Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
Looking through the pictures on that site shows River with the new Doctor which dosent look promising and the Sonic Screwdriver got a makeover as well. It would appear they are literally revamping ALL of Doctor who into a 'younger' look by having a shiny TARDIS, younger Doctor, assistant and a flashy Sonic Screwdriver. If they were going to do this then the start of the new series would have had the least trouble but now the Doctor seems to be aging backwards and suddenly all of this stuff is going to appear brand new.
I second the opinion he looks like a prat but at least if he had the personnality to match it could be an interesting change. Unfortunatly I find it unlikely they would introduce a new Doctor that was like Colin Baker or the first Doctor even assuming a younger Doctor would be able to carry personnality.

Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
I'm starting to think the Christmas specials are going to be more than just a farewell to Tennant. I wouldn't be surprised if they're doing a major universe reset. Maybe the Timelords are coming back for good? No more emo Doctor?
Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
Wow, it's the winner of the 'make the sonic screwdriver even more phallic' competition.

Re: The Doctor's New Clothers
This looks a lot more like the earlier TARDlS, actually. More like a real police telephone box, in fact. Looks almost exactly like the one that stands in my hometown.Batman wrote:Isn't The Doctor's TARDIS supposed to be stuck with looking like a 50s era police phone box? Ecclestons and Tennants did (or at least did look like one would EXPECT a 50s era police phone box to look like) and so presumably did its earlier incarnations. This one does NOT.
lt's interesting, because Moffat took a deliberate pop at Outpost Gallifrey pedants in "Blink" regarding the size and dimensions of the TARDlS.

Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
I'll take your word for it, my exposure to Dr Who was practically nonexistent prior to nuWho and I don't think I've ever seen a real one. It's just that this one looks brand spanking new, and that just doesn't feel right to me. The battered look of the Eccleston/Tennant one did. Of course, that's just personal preference.

Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
While that might be interesting the latter is highly unlikely given that a complete reset would mean the Doctor's family comes back with the Timelords. If not then it still leaves more room for emo Doctor and stinks of the same universe hates the main character clich that Children of Earth did for Jack Harkness. Although it also means they get to bring the Daleks back in the most justifiable way possible compared to the crap they have been doing thus far so it may or may not work.Bounty wrote:I'm starting to think the Christmas specials are going to be more than just a farewell to Tennant. From the pictures the Sonic Screwdriver changes appearance which I presume means they are turning it into some sort of moving parts ensemble for added flare. Rather pointless but now they have a nice shiny toy to market I guess.
Noone forced you to click the link and if getting hissy just because you saw a single name in a thread discussing the new series, nevermind that this particular name has been telegraphed as coming from last season so what did you expect idiot ?Hillary wrote:Cheers for the spoiler Fuckwit.

Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
Excuse me, why is the reveal of the new look of the TARDIS, the reveal of the new Doctor, and the reveal of the new Companion NOT a massive spoiler while the reveal of a probably returning oldWho character IS?

Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
One is a plot element, jackass, the other is purely superficial (although it all looks like shit to me). Nobody's going to be upset to learn early that the TARDIS now looks like an inflatble bouncy castle or that the screwdriver now looks like an apple corer, but they MIGHT actually be annoyed to have an ACTUAL PLOT POINT 'spoiled' by foreknowledge.Batman wrote:Excuse me, why is the reveal of the new look of the TARDIS, the reveal of the new Doctor, and the reveal of the new Companion NOT a massive spoiler while the reveal of a probably returning oldWho character IS?
I'd like to see this guy punished for this. I don't give a shit about spoilers myself, but this thread has no spoiler tags and he posted spoilers. RAR!

Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
The 'spoiler' is in the picture on the same site as the pictures provided by BO and the site itself gives a spoiler warning thus it is NOT my fault if one dosent read the instructions on the site nor use sound judgment when clicking on links they would rather not see. Otherwise all that will be seen is a single ambigious name that would have been missed by the clueless and the people who actually know who it is should know not to click the link if they dont want the actual spoiler, no ?
Instead this hissy fit only serves to be more of a spoiler and draw more attention to it than the original post.

Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
Or spoilers could just be tagged as spoilers. Hmmm.
I love the whole 'stop talking about my error, you're only making it worse' argument. I thought there was no real spoiler at all to worry about?

Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
The spoiler is on the site and is labelled as such on the site. So clicking on the link still gets no excuse and anyone who is savy enough to know the name would have been smart enough to know it was inevitable as Rose coming back in Journey's End so how mentioning a name spoils anything is nothing but childish overreactions.Stark wrote:Or spoilers could just be tagged as spoilers. Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
Uh, the spoiler is in the text of your post on this site, which people can't know until they've already read it. People can not click links; they can't un-read something.

Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
Excuse me, people most certainly CAN not click links. If people DIDN'T want to know about River being reintroduced into Whodom, they COULD, you know, not have clicked that link.

What? He says it RIGHT UP THE TOP OF THE PAGE. You don't have to click ANYTHING. You know, the part of his post that PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ANGRILY QUOTING?
Are you stupid? Nobody has to click a link to be 'spoiled' by Pred1278361's post. Reading it is enough.

Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
For fuck sake, the whole 'plot point' bullshit is only spoiled by looking at the picture which is tagged as a spoiler.Stark wrote:Uh, the spoiler is in the text of your post on this site, which people can't know until they've already read it. End of discussion.
Otherwise the 'text' is limited to one word: River
Oh gawd... the horror a name is such a fucking massive spoiler, WTF ?
If I had said Sarah or Dalek would people be having a hissy fit like this ?
Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
So you've gone from saying it's ok because you have to click a link, to saying it's not a spoiler to say xyz character is coming back? Hilarious. Change your story again!
Face it; it's a spoiler. I don't give a shit, but some people do, and since the thread isn't flagged spoilers it's inappropriate. Your attempts to 'prove' it's 'totally not a spoiler' are just lame.

The new Doctor looks like he's dressing up as Colin Firth.

Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
I'm Batman, and thus there's 70 years worth of recorded history saying that yes, I AM stupid.
And I don't see how merely mentioning River constitutes a massive spoiler. Yes, it IS absolutely A spoiler, but so's a lot of the other stuff being posted in this thread. What makes the return of River so much more spoiler-y?

Re: The Doctor's New Clothes
Yeah well I don't give a shit either, but people do, and the convention is to flag threads containing spoilers so spoiler-shy people can avoid them entirely rather than have 'XYZ CHARACTER IS BACK THIS SEASON' surprise them on page two.
