleared jungle).

You should've thought about possible consequences before sending unarmed ships into a warzone without clearly defined power though. Right now you're facing the loss of your ship if you don't comply... which isn't a toothless threat coming from a missile cruiser.

Also, Pollux, how is the situation with the Navy playing out? They all mutineed? I presume in the shape Misteria is in, many ships shouldn't be serviceable at all. ...

Yeah, pretty much the entire navy mutinied, whereas the army was more of a 2/3 split and the air force was an even split: that's why the numbers of planes on the OOB are so weird.

And, yes, unless things settle down soon, I expect attrition of the ships to become an issue very fast.
As for your OOB, I presume you got all that Crimson stuff licensed from Japanistan during your earlier days?
Uh... I hadn't actually put that much thought into where we got all our stuff...

I had assumed we had the capability to produce at least equipment of the T-72 era (or at least copies thereof ala PRC) and small arms up to the present, as Misteria has a thriving small arms industry. This can all be retconned of course, if it doesn't make sense or is otherwise objectionable.

Yeah, equipment like AKs, etc. quite easily, but Misteria is a small nation. Makes sense if you bought the larger stuff (retired missile cruisers and tanks, for example, et cetera) from the Japanistanis, they are our equivalent of China and they do have a lot of licensed Crimson designs.

Just to note, I am note. I am not trying to start a fight here. I am just a bit iffy about my ships being restricted. To be fair this is the first time such a situation has occured and hell, I am learning. Cialan will intend to fully pull out when it can.
