It seems like concept art for a new Disney game called Epic Mickey has been (deliberately or otherwise) leaking into the gaming blogs. It's a bright and colourful romp through the happy world of Disn very weird looking steampunk-dystopian-horror-thing.

Details were originally spotted by Superannuation who found out that a development and concept artist listed the project - "Epic Mickey" (Wii Video Game) - on his online CV and pointed to some concept art (which you can find on this page) said to be from the game.
CVG has learnt that the game is indeed called Epic Mickey and it's being worked on by ex-Deus Ex man, Warren Spector at his Junction Point studio. But the internet already seems to know that.
We've since been told that it's a Wii-exclusive where you paint your way through levels using the Wii Remote. This 'painting your way' involves you drawing, etching and erasing whole or parts of levels as you go. Capcom's Okami immediately springs to mind but we've not got enough info to go on to make any kind of informed judgement.
As for the story, we've also been told that it'll be based around very old and/or forgotten Disney characters who are out to get their revenge on Mickey, presumably because they're jealous of all his fame and fortune. We Googled 'early Disney characters' and found that Oswald the Lucky Rabbit returned a lot of hits. A bit before even CVG's time all that though.
So not much to go on. We've contacted Disney about the extra info but don't really expect any confirmation as the game's still unannounced. But looking at the concept art, we're quietly excited already. There's plenty more
So yeah, someone's gone and made a grimdark Disney game. It was just a matter of time.
That first picture is fantastic. That's what someone would have drawn if you said 'Imagine Disney, only wargrimdarkangst'. Indeed, that may have been how it started.
Huh. That looks surprisingly awesome. We'll see how much of it translates to the game, though.

I'll believe this when there's confirmation. Until then, it's just another internet rumour, and we all know how well most of those turn out, huh?
I can easily see this as some random guy's art project, which some other guy posted on a blog as a new disney game as a joke, and it just getting out of hand.

The gameplay sounds odd, but the concept art is great and Warren Spector is pretty damn good. I heard Kingdom hearts was good, so this might be as well? . (And what the hell, it's been a while since anything interesting came out for the Wii).
Photography Genius is always allowed some leeway, once the hammer has been pried from its hands and the blood has been cleaned up.

The closest anyone's gotten to a confirmation is that it is listed on the artist's resume; this at the very least means it's a project he is being paid to do. Whether it translates into an actual game, time will tell.

Turns out that a five way cross over between It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the Ali G Show, Fargo, Idiocracy and Veep is a lot less funny when you're actually living in it.

This looks like the kind of game we need to see more of from Disney Interactive. DI is a studio with immense resources, able to call upon the sheer mass and raw power of the Disney corporate machine....and they develop stuff like Hannah Montana sing along...
It looks like they picked up some good habits from Square Enix though. If DI wants to start a serious development trend of their own, they'll have everything they need for it.
That first pic looks awesome. The third one is sorta cool too. Not sure I care for what they seem to be doing to The Goof.

I will open up and admit I actually Liked Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2. (although the lack of three dimensional worlds in KH2 kinda annoyed me) so if this one is anyhting like it I might play it.
. (And what the hell, it's been a while since anything interesting came out for the Wii).
