Somehow, I think I must be grateful for lacking a DeviantArt account to see that.

Smooth skin is sort of neutral to me, but if it is polished like porcelain and matches dead, glassy eyes, then brrrrr....

Another fictional depiction of the Uncanny Valley effect features Brent Spiner again, this time in ID4 where he is throttled to death by an alien trapped in a glass walled medlab and his corpse is used as a chilling meat puppet to talk to the President on the other side of the glass.

Here's my personal experience with this effect...

As a child, the original TMNT live actiom movie came out and I went to see it. The turtles looked rigid, and frankly rather monsterous, but I found it cool not scary. Years later, the third comes out...the turtles look smoother, more flexible and to be honest more like what a "real" giant man-turtle would look like. It creeped me the fuck out.

So yeah.

The thing is in the first one they looked like dudes in monster suits. In the third movie they looked, to me, too realistic and too close to what the "real thing" would probably look like, and it was disturbing at best and downright monster-like at worse. It's one thing to see a guy's mouth flap up and down when he "talks", and another to see his expression change slightly with his words to show sarcasm or anger like a real face.

Mr. Chocolate Man from Lynx commercial is pretty horrific, especially with his frozen broad grin and his dead (but wild) eyes.

If you want to go uncanny valley splunking, look no further than the Puttermans.

^I've seen on of the "Putterman" ads where they seemingly murdered a doll woman by swapping her Duracell with a cheap battery. :wtf:

Another example is Johnny Cab from Total Recall.
