The Imperial Remnant
A short history
After the desperate battles of the Core, several worlds sent ships into that region. Some tried to claim territory, others tried to help and many just tried to grab what they could and run. Baron Ragez D'Asta's private fleet had just entered the Coruscanti system when he received a distress call of a Bakuran help convoy that was busy trying to search the battlefields for survivors and was now beset by pirates. Disgusted with attacks on civilian ships, the Baron proceeded to vanquish the bandits. Shortly after that, a fleet of ships led by Nahdonnis Praji arrived and laid claim to the former jewel of the galaxy. He was however persuaded that it would be better to bundle resources as his own fleet lacked transport ships and had to defend his holdings as well.
As a result, the Treaty of Coruscant was signed, which established the Imperial Remnant.
Planets and systems:
The imperial Remnant currently holds 11 systems with the following planets:
Bakura (Average world)
After the Battle of Coruscant, the Bakurans remembered that it was only due to the help from the Rebel Alliance that they were able to defeat the Ssi-ruuk incursion. They decided to help the galactic worlds in return.
Although among the smallest worlds in the Remnant, the Bakurans quickly became known for their idealism and their willingness to help others. Lead by Prime Minister Gaeriel Captison and her husband, Admiral Thanas, they have made their opinions count on the political stage and have apparently dedicated their industrial output to rebuilding the core. A more cynical observer of course would note that the Bakuran economy is dependant on repulsorlift exports and that repulsorlifts are a prime component of industrial reconstruction and cleanup efforts. Nevertheless, the Bakurans are a voice for democracy everywhere.
As Bakura is almost cut off from the Galactic Core, most of the Bakuran fleet is used to guard the trade and supply convoys running from and to Bakura.
The Bakura system has a total of 8 Planets and 10 moons, one inhabited planet.

Axum (major world)
Axum has largely been overshadowed by its twin Anaxes. However, it's industrial output was far greater than that of Anaxes, a fact that prompted the Remnant to focus the reconstruction efforts on this planet. Now, Axum is a glorious success of the reconstruction program and its citizens are vivid defenders of the Remnant, with Governor Jurang Saenger leading the charge.
The Axum system has a grand total of eight planets and one space station, which was destroyed.

Anaxes (destroyed major world)
The once proud defender of the core has been heavily wrecked due to the fighting, the beautiful and majestic landscape being scarred by turbolaser fire. As part of the campaign to restore civilization, Anaxes is one of two major planets being rebuilt by the Remnant. As such, all planetary resources as well as a good share of the output of other planets are geared towards reconstruction, but estimates say it will be years before the planet regains it former glory. As reconstruction work was paid in full in the first fiscal year, the planet has regained all of its defences, but is still depended on reconstruction money and cannot yet add anything to the budget. Reconstruction will be complete in six gameyears.
Anaxes is located in the Axum system.

Kaikielius (average world)
Kaikielius is another planet situated on the Koros Trunk Line and the seat of Marshal Praji's command. A core founder planet, it was reconquered by the Imperials, with the the clone Emperor appointing Praji as Governor-General of the world.
Much of Kaikielius is a shadow of its former glory, though it suffered surprisingly little damage in the war. The inhabitants credit Marshal Praji with keeping them safe, a perception that is helped along by the vast sums of money members of the Praji family have poured into their new holding. After decades of decline, Kaikielians feel that a return to former glory may be possible.
Kaikielius is the only inhabited planet in the Kaikielius system.

Ruan (major world)
Ruan is a huge agriworld situated on the Koros Trunk Line and is the system closes to Coruscant.
After the corporation owning this huge agriworlds was destroyed in the war, Marshal Praji convinced Ruan to join the Remnant for the purposes of securing food exports and security. However, due to the need of feeding the starving populations of Coruscant and Annaxes, prices were soon fixed and the industrial output of Ruan was largely directed to those planets.
These days Ruans are deeply divided about their role. While recognizing the need to pitch in, the former days of glorious profits are something most yearn for. As part of Praji's zone of control, Ruan mostly sides with the conservatives in the council.
Ruan is the only inhabited planet in the Ruan system.

Home of the Foerost shipyards, some of the oldest and largest shipyards in the galaxy and situated on the Koros Trunk line. Foerost is one of the pillars of the Remnant, providing most of the ships used by both the merchant marine and the Imperial Navy.
Foerost is the only inhabited planet in the Foerost system.

