Nevada attitudes toward water conservation

There are 10 states bordering the Mississippi River, with 20 senators between them. The majority of these states and senators are conservatives who don't like California and Las Vegas, and all of these states have been losing jobs and population to the Sun Belt for years and have no inclination to help them out of a jam of their own making. Hell will freeze over before a single drop of the Mississippi goes to water a golf course in Phoenix.

I never water the lawn. I live in Illinois so it's not usually entirely necessary, but it boggles my fucking mind that it's people in a goddamn desert area who want the green lawns when the people around here, who don't have to work hard for it, often don't even bother. And we've even done water rationing out here, next to Lake Michigan. It's such arrogance and ego. They've turned some dirt into a moronic status symbol.

Indeed. It's hard to imagine anything in normal society more arrogant than a green real-grass golf course in the desert.
