She already knows. I did something similar last year, but after that, I was a bit confused about our status; whether we were just friends, a couple, or something else...

Well, if she's more the quiet type, then it's likely, if she likes you in return, that she is waiting for you to make the first move. If she doesn't like you in return, then she's not telling you because she's possibly afraid it will hurt your feelings. Really, the only way you're going to find out is to ask her.

Jeeez...I wished this was here two months ago.

Back then I was in the same situation as Exonerate and I blew it...literally.....
I liked her, she "liked" me and I waited a couple months to ask her out and she said no.
Plus, not only is she not my friend no more but she won't even speak to me.

You should ask her out when you can

Oh bullshit, you're just afraid of rejection. The sooner you learn to cope with it, the better. Waiting won't improve the situation any; it'll just keep building tension whenever you're around each other, and if she has any feelings for you now, I guarantee you they'll be gone by next year. If she doesn't have feelings for you now, then I seriously doubt she'll develop them for you in a year's time, anyway. You're already good friends with her, and that's a strike against you. Sorry, but that's the reality.

Hell, last night I told the girl I had feelings for how I felt about her. It was one of those conversations that was permeated with awkward silence, but I'm glad I finally worked up the balls to tell her before things on the friendship side went any further than they were. When in doubt, just be honest and straightforward. You may not get what you want (though that remains to be seen, in my case), but at least you're not a coward.

Although it could end badly, with them being enemies. I was in the same situation, I asked out a friend I liked, she turned me down, and now me and her are actually even better friends.

Exactly. If she tells you that she doesn't want to damage your friendship or something like that, she probably doesn't have very significant feelings for you. Taking risks is just part of the game. Who else are you going to date? A girl who you you're not friends with to some degree?

In my experience, the phrase "just be friends" has no meaning. It can go from friends, to having sex.

Don't wait to long or else the chance may pass. I waited for that 'perfect' timing of mutual emotional like and moments and such with 3 different women, and hence I was 3 times the loser in those situations. Don't wait forever or you may end up being handed the short end of the stick without at least trying to grab for the long.

Listen Plutonium, if this is all you can contribute I suggest taking your own advice, specifically the 2nd part.

Anyways, you're either going to have to take the plunge or sit down with her and have a good talk about if/where you want to go with a relationship. I had a similar situation back in high school with a girl who was my closest friend, and we ended up deciding that it would probably be best if we just stayed friends and cuddled. 8 years later and she's still one of my best friends despite the fact that we've both been and are involved in other relationships. For what it's worth she was the quiet shy type, but that changed after a couple years of university. It's always a bit more complicated with friends since relationships tend to mess things up when they go wrong.

I hate Microsoft too, but that's beside the point. If he's that young, it's not surprising that he's acting erratic. That's what kids of his age do.
