Keyboard controls and Music Players

I have the pause/skip/stop buttons on my keyboard, now they only work for itunes when the program is the only program in focus, but if I'm using WMP I can do it from anywhere, is there anyway to change it so itunes accepts it from outside the program?

What brand/model keyboard is it? Some keyboards will work every/anywhere (eg most of logitech), others... not so much.

Its a stock keyboard from Acer, KU-0760. I can't find any manuals online for it either.
