I think I'll leave it as it is. If games get to a point where it might be cheaper to open another core vs buying a new one. Of course that depends on system requirements for new games.

I do not think they will change that drasticly(sp?) in the next few years.

You said you had a Phenom X4. That already has all the cores enabled. Core unlocking is only possible on an X3 or an X2. Frankly even if you had an X3, increasing the clock speed is far more likely to show a visible improvement in games than unlocking the fourth core, because very few contemporary games can use more than two cores effectively.