Ryloth (minor world)
The newest member of the Remnant. Ryloth's admission into the Remnant was a subject of heavy debate among the council, with Praji and the core worlds voting against it, whereas the idealistic Bakurans argued for the inclusion of the Twi-Leks. Amidst accusations of rascism and blinded idealism, Feena D'asta organized a compromise – Ryloth would receive membership, but no resources allocated for the core worlds would be spend in their defence. Therefore, the defences allocated to Ryloth can just hold off the slavers, but have little defence against an attack. However, the Remnant is confident that the threat of going to war is enough of a deterrent against any major power. Due to the circumstances of its joining the Remnant, it will usually side with Bakura in major debates. Ryloth is represented by Clan Leader Kandon Secura.
Ryloth is the only inhabited planet in the Ryloth system, the colony on the sister world of Or Truma having been wiped out by slavers.

Nez Peron (major world)
Nez Peron is the capital world of the D'Astan sector. Despite being a agriculture world, it is also the seat of D'Astan shipyards, who originally specialized in building transports and cargo ships. It is currently governed by the Baron Ragez D'Asta, the galaxy's most wealthy shipping magnate and owner of the largest privately-owned fleet in the galaxy. As the D'Astan sector is self-sufficient, it is often thought of as the last option for a retreating Imperial force. Convoys from here to the core are guarded by the Baron's private fleet, which is usually enough to deter any pirates.
The Nez Peron sector is filled with planets, however they all serve to service Nez Peron.

Ord Cantrell (average world)
Despite having little industrial output, Ord Cantrell is renowned throughout the galaxy for its luxurious resorts and beautiful landscape. It is a planet for diplomatic gatherings and the de facto capital of the Imperial Remnant.
Ord Cantrell is the only inhabited planet in the Ord Cantrell system.

Coruscant (destroyed home world).
The galactic capital lies in ruins. Scores of destroyed ships litter the system and the planet itself has suffered surface bombardment beyond belief. Among the wasteland that is the former ecumenopolis stand some districts untouched by war. However, most of the planet has been made into a gigantic slum, with Imperial patrols being barely able to keep up order. Free distribution of food and shelter has helped to ease the greatest suffering and the reconstruction effort is in full spread and consumes billions and billions of credits, though of course it seems to many as if the effort is futile.
Coruscant is still the de jure capital of the empire, though estimates indicate it will be years or even decades before reconstruction is complete. A large part of the job of the Coruscant garrison is to keep salvage from impacting on the planet as well as finding out which wrecks are salvageable. So far, they have had little success with the latter.
Coruscant is one of 11 planets in the Coruscant system and the only one left with living beings on it.

The Imperial Government.
The Imperial Government is located on Ord Cantrell for practical reasons, these reasons being that Ord Cantrell was a neutral ground and that it was located far away from the turmoil of the Core.
Although the Bakurans keep pushing for a nationwide election system and the New Imperial constitution does in fact provde for one, this has not been implemented due to the desperate times. Instead, elections are held on the planetary level and the winners of those are sent to represent the worlds on the Imperial Ruling Council. However, as only the constitutions of Bakura, Ryloth, Timora and (on the local level) Naz Peron provide for elections, some members of the council have been representing their planets without ever having stood for election.
Under the new Imperial constitution, there is supposed to be a seperation of power. Yet since the new Imperial senate and the new Imperial Court has not been convened, the Imperial Ruling council fulfills both roles.
The Imperial Ruling Council.
The highest authority of the Imperial Remnant, the IRC is the highest legislative, executive and judicial power. All council members are immune from judicial persecution and only answer to the council themselves. All matters of foreign as well as matters of higher domestic policy has to be decided by the council.
The council has to surrender its authority as soon as the legislative, judiciary and executive branches of the Empire have been rebuilt. As this is dependant upon the reconstruction of Coruscant, a lot of people have started to consider it a permament institution and some council members reportedly would hate to surrender their power.
The current seat of the council is Ord Cantrell.

