If noone arrives than I guess you're in and I'll write up the post myself.

Also: I prefer Fin's method of dealing with traitors. Off with his head!

Pretty much everything in Shroom's little screed about the Shinra Republic is, at best, PM Shroom simply talking out of his ass for the hell of it. Or he's extremely delusional. Either way, it's not true.

"Geostigma" would be the colloquial Shroomanian term for the SDNW equivalent of recent SARS/Avian/Swine/AH1N1 flus that do require some degree of containment.

And A350s as well. A340s and A330s are also on option. All depends on how comfy you want your crew to be, and how much electronics you wish to load them up with, as well as range.

Stas Bush wrote:I guess the logical reply to that would be "Would you rather have the NDF burn down your home and you alongside?"
The NDF was "fighting for the people" and only going after the army and government, traitors to the revolution! Besides, they didn't actually burn any homes down (well, maybe those refugees but they're wanting to leave anyway). The UCSR pretty well levelled a city, to go by Pollux's description. Who do you think the people who lost their homes and businesses are gonna be pissed at? Not to mention the civilian causualities will be on the UCSR's head, because they bombed it.
PeZook wrote:Naturally, there's probably some countries which will be spinning this their own way.
Going by the post, the UCSR destroyed most of the city to get at a bunch of people armed with AKs and who lacked heavy gear and air support, as Stas pointed out. I can see people having a legitimate gripe with that. It was a wee bit of overkill, to put it mildly.

Whoops, almost missed this.

Yeah, we did. Peacekeepers from Mirtatia, Indhopal, Tian Xia and Vineyards, under an overall Cascadian command, who will keep for the most part to their little zones. Unless some carefully planned and staged "joint mission" is done for PR purposes. And when the situation is "secure" they'll have elections to determine their future. And a formal treaty is signed between Indhopal and Tian Xia to cement that prior gentlemen's agreement about the 200 mile thingy.

If you want me to write a story post I can, but I probably won't be able to until later today and more likely tomorrow. But otherwise the meat of the talks are over and we're agreed.

Son of a bitch. Fixed it. All these acronyms and names are getting way too close to each other. As Steve knows, I kept fucking up over AIM in referring to Misteria because it's spelled so close to Miratia (and I'm way more used to typing out the latter so it happens sort of automatically...like NDF vs NFT).

Pollux should have been more original.

Yeah it seemed to me that it had all been pretty much figured out and it was time to make it official :) . Whenever you get a chance to put up a post about it is fine. The point of the in game post was to have a bit of Indhopal's impatience leak out to the press.

I got the impression the UCSR air strikes were by tactical bombers and were surgical in nature as opposed to "level the grid square".

Frankly the NDF was apparently the most violent and brutal of the new Revolution's components and the areas they occupied probably already denuded of residents, so having the UCSR pummel them with airstrikes is going to win them more brownie points than baddie points.

Except the pictures shown are very much more in the vein of: level the grid square. Second, it's a fairly decent distance from Misteria to the UCSR. Tactical bombers probably aren't doable for that. Inflight refueling would be a necessity, and most pilots aren't fans of 8 hour missions strapped to a seat. Got diaper? Might have fighter-bombers from the UCSR carrier group, I suppose.

Interesting save, Shroom. But I wonder if you would've come up with it if I hadn't prompted it with an IC reaction. :P

Of course, this just means that Shroomanian practices are utterly retarded since they would only need specify the concerned pathogens instead of applying some catch-all cultural term nobody else gets. :P

Finally, uh, my avatar wasn't even involved in that bit, the complaint was auto-generated by the State Department and that legislator was doing his own thing. :P

And Beo, the carrier group was stated as participating. And I got the impression that it was Pollux who thought that Shady's bombing was of the intensity to create the "Level the grid square" effect.

