lets not forget the waaaaaay back, background on the place. It's almost as twisted as Shalebridge from Thief in how fucked up the place really is/has been.

Or no one mention the 17th century Waynes and Arkhams used to be into Occultism.....

On an unrelated note, anyone remember that crossover where Batman threatened to put the Punisher in Arkham if he ever came back to Gotham? Hell yeah...

I'd like to see that actually. Really, I would. If I could write fanfiction, I'd make that a priority.

Frank undergoing mandatory psychotherapy sessions? The hijinks that would ensue...

I'm pretty sure it would end with Bats slapping himself in the forehead for dumping him off there. He'd be like, "sorry, I don't know what I was thinking..."

I think it'd be kind of funny if Frank wound up whipping Arkham into shape and having most of the inmates frightened of him.

Yeah, like some wacky situation would go down where the Warden, on the day before his retirement, accidentally mixes up Frank's committal paperwork with the appointment paperwork of his incoming successor. Since the paperwork is legally air tight, and after some hijinks, they have no choice but to recognize Castle as Warden.

I think this could pretty much write itself.

I was thinking more as an inmate than a staff member.

I figured that. I just felt your idea lacked the shenanigans that would naturally come with Frank being put in charge... and if there's one thing any story needs, it's shenanigans. Hijinks will work too.

What if he starts off as an inmate then convinces the Warden to give him the keys to the place?

If the warden puts him in charge because he was hitting the sauce all day (like he usually does), then yeah. That would work.

More likely he and Lock-Up would team up and the Warden wold reluctantly give them free reign of the grounds in an effort to keep escapes down, still plenty of room for shenanigans

Hey, look what I just found. Wow, I am impressed. DC and/or Marvel really spared no artwork expense for this major crossover event. Just look at this fine art... That first caption portrays the Punisher almost perfectly.

Weird how the art suddenly improves at the end though. They must have brought in a replacement artist or something.

I discovered a nice little trick with the Titan enhanced henchmen. If you throw a Batarang at them right before they charge, they'll run into a wall, making it easier to pound on them or jump up and use them to hit other henchmen.

No kidding. It suggests as much during the Bane fight, and you know, Titan henchman use pretty much the same pattern as Bane.

I don't remember getting that message. I thought I would have to trick Bane into charging into one of the furnace looking things.

You have to build up your combo to a 5x or so and then let the rang fly. Generally as long as you were facing the general direction of the armed goons it'd knock them over most of the time. But you don't really have a whole lot of fine control over it since it was a quick weapon thing.
In my experience, the following rules seem to apply:
  • If it's a brawler thug, he'll drop the weapon if surprised or if it's a combo Batarang (I think you can use them at less than 5x, but you do have to have a couple of hits already in). The Batclaw seems to work, too.
  • If it's a predator-room thug or sniper (or knife-wielder), he won't drop his weapon. At least, I've never seen them drop their weapons.

One more bit of incompetence with regards to the Arkham Staff, the prisoner transfer room where the Joker strangled that guard. A second guard with shoot to kill authorization would have ruined the plot right then and there. I think it would have been better for Batman to go with Joker then for Harley to open all the cells right at the beginning. It could start much the same way, with Batman fighting a horde of henchmen while Joker gets away. At least then the Arkham security people don't appear to be blatant morons.

The main problem I think, is that it tries to be an Asylum when its effectively a prison. You can't have both. The floorplans look to me like an average asylum attempted to be turned into a maximum security centre but the buildings themselves not designed for it. I wouldn't be surprised really.

While on the other hand, guns don't belong in asylums. Not for the patients anyway. At worst, you might have guards with tasers and perhaps tear gas but not guns. When you need guns and riot gear as standard issue for the guards, you don't have a asylum. An asylum is where crazy people go to become better. This is not the case, now is it?

It's even more ridiculous because they have regular inmates too (ie non-supervillains), and even accept overflow from regular prisons.

I don't think overflow is a regular thing. More that Blackgate had a fire, so they had to stick the prisoners somewhere as a temporary measure.

Yeah, and moving an army of Jokers goons to a facility not equipped to deal with them the day Joker shows up is... not stupid. Right? :o
