How Do You Chill?

Post by Raoul Duke, Jr. »

So, how do you chill out? What's your preferred method, activity, accessories?

I like to sit in my living room, with the lights at 45%, a blues CD in the ol' Sony a Nat Sherman Tribune (cigar, not newspaper) and a nice glass of Southern Comfort. Alternately, I take portable versions of all those things up to the roof of the Chase Building downtown...

What about you?

All I need is to grab a book from my library, park my behind in the thick La-Z-boy in my den, flick on the gas fireplace, and lose myself in a good satire book or ghost story.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

Put on some jazz, dim everything but one light, curl up in my large leather laz-y boy, get some old yet good book, and have a drink on the side.

I chill one of two ways.

One: in flannel pj pants, a comfy long sleeve t-shirt, big thick socks under a blanket next to the fireplace reading a book with my favourite mug full of either hot chocolate or chai tea. Sometimes with music in the background, but usually not.

Two: in the bathtub, with scented bath oils and things, lots of candles lit around the room (with the lights turned off, of course), music of some kind (usually either love songs, jazz or orchestral), and an amaretto sour with extra cherries.

I play guitar, either classical, nice neo-accoustic, or metal riffs... I also just listen to music and read or draw, never drink coffee though, makes on even more stress unless its a gooooood cup of coffee... Earl Grey with 2 lumps of sugar is nice though

The best coffee for chillin' (you'll be surprised) is to be had a Circle K. Get the jumbo 32 ouncer coffee cup, and follow these directions (flavors may vary):

3/4 cup of Dulce Du Leche (Caramel) Cappucino
Chocolate Macadamia Nut Coffee (leave between 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch empty)
Cremation Hazelnut flavored cream to the brim.

Stir vigorously
Wipe bottom and sides of cup with napkin as needed (don't want sticky fingers!)
Enjoy!

Grolsch I can recommend... it's the only beer I know of that, for the first few seconds after you pop that cork, smells like marijuana. That has to be worth something.

I curl up in my chair covered with a warm blanket and browse my favorite places on the internet. Sometimes I watch TV or read instead.

I go over to my friend's house and watch my copy of LOTR on his 30-inch TV. Or I hang out with him in his basement, watch cable and eat cheesesteaks.

I go to my room, strip naked, put on a few soft rock tunes (ie U2 Joshua Tree), make the room very dark, then switch on my lava and plasma lamp. If i'm really stressed i'll also smoke my pipe.