I would totally continue to dick around with GEOSTIGMA though. :P

(I still will!)
Of course, this just means that Shroomanian practices are utterly retarded since they would only need specify the concerned pathogens instead of applying some catch-all cultural term nobody else gets. :P
WHAT? Prior to this post, the geostigma was just used flippantly by P.M. Shroom when backbiting Rufus Shinra for fun with Sidney Hank and Alison and Lady Anethga.

On-screen, no actual-factual medical personnel in Shroomania ever used the term 'the geostigma' professionally in a clinical setting. The medical professionals there, such as Elmer Fudd and Dr. House were explicitly clear that the term 'the geostigma' is a catch-all cultural term that Shroomanians use. One of them even elaborated that the geostigma is basically everything from AIDS to BSE to Zygo-whatsits.

The geostigma is just what the laypeople call it. Actual-factual doctors and stuff will definitely be more exact with their stuff.
Finally, uh, my avatar wasn't even involved in that bit, the complaint was auto-generated by the State Department and that legislator was doing his own thing. :P
It was a good alliteration though. You gotta give me that. :)

I don't buy it. Where is he getting this from? For some reason we have higher incidences of disease? We have lax health and safety regulations compared to the rest of the world now? Why don't they do this for PeZookia, Byzantium, Wilkonia, Indhopal, or anyone else? Do they all mysteriously perform these pretravel physicals and we're the only two nations who don't? Did he just RP everybody's nations?

Or is this all a load of BS spun by Shroomania to...accomplish what exactly? Annoy the Shinra Republic and Cascadia? Why?
Steve wrote:And Beo, the carrier group was stated as participating. And I got the impression that it was Pollux who thought that Shady's bombing was of the intensity to create the "Level the grid square" effect.
Well, it's his city. And it was his post. If Shady wasn't levelling the city, he needs to speak up and address it. Otherwise we have little other choice than to accept it did, in fact, happen the way Pollux implies.

And if not then I'm curious about the glowing success. Not all 80,000 NDF are going to be morons who charge out in unarmored trucks to get themselves killed by APCs. And if the solution was to just go, "NDF in that building! UCSR bombers, level it!" that's still not exactly going to endear them to the locals who get their shit blown up. It wouldn't be as bad as levelling the city, but it's not all roses and rainbows, either. Or they do it the bloody urban warfare way, which sucks for the troops but probably wouldn't be quite as destructive. Or maybe it will, if they replace "airstrikes" with "artillery".

Essentially, what it all boils down to is: more information on just what they did is needed.

Yeah, I know you were doing it mostly as a joke thing regarding Shinra, but I couldn't help a post having PM Shroom's delusions have an undesired geopolitical effect. Of course, you put in a decent save.

I still think the whole thing works better if it's just Shroom being his usual self and the world gets to shake its collective head at "those wacky Shroomanians". :P

Indeed. If it's just Shroom being Shroom, I don't much care. The only reason I posted the "not in a wheelchair" bit was to make sure nobody thought it was real, since somebody apparently thought it was enough to ask.

On the other hand, if this is some specific policy targeting just me and nobody else, well, that is a problem. Naturally, we're not going to like it much. Now if these requirements are done for all travelers who enter or exit his country, regardless of where else they go (ie: tourists coming in from PeZookia/Baerne/UCSR/etc get the same treatment as those coming from the Shinra Republic) it's less of an issue; an odd and probably annoying for travelers Shroomanian practice, but at least it's not targeted at one specific country. If it is targeted at just me (and Cascadia) than we have obvious concerns about it.

EDIT: Especially when you just essentially put down our healthcare standard and practices, the safety of our food industry, and so forth. That is not going to help keep smooth relations at all.

You are going to judge this by pictures??? :wtf:

Yeah those pictures are the real deal and not something randomly found on the internet and then posted to help describe the situation a bit more colorfully.

The UCSR bombed NDF troops which were dug in, in certain locations across the city, as per Pollux's post. We knew their location and guided weapons were used, collateral damage is minimal. Jesus fucking Christ, I didn't nuke the fucking place.
