I might have exaggurate a bit. But if you read the Xeelee sequence, you'll know how powerful those nightfighter can be.

Of course, as the name implied, a single starbreaker beam is enough to cause a star to go nova, or blow a big chuck out of to destroying a planet or a moon as seen in 'Ring'.

You've got some of those numbers backwards. The Shadow spider is quite a bit more capable than any of the victim races' ships. Rating the Sharlin and Warlock at -20 and -30 weapons respectively would be more in line with the B5 tech curve.