Voting and factions
The council is divided into voting members and non-voting members. Voting members must represent at least one planet or be a senior official of the empire.
Voting members:
-
Ragez D'Asta, representing Naz Peron and its sector (2 votes)
Ragez D'Asta is the Regent, the head of the Remnant in lieu of an Emperor. Though rumors keep circulating about his health, he still takes part in all proceedings. As the regent, his vote carries tie-breaking and veto capabilities. A pragmatist who lives by his word and his personal honor. With the conquest of Baramorra, his vote tally has been changed to two.
-
Nahdonnis Praji, representing Kaikielius, Ruan and Foerost (3 votes).
A former acquaintance of Lord Vader and, he is the former Governor-General of Kaikielius. Praji represents the faction most steeped in Imperial ideology and is generally considered a ruthless but efficient bastard.
-
Gaeriel Captison-Thanas, representing Bakura and Timora (2 votes).
Gaeriel Captison is the most idealistic of the council members and the most passionate voice for civil liberties on the council. As such, she has made many friends and many enemies.
-
Jurang Saenger, representing Axum (1 vote)
A confidante of Baron D'Asta, he was only recently evelated to a voting member of the council after reconstruction of his world was complete. Saenger is prone to bouts of arrogance, but is said to posses one of the best political minds in the galaxy.
-
Mahd Windcaller, representing Ord Cantrell (1 vote)
A ruthless media enterpreneur, she has been heavily hit by the collapse of the holonet. Thus it is her utmost desire to rebuild the holonet, something she has not been very succesful with. Her representing Ord Cantrell was a compromise made by the majority of the council.
-
Kandon Secura, representing Ryloth (1 vote)
The last male decendant of this noble clan, Kandon Secura is a striking figure. He once led the fight against slavers on his home world. Now that at least part of the Remnant is committed to defending Ryloth, Secura is trying to ensure this protection is not short lived and if possible, even expanded.
-
Daine Jir (1 vote)
Commander of the Imperial Army. Another of Vader's former aides, he is diligent, ruthless, and efficient. Was included as part of the compromise admitting Ryloth.
-
Mirith Sinn (1 vote)
A former Rebel commander, infiltrator and intelligence operative. This Nez Peron native who was pulled out of the rubble of a collapsed Coruscant building by D'Astan SAR parties. She is now head of the Imperial Intelligence agency and the closest friend of the Baron's daughter. She was elevated to a voting member in recognition of her successes as head of Imperial Intelligence.
Non-voting council members:
-
Pter Thanas, Commander of the Bakuran Navy
Husband of Gaeriel Captison and leader of the Remnant's anti-slavery efforts. Third in command of Imperial forces after Baron D'Asta and Daine Jir.
-
Feena D'Asta
Daughter of D'Asta and head of the (until now largely useless) diplomatic corps. She negotiated the entry of Ryloth into the Remnant and is considered to be the next addition to the voting members. Has survived at least one assassination/kidnapping attempt.
-
Leena D'Asta
Clone of Feena D'Asta, who is officially presented as her twin sister. She is currently governing Baramorra after helping Feena to escape from a Black Sun kidnapping attempt.
The council is usually split into four factions:
- The
conservative element, made up by Praji and Jir. The elder D'Asta is also said to be leaning towards them on most issues.
- The
idealists, consisting of Captison, Thanas and Sinn. Secura is reportedly leaning into that direction.
- The
pragmatists, lead by the three D'Astas and Saenger, who often try to play peacemaker between the factions despite their personal beliefs.
- Mahd Windcaller is a faction unto herself and votes to whoever promises her the most.
Other important people:

1. Guri, special Assistant to Moff Saenger. The HRD was recruited by Saenger in the effort to rescue Feena D'Asta. She also is essential to the Imperial Research project on Axum.
2.
Admiral Massad Thrumble, head of Imperial Research on Axum.
3.
Captain of the Line Hunt, Ambassador to the Cultural Union.
4.
Commander Ganner, Imperial Intelligence
5.
Rear-Admiral Leonia Tavira, commander of Imperial Intelligence flagship
Invidious. Her existence has not yet been made public. As far as everyone else is concerned, neither she nor the invidious exist.
6.
Jensaarai Defender Aiella (not depicted), Ambassador from the Jensaarai. The Jensaarai have decided to sent her to the council in order to help them judge whether the Remnant is worthy of their help. She seems to have developed a special interest in Marshal Jir. She currently is not a member of the Remnant and refuses to take part in any action.
7.
Ambassador Lorth Trun (not depicted): Ambassador to the Golden Republic
8.
Ambassador Mara Ossilege (not depicted): Ambassador to the Republic of Nysacia
Ideology
The Imperial Remnant considers itself the heir to the Galactic civilizations of the core, especially the heir of the Galactic Empire. However, it is willing to deal with anyone friendly and is generally non-aggressive towards others. When provoked, it will strike without mercy.
The Imperial Remnant is non-expansionist, but will ensure that nobody dares challenge it within its system. The Remnant considers itself to be a shining light of civilization and culture and thus obligated to help wherever possible, a hybris that has led it to less than wise deployments (e.g.: Ryloth). The conservatives question this course and would have the Remnant to return to more traditional ways.
