Granted, I haven't studied the Honduran constitution, but in the article that Shep posted, it says that the president will immediately cease in their functions, which the author interprets as "no impeachment necessary". And also as stated, there doesn't appear to be a clear mechanism for removing a president that loses his position. So while this action may have been a bit heavy-handed, it doesn't look like it was unlawful, or even skipping due process.

"Immediately cease function" does not provide for expelling him from the country. Nor does it provide for suspending the rights of the citizenry. Whether or not this began as a constitutional venture, it's rapidly devolving.

Nothing like representative government in action, is there? If what the coup plotters did was legal, why the forged letter? Why the curfews? Why the kidnapping and exile?

One more thing: Since when is an unfavorable Supreme Court ruling grounds for the forced removal of a head of state?
