Well, Colbert ran for president :P
Tried to run, he tried to get himself on the South Carolina ballot but the local democrats refused because they were terrified it would have resulted in Hillary winning the state if they had let him.

He should have run as a Republican. Half of them think he's serious anyway.

To run as a republican you had to pay a 55000$ fee compared with a 4,000$ fee as a democrat. It's why he ran as a Democrat to begin with.

Honestly, he'd probably win if he ran for office here in New York, so long as it was the city or Long Island. He's a popular guy, to put it mildly.

That was a bit of an afterthought, I wasn’t referring to anything really specific. Mainly that Olbermann has been calling bullshit on many a different thing for quite some time both in the regular segments and in his special comments, the latter of which he at times delivers with intense passion.

With MSNBC being somewhat erroneously seen as a liberal counterpart to FOX News, which it is clearly not, it still surprises me somewhat that Olbermann was allowed to go after Bush, Cheney, and company on a nightly basis to the degree that he did even with their maladmistration’s tanking poll numbers.

I remembered and found this example directed at Bush:
Countdown with Keith Olbermann' for Feb. 14: Transcript wrote:There is a dictionary definition, one word that describes that toxic blend. You‘re a fascist—get them to print you a T-shirt with “fascist” on it.
Yet even towards the end, with blood in the water, few in the mainstream news media went after Bush Co. to the degree that Olbermann had been doing for years; and the only person I can think of off the top of my head who did and qualified as “mainstream media” is Rachel Maddow, though I sure there are some others – Elfdart could probably say.

Yet on top of this Olbermann has also gotten away with going after elements on the so called left with arguably equal gusto, namely Hillary Clinton (twice in Special Comments), although I do recall him going after Pelosi and Reid a few times (don't recall exactly when or where though).

While it’s entirely possible that Olbermann was asked or told to tone it down, it’s certainly hasn’t been obvious, at least not to me. Although, I guess in retrospect I shouldn’t be too surprised. MSNBC hired Rachel Maddow and saw a ratings boost, so maybe the corporate gods are just leaning in the direction that the wind is blowing, and I’m sure the increased revenue doesn’t hurt either. :P

Edit: I just wanted to add that the quote is a little over halfway through the transcript.

I think one of my fave parts was where she was trying to discredit him by pointing out that the was ritch, lived in a huge mansion, and had no problems paying health expenses for anyone in his family, etc. And he immediately turned it around on her by pointing out that it is precisely because he is rich that he support universal health care, so he can help those who aren't so fortunate.

He was certainly more patient than I would've been, she spent nearly the entire interview talking over him and refusing to let him get a word in edgewise. Probably related to the fact that whenever he said anything she got her ass handed to her...

I really didn't get what she was trying to do by pointing out that he was rich. Was she trying to win over the audience by pointing out that he's rich and thus not in touch with the people?

Watching the interview was pretty painful on her part with her trying to misinform people what living wills and advance directives are and trying to convince people that planning ahead for these situations is a bad idea.
