Status: SNAFU. KNOT Radio is currently in jeapordy of losing their collective ass, which is why they hadn't gotten back to me yet about broadcasting my work. Makes sense, in light of the possibility that they might not be broadcasting anything in the near future.Warspite wrote:Kepp 'em coming!!!!

Advice, please: should I go in and demand the material back?

Thanks!
Yeah, AFAIK, KNOT Radio webcasts in both RealAudio and Windows Media Player formats.
BTW, for the graphics gurus among you, I'm supposed to come up with a logo for the show -- I'm thinking the title in "FLLV" jacket-cover style text (sorta jagged-looking stylized letters) stacked like this:
DANGEROUS FUN
in the
HOUSE
of the
SCORPION
Along with a circled scorpion image above it. Can anyone take a stab at that? You'll be credited for the work.

It's great work, Raoul. I've a few friends who've published various things, and know a handful of TV anchors and radio personalities. Any one of them would steal your material in a heartbeat, it's that damn good.
If you're going to publish, you can go local, or you can sink a few bucks and go for a wider audience. There are a few options open to you that I know of in terms of publishing houses if you ever compile a book of short stories.

Wow... now that's flattering. But of course, I always double-PMC my material, first by the time/date stamps on the original posts here, and by sealing the hardcopy of each new story into a manilla envelope and mailing it from me to me for the USPS time/date stamps.Lagmonster wrote:It's great work, Raoul. About the other thing, broadcasting the Dangerous Fun articles via internet radio will give me three important advantages in selling them in book format: 1, Previous publication in another format. 2, Market response to the material, and 3, Name recognition. All three of which should, by all rights, make a publishing house jump to write me an advance check. Yee-ha.

By the way, Lag, do you know anyone who can promote this? I'm trying to find sponsors for the show (I like to get paid, what can I say?) and the more publicity for this thing, the easier it will be to sell the anthology in book form.
And for the rest of you, do me a big favor and sound off if you're going to give the show a listen and how many people you think would listen with you...
Also, has anyone come up with a logo I can print up and use for the flyers?

Just out of curiousity, how many of these stories do you have? And yes, I will be listening on Friday.

Well, all the stories are here, so far. You guys get first look, as always. I haven't actually counted them, though, so if anyone would like to do me a favor and give me a story count, word count and (if possible) an estimate of how many trade paperback sized pages I have total thus far, I'd really appreciate it.

Raoul, you wanted my opinion? Suck up to Bean, here.Mr Bean wrote:And it helps to have an Aunt who is two steps from CEO at a Publshing Company(Though unless your decided to right a Kidde Book or any Teen Fiction I don't think she will know anyone to talk to Though I'll check)
As for promotions, huh...online radio shows. Does the show offer promotional spots? If you come up with promo or advance-interest ads will they help get them visible? After all, it's in their interest to get you noticed, since it'll bring them visibility and thus money. I don't know what deal you've struck, or what the terms of presentation are.

Okay, it is currently 10:57 my time. Check that against the time/date stamp on this post to calculate what time it will be airing on your terminal (here's a hint -- T minus one hour, three minutes and counting, ho ho)
Anyway, I'm not sure what kind of arrangements I'll make for a sponsor -- I do have an interested party already... the bar upstairs, called Gordon Beirsch. It seems to be a sort of ritzed-up sports Bar & Grill type setup. I'm going to push for three sponsors: one local, one national and one international (If, that is, I ever get big enough for that.) So far, Gordy's is looking like a good local boy, I'll try for Harley-Davidson on national, and I'm not even going to think about international until I see the potential to go that far.
